  1. Yep. Turning a 3 win Alabama squad into a winner in his first year, 10 wins in the SEC in just his second season... The reason they're still upset with him out there isn't because he wasn't successful... It's because he didn't stick around and suffer through sanctions when Texas A&M was willing to pay him more. And I'll go out on a limb and say that trying to get a program going in the Big 12 South might just be one of the toughest assignments in college football. The guy beat Texas in both his last two years there, and I don't think he ever lost to a Texas team that was ranked below 5th.
  2. Apologies to the person who already read this in a PM, but... Franchione gets $1 million in buyout money from A&M in 2010. We could get him as a $1 coach for 2010 (allowing us to resolve our buyout issues in one year) and pay him $400k per year after that, which is on par with what he was after when he pursued the San Diego State job last year. In my opinion... If Dennis Franchione isn't our next head coach, it had better be because he slammed his door in the face of a kneeling, pleading Rick Villarreal. I don't know of anyone else out there who's a more perfect fit for what we need.
  3. I'm certainly no fan of the Pizza Inn Nazi... But when the guy decides you need to go, by golly, he makes sure you're GONE. The Holosauce left a shameful stain on Denton's history, there's no question about that. But as terrible as it may have been, at least it showed a certain decisiveness that's sorely lacking at North Texas.
  4. Ummm.... No. And anyone who says "yes" is no longer welcome at my house. She's like Snoopy, but without the costumes and WWII hallucinations (as far as I know).
  5. To be fair... She is a very smart and charming beagle.
  6. "Generic" Bill Jones knows about as close to zero about North Texas athletics as any human being possibly could. I'd rank his opinion on what should be/has already been done about Dodge somewhere below my beagle's, but possibly ahead of my dachshund's.
  7. Down by two scores, no timeouts, etc.
  8. Also, the job has to be open for 30 days by Texas law.
  9. I think he got his RBs confused and meant James Hamilton.
  10. Homemade. I was taught how to make my own tzatziki back when I was still in elementary school. It's surprisingly easy. You should have come to the tailgate when we had baklava this year.
  11. I could kiss you, sir. This is the first game I haven't seen in person. I was very sad when I thought I wouldn't be able to at least watch a webstream.
  12. One other inducement- Barring something catastrophic, I'll have a Gyro Broiler in time for next year's football season. Let's see the KingDL1 group grind, skewer, roast, and hot slice fresh gyros!!!
  13. Didn't realize you were over there with those guys. I can't blame you... If I could get a stuffed pepperoni pizza, I'd consider burning our tailgate tent to the ground and salting the parking lot so no other could ever grow in it's place.
  14. Both of you should just come join our tailgate next year and be part of our super-happy-funtime cookout family.
  15. Yep, Riley's 21. Vizza is a junior and only 20.
  16. I hope he comes back, but I don't expect him to. Even though he's 21 years old, even older than Vizza, he's still a freshman by classification and he was still in his first year as a starting college QB. I hate to see him go, but if that's part of the deal from getting rid of Dodge, it's still worth firing the guy.
  17. Or, wear something appropriate for the job and keep your paycheck.
  18. Maybe I piss rainbows and bend spoons with the power of my mind. The sad thing is that it's all irrelevant now. It can't be undone, and whatever anyone did or didn't want, it's over with. I have my suspicions about whether Thompson would choose an entire season of opportunity or two minutes of action as part of an insanely low probability shot at leading a fourth quarter comeback that earns his lame duck coach a 9 loss rather than a 10 loss season. As for the Matt Phillips deal... I had the chance to visit with his parents, too. I completely understand why he wanted any opportunity to get on the field, and I completely understand why he might not have been heartbroken about not getting another year under Coach Dodge.
  19. He has four years to play three. I think you're a little confused... If you burn a redshirt, it's NOT a redshirt year. Now, instead of having four years to play four, he has four years to play three.
  20. And Maxine Nightingale as director of travel operations. I suppose she's the one that makes sure they get right back to where they started from.
  21. Also, he said that this season will make everyone on the team a better husband and father. Which is delightful. Maybe his next job can be in family counseling.
  22. Two words that could have avoided both situations: INTERIM COACH. Maybe THIS time, we'll take the lesson to heart.
  23. And no timeouts. And down by two scores.
  24. Unless something changed in the last month, HE DOESN'T. Find some other line of argument to try and defend this. Or, give up on the whole pointless endeavor.
  25. I've met and talked to his parents. They never expected him to play a single second this year, and they were glad he was getting a season to learn. You're wrong on this one.
