  1. KRAM, we love you and we both hope you'll stop by the tailgate and say hello sometime once the season gets going.
  2. Last year, the primary reason we were struggling was NOT the play of the quarterback. I wouldn't even put QB performance in the top 5 reasons we struggled as badly as we did. Heck, I might not even put it in the top 10. Even if Riley is an improvement over Vizza immediately, I don't think that makes a roach's ass worth of difference in wins and losses. The improvement is going to have to come somewhere else to really make a difference.
  3. That was very, very late in that game. I know, because I remember that picture being taken... Because that's me and some family and friends in the middle, near the bottom. Not the guys in the white caps or wearing a lime shirt, but in front of them. The silhouette guy standing up right in line with the 50 yard line is my dad. The leaned over, beaten down, defeated guy in front of him is me. The slouching guy in the UNT Orientation 2003 t-shirt two to the right of me is my brother. Between us, standing up next to my dad, is either LAZER or MeanMag, I can't remember or tell which. I think it's MeanMag, and LAZER is sitting in front of him. I know this picture was taken late in the game because I noticed the photographer walking around at the top of the student section. On his way down, I asked him if he got a good picture. He was easy to spot, because the student section emptied out to the point you see there early in the 4th quarter. A LOT of people got fed up and left on the drive when Dodge decided to kick a 24 yard field goal rather than go for six on 4th and 4 on the ULL 6 yard line. At the time, we were down by 18 points with 12 minutes left in the game. I remember THAT distinctly because I was so shocked and angry that I made a comment about it to my dad. A student nearby said that Dodge was going for a field goal "because we need 3 scores anyway", and I laughed. 8 plays, 80 yards, and 7 points later for ULL, that student also got up and left the stadium. If I weren't such a masochist, I'd have been gone, too. Based on what I remember and the field position in the game (North Texas on it's own 31 or 32)... This picture was taken with about 4 minutes left in the game, right after North Texas gave up a TD to go down 59-30. Micah Mosley either just ran for six yards to get us there, or Nathan Tune is about to run for eight yards to get a first down. So it's late in the game, but that's pretty much what the view from up there was for 1/4th of the game.
  4. Then why are the kids at the orphanage down the street always moping around and looking so glum?
  5. Outrageous. I, for one, still love and respect Keith Wooden and appreciate the tremendous things he did as a proud member of the North Texas Men's Basketball team. I won't sit here and listen to his patriotism be disparaged. Keith Wooden is a kickass dude whether or not he paid all his tickets on time. Anyone who disagrees is an SMU fan and a repellent human being.
  6. Are you SURE you're not thinking of Alabama? I mean... 100% sure? It's shockingly easy to get them mixed up. Maybe you should double check. I'm not saying that you've got it wrong, just that it would be easy for ANYONE to confuse the two.
  7. In case you need help getting down from that horse, I've got this ladder you can borrow. I personally don't agree that it's "ridiculous", but I do think it's peculiar that we're talking about starting a converted LB who will be at a significant size disadvantage. With Gilmore, Mack Cole, Charlie Brown, and Sam Owusu-Hemeng already on the roster, and with John Weber on the way... All of them upperclassmen, all of them being at least 3-4 inches and/or 30-40 pounds larger than Akpunku... It does indeed seem strange that Akpunku is being talked about as a starter on the D-line. It's DeLoach and Nelson, so I'm obviously inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. But it does make me scratch my head. I'm eager to see Akpunku reward DeLoach and Nelson for their confidence in him by performing up to their expectations on the field.
  8. First and only visit was in October of last year, the week before the ULM game. Not saying it was bad, just didn't live up to the hype. And the theme parky stuff just isn't for me. I like my educational destinations to be boring and fun-free, thank you very much. If you took away a few fish, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between the Aquarium and the World of Coke.
  9. I was underwhelmed by both the Georgia and the Dallas Aquariums. The Georgia one is a little too... theme park-ified for me. The Tennessee Aquarium is still my favorite, but I saw it as a kid and I may be mythologizing it in memory.
  10. We log in through the VVIP forum.
  11. I like that one show... The one with the overused profanity and gratuitous nudity that the critics all creamed themselves over. I think they put the seasons out in an overpriced DVD set... I just can't think of the name of it.
  12. Exactly. There's nothing shameful about Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. Here's one for you: NN75im_us4k
  13. Avoid the capitalization restrictions of forum thread titles. Spacing it out allows ESPN to be properly capitalized, instead of coming out as "Espn".
  14. These are supposed to be guilty pleasures, sir. Perhaps a new thread is in order?
  15. Agreed. I love you both like a tasty peanut butter sandwich. If you ever met in person, you'd like each other, too. If we'd never abolished slavery or given women the right to vote, everyone in our fan base would get along just fine.
  16. I love Snuffers and Cafe Brazil both. We're not talking about Chili's here... Both are Dallas area "chains", not national or even regional companies. And they're both pretty damn good, for the type of food they serve. Chipotle and Starbucks, you can get anywhere... Very unnecessary near campus. But Snuffers and Cafe Brazil are just fine in my book.
  17. Needs more Sexytime.
  18. Call me when the list of the dead gets up to 31. Then I'll be convinced.
  19. My violation is bigger than your violation.
  20. Who was it last year? FAU, right? Fingers crossed for FIU. Everyone else in the East is potentially very scary. I just looked it up... It was MTSU. Man, what a raw deal that was.
  21. I was mildly inspired by your other post (I saw them back-to-back) lamenting how much you missed spelling. Peaked, peeked... I was so amused by my own wordplay that it didn't occur to me I wasn't making any sense until now. Whoops. And Quoner is in a sham marriage of convenience. He's got a lovely and charming beard. The only bad thing I can say about her is that I barely see him once every 3 months anymore.
  22. And turned into pillars of salt.
  23. I was a huge Favre fan from when he first stepped on the field over a broken Don Majikowski almost 20 years ago. I had a wall of Favre posters and plaques back when I was a kid. Part of growing up in a Packers family. Having said that, I hope that if Favre does decide to come back with Minnesota, that he gets sacked on the first play of his first game against Green Bay and suffers some sort of non-permanent disabling injury. End of the consecutive games streak, end of his season, end of this retirement bullshit. Six months later, I hope he's totally healed and back to normal.
  24. He's actually Bo McCalebb in a mask and cleats.
