  1. I'm curious to hear the answer, too.
  2. Tread lightly. Or prepare a personal apology.
  3. I was amazed at how full the student section was for a Wednesday exhibition against a school most people have never even heard of before.
  4. I'll be there. As for the band... I don't think they've missed any games the past few years that weren't exhibitions or played over academic breaks. I don't know for sure, but I do expect they'll be there on Friday.
  5. One more note for CBL: Your favorite ref, Steve Welmer, was the lead official last night. I think this may have been his first game back since hurting his leg last year (I forget the details). He's looking a little heavier, and he wasn't quite as nimble as he used to be. But he's back.
  6. Just don't automatically think I'm opposed to the Iraq Authorized Force or the Authorized Force in Afghanistan. Call me ugly or smelly again and we've got a problem, sir.
  7. Guys, don't jump to conclusions about my politics just because I have a pet peeve over what is and isn't appropriately termed a war. You say "semantics", I say "constitutionally defined action that doesn't apply in any specific case since World War II". Just be glad nobody misused the word "cynical" in this thread. That's probably my biggest linguistic hot button.
  8. I agree with SUMG that Thomas and Shorter both looked very good. I saw it the other way... I thought Shorter was the one who really looked electric. Still, I was hoping that one of them would be able to replace Dennis, and I think that either of them should be able to take up that role with no problem. Based on Shorter's defense and excellent drives to the basket, I wouldn't be surprised if CBL was right and Shorter assumes Tristan's starting role once Dom is back. Holmen is way more than I dared to hope he would be in his first year. He's definitely big enough to take over Hogans' minutes inside. Knox looks like a newborn pony, just not covered in amniotic fluid. Hopefully he'll find his rhythm and move with more confidence. He can shoot the ball nicely, though. He still looks like too much of a project to play significant minutes. Maybe it was just nerves and he'll settle down a little bit. Even if he doesn't this season, in a couple of years... He could be a very valuable asset. Wish we could have seen a little more from Cam Spencer. Adam McCoy was in the house tonight. Glad to see him. Less welcome? There were a few girls screaming for Johnny to "PUT IN NUMBER TWELVE!!!" Given where they were sitting, I think they were NT fans looking for Nick Goff to get some playing time within the first eight minutes of the game. If Nick happens to read this board... Tell your girlfriend or your sister (or whoever that was) that you appreciate the support, but maybe she shouldn't have her expectations too high on the PT front. I'm very glad the season has arrived. Can't wait for Friday.
  9. So... Congress didn't actually declare war on anyone? Something similar, but not actually war? Because that's what I thought the deal was all along.
  10. He's a bum. I, on the other hand, will be there in my regular seat.
  11. George Patton, upside down photo.
  12. Okay, I'm raising the Alert from Orange to Orange-and-a-Half.
  13. Given that the stadium will be done the same year Dodge's contract expires... It's almost an incentive to make the change now while you're insulated by the ongoing project, then hoping like hell that the new hire turns out better than the 2006 one.
  14. We're both men of the law...
  15. The terror alert just went from Yellow to Orange. God help us if Mean Green Engineer chimes in.
  16. The boys of MTSU may or may not agree with you.
  17. I don't think the school is paying for someone to piss in our mouths every week, either. Beer pocketbook is fine, but at least give us beer for the money.
  18. We've had a lot of heated debates on this forum over coaching contract terms. Buyouts, extensions, proposed clauses, and the like. I'd like to propose a mandatory clause in any future employment contract or other type of agreement for any North Texas Athletics Director. Any AD who hires a high school coach to be the head coach of one of our teams is terminated. Fired. Immediately. They can make the hire, but it's their last act before security escorts them out the door. What would have been their salary goes into an escrow account until one of two things happens: If the coach manages a winning season, they get the escrow money and they get their job back. If the replacement AD feels the need to fire the high school coach before the coach manages a winning season, then the hiring AD gets the 'William Wallace in Braveheart' treatment, right on the porch of the Athletics Department building. And the escrow money goes towards pitchforks, torches, and torturing tools, with whatever gets left over going into a facilities fund. Whether it's 10 or 15 or 30 years from now, no matter what accolades the coach may have to recommend them... If you hire a high school coach here, you sacrifice your job until proven correct. If someone thinks a third attempt is worth the risk, they'd better be willing to take the consequences of failure. rjVxzVNKnFg
  19. Wow... That's a surprise. I'm sure you've probably got a lot of other ways to spend your limited Metroplex time... But if you were already planning on spending an entire day at Fouts, and you're interested in taking in the basketball game... You're welcome to ride out with us. I'll email you or give you a call in a day or two and we can talk it over.
  20. Man... That HD radio is pretty powerful stuff. Glad I'm a late adopter of that technology.
  21. The extraordinary rendition of Todd Dodge? It could be like a dunk tank, only way more intense. Maybe we could use it as a fundraiser for the new stadium? I bet Lonnie and shaft would be good for $5 apiece, easy.
  22. I think that Riley Dodge will not be around to play any games that Todd Dodge isn't coaching. And I wouldn't blame him or hold it against him, either.
