Um... We're talking about my girlfriend, here. If you mean what I think you mean, I think I'm legally within my rights to challenge you to a duel.

To her, or North Texas? Because I LOVE North Texas.

It's a good thing you said something before she comes home next Tuesday... I've really taken this "don't question or second-guess the moderators" policy to heart. I'm sure she'll thank you, too.

Speaking of batshit crazy theories and superstitions about why we won... I started dating my current girlfriend right before the first game of the Dodge era. She was at SMU, she was at WKU in 2007, she came to all our home games, Rice, and ULM with us last year. She was on vacation visiting family in Los Angeles yesterday. Without her watching or listening... We won. Thinking back, she fell asleep last year while we watched the tape delay of the WKU game victory (we had avoided hearing/reading the score because we watched Baylor's homecoming earlier in the day and wanted to enjoy the NT game unspoiled) and didn't see us win. The year before, we left the WKU game at halftime because of the weather and went home to listen to the end on the radio. She fell asleep... And we came back to win. She wasn't at the ULM game that year, either. I've determined that she's a jinx on this football team. Next week, I'm going to tie her up and lock her in the closet until the game is over. If she can't see it or hear it... I think we can win it. GOOOOOO MEAN GREEEEEEEEENNNN!!!!!!

Speaking of people who passed that exam... Anyone feel like tooting his own horn? Because one of our GMG regulars managed that feat this past year, too.

Where Did You Guys And Gals Watch The Game?
TheTastyGreek replied to risinggreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I was sitting with my back to the mirrored wall, to the right of the screens and as far towards the back of the main room as the tables went on that wall. Quoner was on my left, across from his wife. My brother was on my right, accidentally dressed in a red shirt and sitting next to his girlfriend. I had on a kelly green NT t-shirt with the big lettering print and khaki shorts. I also saw two guys who made the trip to Hot Springs together, but I didn't remember their names. Also, didn't see them until halfway through the game. -

Same here. Quoner had a close encounter with KRAM and didn't know it until this morning, and I must have walked past you a half dozen times without either of us realizing it. It was a fun night there, for sure. -
1) Saw it. No olive oil; not interested. 2) I'd have tried to tell you myself, but you never answer or return my calls... And "The Man" says I have to stay 1000 feet away from your house. I told you that you'd regret that, someday.

In case anyone wants to watch it again... Tune in now.

1-0, Where's The Doom And Gloom In This One...

MeanMag may be coming, too. If he does, we can load our tent and supplies in his truck. Keep an eye out for the Mean Green Greek flag, for anyone who ends up in Tuscaloosa. Any North Texas fan is welcome to pass the morning with us. -
Props To Those Who Traveled To Muncie

I was very amused to hear Coach Dodge make reference (not by name) to the Fireworks of Shame, and how nice it was to see it happening at a rival team's stadium. -
More impressive? It's after 1:00 a.m. on a weeknight, and there are still 70 people surfing this forum.

Where Did You Guys And Gals Watch The Game?
TheTastyGreek replied to risinggreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Originally, had set up a mini watching party for a dozen of us at Boston's in Irving. But people started bailing out this afternoon, so Quoner, MeanMag, gruu, jimmerjammer, Mrs. Quoner, brother's girlfriend and I packed in the Boston's idea and just wound up watching at F&H in Lewisville. Had a current student watch about half the game with us before having to leave, too. Nice, boisterous crowd there. -
1-0, Where's The Doom And Gloom In This One...
TheTastyGreek replied to FloMoGrad's topic in Mean Green Football
We skipped Ball State in favor of going to Alabama, because we wanted to enjoy the environment more than we figured we'd enjoy Muncie. I wish we'd been able to do both this year. -
Start preparing next week's prayer, Reverend. We'll all be expecting another good one.
-
I think you're reading it wrong... Even with what we DON'T have, we still managed to play a complete, solid game on all fronts. And beat a good team. Next year, we'll be even better. And Emmitt's saying that there are only 3 games we should even reasonably expect to lose if we can play like this all season long. The point is, we're doing it without even having access to all the weapons (and some of the most talented players) on our roster. That's fantastic.

I haven't felt this enthusiastic about football since the SMU game. I haven't really felt much enthusiasm or optimism at all since last year and the admitted surrender against K-State. I'm trying very, very hard not to get my expectations too high. It wouldn't be fair to the team. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect a win next week, and I haven't been able to say that in YEARS. I'll be genuinely surprised and disappointed if we can't handle Ohio at home (after playing so well and such a complete game on the road against Ball State), and that's a huge swing from what I was allowing myself to expect yesterday. Once we beat Ohio and see how we stack up against Alabama... That's when I'll let myself start thinking about the rest of the season. But for now, I (and everyone else who was watching with us) feel nothing but enthusiasm, and I'm very very excited about the gigantic step forward this team took tonight. It's not just winning... It's winning the way that we did. Considering how it's affected all of us at our keyboards, I can only imagine what an impact it's having on the guys who'll be taking the field next week. Can't wait to see the next step they take now that they've proven to themselves that they can beat a solid team that plays a solid game. Great night.

There's nothing here not to be proud of or encouraged by. What a tremendous game. We beat a solid team on the road. A solid team that played a solid game. Defense held up amazingly well against an offense that had a lot of talent and made few mistakes. Offense executed, exceptional on the ground and very respectable through the air. This was a good performance against a good team that played a good game. And the best part is that we can improve on this game's performance. We didn't need to generate a lot of turnovers, but we showed we can be aggressive and do it when necessary. We got good pressure, but we can do even better with sacks as the line grows together. Because of how well the O-line and the running backs played, we didn't have to rely on passing... So we can hopefully grow a lot there, too. If this team can just repeat this sort of effort, intensity, passion, and execution all season long... We're going to be winners THIS YEAR. And when you consider that the talent on this team has the potential to do EVEN MORE... What a dramatic swing of optimism this sort of performance can generate. Very, very impressed and very, very optimistic about what this team is capable of doing immediately. -
My analysis? Mocking Scrappy is the ULTIMATE bulletin board material. Take notice, future opponents.

There's a Greek guy in The Wire? I should really check that show out sometime.
