  1. I've met and talked to his parents. They never expected him to play a single second this year, and they were glad he was getting a season to learn. You're wrong on this one.
  2. The next time we fire a coach, he needs to be ESCORTED OUT BY SECURITY IMMEDIATELY. Unbelievable. Un-freaking-believable. Disgusting.
  3. This is why the announcement should have been made on Monday and we should have had this game played under an interim coach. This is Dickey all over again, only Dickey didn't play Nathan Tune at the end of 2006 out of spite or stupidity. Bitch all you want about black jerseys, but I'm more upset about red shirts. Absolutely ridiculous. We have 1:50 left in a season where we're 2-9 and down two scores with a LAME DUCK COACH. So naturally, we burn a redshirt we've been sitting on all year just so we can still fail to come back. Unreal. What an electrifying and ultimately irrelevant drive. I'm glad it just cost us an entire season of Derek Thompson. What's the silver lining? Now, under next year's coach, we'll have a sophomore with two minutes of game experience to start at QB?
  4. I'm stuck with visiting parents (not mine) and I barely get 10 minute mental health vacations to check my email, basketball scores, and GMG. I get a lot of consideration when it comes to NT athletics, but I think if I started calling around to see if there was a place I could sneak out to and watch the basketball game tomorrow night, it might be the straw that breaks the girlfriend's back. If it turns out this thing is televised, give me a call tomorrow, because I'll be stuck at a family (not mine) gathering all day from the morning through probably 5 or 6 p.m. I can probably get away for the evening.
  5. Note the model of that Kawasaki motorcycle. The character from the A-Team that's circled has already been correctly identified as "Face".
  6. Probably like a rusty tin roof. /Love Shack'd
  7. I know this has been asked and possibly answered before, but is there any TV on this game? It'd be nice to get a watching party together somewhere.
  8. Burn. Also... Fixed that for ya.
  9. I was annoyed by this last year when I had to watch Springsteen's fossilized crotch sliding across the stage into the camera. Thinking it over, though, it isn't the easiest thing in the world to come up with a modern band with enough clean songs and potential broad appeal that fits the halftime show better. The best idea I could come up with was The Strokes, because they were supposed to have an album due this winter that it would make sense to promote. As much as I hate the Denny's Early Bird Special Geriatric Halftime Show... I can see why they keep scheduling it that way. Also, this year's game is on CBS, and half their shows use songs by The Who as their theme music. I can let it slide for one more year if the entire band puts on or takes off sunglasses when they start playing "Won't Get Fooled Again".
  10. I'd wager a dinner on that. Loser buys the crow? +
  11. Actually, if I understand correctly, the tradition has changed. Anyone who has a bad game that WKU loses is branded a "goat" for their performance. Then, they spend the next week locked in a WKU fraternity closet. You don't want to know what happens when someone opens the door. But, hey- If a guy would rather run the risk of starvation and sodomy at WKU rather than come to North Texas and enjoy the weekly back massages that the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders provide to scholarship athletes... More power to him, I guess.
  12. Someone needs to warn him about the toxic levels of human and animal urine and feces at the WKU cafeterias. Also: Did anyone else know that in Kentucky, it's socially inappropriate for women to shave their body hair or brush their teeth? Strange, but true! It's actually punishable by law.
  13. Can't argue with you on that one.
  14. I think Mangrum is perfect in the role he's playing right now. He comes in and plays a defensive and outside shooting spark plug role for 8-10 minutes per game. I'd put him behind Josh, Dom, Richard Thomas, Shannon Shorter, and Tristan Thompson, easily. That's not an indictment of his talent, that's just my subjective preference for five other very talented guards. I've loved seeing Mangrum play a major bench role. I'd be anxious about a starting role or even expanded minutes, considering the other talent on the roster and Mangrum's injury history. Remember last season, he came back and played heavy time in one or two games, and the workload was too much for him. If we can get 8-10 solid minutes of Mangrum all season, I'll take it and be thrilled, because I thought the injuries would be too much for him to come back from again. No need to push it. We've got a very valuable, very fragile resource. I'd hate to see him asked to do more than he's physically capable of, and I'd hate to see expectations get too high for what he can consistently bring to the floor.
  15. I'm reserving judgment until Denver/Wyoming is final.
  16. I stopped reading the Bowling Green newspaper after I saw a week's worth of stories and advertisements for their annual U.S. Flag Burning Festival. Frankly, ever since the Mayor of Bowling Green and the Chancellor of WKU sent Osama Bin Laden that congratulatory cookie basket after September 11th, I've had a slightly negative view of that town and that school.
  17. Also, there's the goat thing. And I've read or heard somewhere that the entire city is ringed by paper factories and pork processing plants. Stinky, stinky place to live for four years. Not the sort of place I'd want to go to college, that's for sure.
  18. Not to kick you in the nuts when you're already discouraged... But it's 5 wins and 30 losses, so 5 wins divided by 35 games is a winning percentage of 14.2857% You divided his wins by his losses to get 16.6%. It's even worse than you think. He has to win this Saturday just to get up to the crappy percentage you gave him credit for.
  19. It's not over until he signs a paper. And he can't do that until April.
  20. Howdy, folks! Hire someone with a strong D-1A track record!
  21. I've got no problem with Riley's performance. He's a freshman, he's going to make mistakes. Frankly, he shouldn't be in the position he's in at all. I've said since before the season that it's unfair to expect too much of him this season. As for next year... I hope he sticks around, but I highly doubt it.
  22. I want us to announce what we've already decided and end this pointless week of shadow puppet theater.
  23. He's won five games, only three against D-1A competition in three years. His inept handling of our drug testing led to the national embarrassment in the New York Times, among other places. His inept handling of inherited players led to an ugly mistaken charge of racism that embarrassed us nationally the year before. This is the first year we haven't had a national story disgracing our university that was directly due to his handling of our players and football program. I guess that's technically progress. He's admitted in the media that he's quit trying in several games, including after just 3 drives, down by less than 2 TDs, halfway through the first quarter of a season opener. We've wasted thousands of preciously slim dollars on frivolous, stupid expenses like renting indoor practice facilities, all at his insistence. He's alienated the local media, not just Vito but also at least two local TV stations that I know of specifically, including one where he couldn't be bothered to show up for a scheduled interview despite being offered a chauffeured ride to make his trip to the station easier. His assistants have called him incompetent to his face. His recruits have fled the program in droves. And despite having one of the easiest schedules in school history... We're facing our third straight double-digit loss season. In MY opinion... Dodge didn't earn jack shit, least of all the money we paid him.
  24. Perhaps if Dodge had just had a heart attack, we wouldn't care about making an announcement Thanksgiving week. For the life of me, I don't understand why this is going on.
