  1. I've been working on a new research project, similar to the Equivalent Futility List from last year. Not to spoil anything... But anyone who doesn't think Dodge will get at least 6 wins this year should not want him back for year four.
  2. Electric football but with magnets?
  3. Minus the scoreboard, it's almost a dead ringer for the arena in Hot Springs that's hosting the SBC Tournament. Agree?
  4. It's my fault. Or Quoner's. Take your pick and point an accusatory finger.
  5. Flight of the Navigator is a giant parable about kidnapping/child molestation and the way it fractures a kid's psyche and tears families apart. Horrible, horrible movie, and nothing that children should be exposed to.
  6. I'd start a slow clap, but apparently you're already getting an ovation.
  7. Our ticket sales are grading out in the high 80's. You never like to see lapses at critical times, but overall it's important to recognize that our ticket sales performance has been quite strong. We've got a young sales department and they're naturally going to have some growing pains, but I'm still optimistic that we'll start getting the pieces put together this season. I definitely think the potential and the talent is there that we should be in contention for a sellout every single week.
  8. Now available on DVD. I'm glad you're not just lurking anymore, by the way.
  9. Great, great theme song, too. IDhz_mVcVCQ Gerald McRaney driving a forklift = kick ass.
  10. He'll be a backup QB and may get some limited time as a wide receiver.
  11. VERY nice. Maybe we should move him somewhere less physically demanding, like wide receiver or... Hmm, nevermind.
  12. Good article, good news, and good for Rucker for setting things right. But seriously, Lifer... "Paid his dues"? If I didn't know any better, I'd say that was an inappropriate joke.
  13. I know this will come off as negative, but there's no better way of saying it that I can think of. And it isn't a knock on Dodge, because pretty much everybody does it at this level. I remember at least 3 offseasons where we heard from the old coach that we were planning on seriously opening up the passing game. Never happened. Hopefully the snaps under center comment isn't just another example of coachspeak.
  14. No. He sells car insurance now. Way, way more mellow.
  15. I don't think there are any questions about the guys we've got here. The talent is there, and even the younger guys have some good experience. The only concern I have about the running game is how effective we can be with it out of the shotgun if the passing game struggles.
  16. Ask me about my meaty gyro!
  17. Surprised it took so long for MASH to make a list. Definitely a great show, definitely an argument for greatest of all time, just didn't like it as much as the others on my list. Also a fan of Carol Burnett. I had to deduct some points there because it spawned Mama's Family and a seemingly infinite source of eye-rollingly terrible syndicated reruns on TBS or during baseball rain delays.
  18. I missed that... Thought I'd read through everything very thoroughly. Sorry about that, I stand corrected. Still, though... One guy, one line, out of dozens of responses across four pages (at the time). Not that I should have overreacted so strongly, but then again that apology is a private one.
  19. The Simpsons Lost The Sopranos All in the Family The Prisoner Special extra credit to the original Jon Stewart Show, originally of MTV and then later Paramount syndication. When I was in high school, I'd wake up at 3:35 a.m. to watch him. I never turned into a regular Daily Show viewer because our cable system didn't carry Comedy Central when he took it over, but I was a LOYAL watcher back when he was playing with PEZ dispensers and puppets in the wee hours after "The Mike and Maty Show"
  20. dib2-HBsF08 It's an even better news anchor movie than Anchorman!
  21. To that point... TFLF has said that Riley wasn't being considered as a QB at Texas, and that because of his size and speed he probably wouldn't have an easy time getting QB consideration at other top tier D-1 football schools because of what his natural athletic gifts allow him to do elsewhere. He's said that Riley would be a DB at Texas if he'd stayed. And Lonnie actually praised Todd Dodge (one of a VERY few) when he burned Riley's redshirt and played him at receiver. Said that the right thing to do is to play your best eleven, Riley is definitely one of the best players on our roster (even as a true freshman), and that using him as a WR when we need a spark was a much wiser move than saving him to play an extra year at QB 4 years down the line. He's never said, at least since Vizza transferred away, that Riley shouldn't be our starting QB. And anything else he's said that anyone might consider "trashing" Riley, not that I'd agree with that label, has been in other places at other times. ------------------------- The reason I make such a confrontational issue of it is because Charlie is totally off point and out of his mind with what he said. Even if you think Lonnie has been trashing Riley elsewhere... It hasn't happened here. And to jump in on a thread that has gone back and forth between "Riley is very talented and he'll almost certainly be a great player somewhere down the line, but we shouldn't hold him to unrealistic expectations" to "Riley is very talented and will immediately be head and shoulders above our former QB, who happened to be the conference Freshman of the Year"... Then start scolding people for "ragging", "condemning", and all that other complete fictional bullpoop*... Well, it makes me angry. As a general rule, I'd go out of my way to respond to this sort of stupidity in an overly friendly and non-confrontational way. But I'm pretty much done trying to be friendly and gracious towards Charlie. After having to respond to multiple borderline personal attacks including ones with overtly homophobic insults... And having to put up with similar bullpoop* on the SBC forum and then come back here to read several snippy comments (like this one) that I couldn't even see or respond to when they were made because of my suspension... And all this coming after I've spent months trying to respond to this sort of feces* with humor or ignore it completely, going out of my way to say friendly things whenever possible or try to reach out through PMs as a way of trying to keep things from being personal (or at least, keep the personal stuff one sided). For example: Well, the Hades* with putting up with this feces* anymore. Other people can be batpoop* crazy or unpleasant or take haymaker swings at straw men and windmills. But when Charlie does it where I'm involved or vaguely implicated... I'm going to start responding in kind. It's not that I can't take it... It's just that I'm going to start dishing it out to him, too. Quit being an idiot or quit being an anal opening*. Ideally, do both. And since this almost certainly qualifies as a personal attack, I'll be taking my next GMG vacation tomorrow, I suppose. * - Edited by suggestion to remove some potentially inappropriate language
  22. I'd love to see a baseball team when the time is right... But baseball is not a revenue sport.
