Romo has 4.4 speed?
-
I'll be there with my brother. Still undetermined if anyone else is coming with us.
-
I think that was Dibrell.

It was me. And the exact figure was that we (before the Tech game, I haven't checked again since then) were a little under 6 and a half inches per reception ahead of Dickey's offense in New Mexico. Now, I'm not sure exactly what you can compare 6 and a half inches to in order to fully appreciate that length... But even when it's a distance you can feel proud of, it's still not a very large span, in the grand scheme of life.

Somebody needs to get Vicky O a throat lozenge or a vaporizer or something... It's like listening to a D.O.C. song for 3 and a half hours.

We don't have to buy him out. He can be reassigned to Diet Coke Boy, so long as we keep paying his salary.

During Freshman orientation, I practiced running down on the field and devouring a live raccoon or rabbit (whichever was available) with my bare hands and teeth. It's a messy but appropriate celebration ritual. I am serious about keeping it real, eagle style.

Does Anyone Think It's Possible That Mtsu Did Well...
TheTastyGreek replied to eulessismore's topic in Mean Green Football
You know who'd probably make an excellent Offensive Coordinator for a Division 1 school? Chris Thomsen. Similar mix of running and passing... College experience in a lower division, so he knows how to deal with older players... Texas roots and experience, with built in recruiting connections in the state... Just saying. -
Could Always Be Worse..
TheTastyGreek replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If I were contacted about being a Wide Receivers coach at a school with Darrell Dickey as a coach... I'd thing long and hard about taking the job. And I'd insist upon EXCELLENT health care. Or boxing gloves. -
No disrespect, so let me start by saying that I hope you'll keep posting and sharing your thoughts and opinions on the team. Three years ago, many of the folks here were predicting that this year, Year 3 of the Dodge era, we'd be a Sun Belt powerhouse again and this would be the year we really started threatening our big time OOC opponents. Our previous coach took until his fourth season (3rd year of recruits, because he was hired after national signing day and barely in time for spring practice in his first season) to win us a Sun Belt championship. RV had one foot on his ass pushing him out the door at the point when he started the 26 game conference winning streak... And this was a guy who'd beaten Texas Tech, Boise State (twice), and Nevada by the time his third season was over. At the time, and up to the day he was finally fired... Many of those same folks here said that we never should have kept him, that settling for those SBC championships was the absolute in low expectations and settling for worthless success. Now, the mantra is that we're on the cusp of contending for the Sun Belt title again, next year, maybe. Which used to be worthless, until the new guy came in and managed 1 conference win in his first 15 opportunities. Now, here we are, and we're almost certainly just one conference loss away from Waiting Until Next Year to hit that once unacceptable benchmark again. Part of the reason we only have 14 seniors is because of the way this coach chose to handle and treat the players he inherited. The reason we have a Redshirt Freshman QB is because our coach bred and raised him, then brought him here to run the system. We can excuse all we want about having a "young team", but many of the original Dodge recruits (those who haven't already jumped ship) will be out of eligibility after next season. When we brought in this coach, the demands that led to his opportunity were such that this sort of performance would never have been acceptable. Now, we're at a point where Dodge has to win half the games left this season just to match the number of wins our previous coach had after 3 seasons... A win total that left him on the verge of termination. I'm not writing things off yet. I think we can get to .500 this year. The talent is there and most of the coaches are proven commodities. But at this point... Next Year shouldn't be a guarantee for anyone. After three seasons, Next Year needs to be EARNED.

I wonder if it was an honor to at least be on the same field with such a superior team?

It's like Christmas at Lance Armstrong's house, I guess.

Why can't atheists enjoy the Christmas holidays? I'm not a black guy, but I still like getting the day off for Martin Luther King day, even if it doesn't really mean much to me on a personal level. And my mother didn't bother getting her citizenship for 20 years, and only then so she could bring over her father to tend to him before he died. But she's enjoyed Thanksgiving since the mid 70's, even though she doesn't really give a damn about pilgrims or American colonization.

Looking it up for the entire NCAA... There are only 3 teams that average less than our 8.9 (more precisely, 8.85) yards per completion: Central Michigan - 8.77 New Mexico - 8.57 Eastern Michigan - 8.25 New Mexico, you'll all recall, currently has Darrell Dickey as OC/Running Backs coach. So the difference between our current OC and a Dickey-run offense in 2009? 6.48 INCHES PER RECEPTION.
-
Our average catch (not pass attempt, but pass completion) goes for 8.9 yards. That makes us the worst in the Sun Belt. ASU - 14.4 ULM - 12.7 MTSU - 12.3 Troy - 11.9 ULL - 11.2 FAU - 11.0 FIU - 10.4 WKU - 9.0 The only other team in the Belt that's below 10 yards per reception is WKU, which just benched their starting QB for offensive ineptitude. Nobody in the league accomplishes less per completion than we do. ---------- In Dodge's first year, we struggled across the board, with particularly glaring incompetence on Defense. So after the season was done, we fired the high school coach who was our Defensive Coordinator. I think we're much better off for doing it. In Dodge's second year, we struggled across the board, with particularly glaring incompetence on Special Teams. So after the season was done, we fired the high school coach who was our Special Teams Coordinator. I think we're much better off for doing it. This year, with 1/3rd of the season already in the books... We're continuing to struggle on offense. This despite the fact that the guys running that side of the ball have had 3 recruiting classes and 3 spring/fall practices to put their system in place. There are NFL scouts looking at the running back some of our fans are already starting to second-guess as inferior to Dunbar, we've thrown scholarships at every wide receiver within a 300 mile radius, our offensive line has the most experience of any team in the conference, and our quarterback has been running this system since he was the only sperm with certified 4.4 speed in the Dodgeballs. And still the offense struggles to execute. In my opinion, things on the offensive side of the ball need to get REAL GOOD, REAL FAST... Or there's another coordinator who ought to start polishing his resume in time for Christmas.

It wouldn't surprise me. And I'm not arguing with you. I was just adding a layer to Greenminer's pyramid. -

What Video/song Best Represents Your Feelings
TheTastyGreek replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
I still haven't given up. Soo.... What else can you say? Another relevant song that came to me when I remembered how several of us have reached the point where we almost enjoy Statler and Waldorfing terrible performances as much as we did watching good games from years past: nR7kVnh3PlI -
