Isiah Thomas: The Kiss of Death since _______ (I forget what year that was)

Oh, and don't forget Operation Freeze-Out in Michael Jordan's first All-Star game.
-
Don't forget that he bankrupted the CBA. And, as oldguystudent informed me, he got his smooch on with Magic Johnson during the NBA Finals. That's a golden picture, if anyone in the Crew has large printing capabilities.

Flagrantly, maliciously bad foul by Tommie Sykes. Someone (Thomas?) dumped it off underneath to Tramiel for an open dunk, then Sykes came up and just shoved or threw a shoulder into him as he went up. It came a few minutes after a crazy tumble by Tony Hooper, and the nature of the play made it an obvious retaliation foul. It should have been an ejection, in my opinion. Dirty, dirty play.

Not that I have any sort of partisan affiliation, but in the spirit equality and of humor and fun: To all my Democrat friends: Merry Christmas! To all my Republican friends: Damn that uppity Jew foreigner! None of this would be a problem under good leadership! If the people of Bethlehem would properly support our War on Terror, he'd have been taken care of in the cradle. And if the government would just crack down on the illegal immigration that's killing our society, then we wouldn't have to worry about the dirty wetfoot of Bethsaida undermining the core values that made this country great. Don't get me wrong, I love and support the concept of free speech for others to slightly less than the absolute minimum extent required by law... But in the real world, we'd be a lot better off if those hippies and tree huggers in Galilee would break off from the rest of greater Judea and join their communist brothers in Russia, or just sink into the ocean. Anyway... Glory and Praise unto Marduk, whom we hail by his 50 names! Ha ha?

Climategate Clear Up
TheTastyGreek replied to EagleGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Capricorn One, man... Capricorn One. -
That he's "off the Stephens bandwagon".

Part of the exodus was Shanice's philosophy towards returning players that "If you can't stand the 94 feet of heat, get yourself at least 95 feet away from the kitchen". I'm not giving up on her yet, but Cooley's words carry a lot of weight with me. I do wish I could have seen what was in that magical binder of hers, though. That must have been one hell of a presentation.

Heading Into Conference Play
TheTastyGreek replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
He certainly has. Eric Tramiel (and, to a slightly lesser extent, Jacob Holmen) squaring up from the 3 point line is the basketball equivalent of Riley Dodge lined up in the shotgun on 3rd or 4th and inches. Sure, it may work one time out of five, but it's agonizing to watch and worry about all five times. I love them both, but my stomach hurts every time someone passes them the ball outside the arc. -
Sam Houston State Close To Naming New Football Coach
TheTastyGreek replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
If I were looking for a head coaching job, I sure as hell wouldn't be looking in Huntsville. I'd be looking in Nashville. -
It's true. Anyone who thinks that Berlusconi or someone like Madhav Kumar is going to come here and take over the job of running this country is deluding themselves. And if you really think that we're going to get any better results by going out and offering the presidency to some cabinet minister from a G8 country... I've got some oceanfront property in Paraguay that I'd like to sell you. Also, let's not rewrite history here. I remember a lot of enthusiasm and excitement back when President Obama was elected. Chief Justice Roberts was just taking his cues from the popular sentiment at the time when he inaugurated him. It's not fair to get angry at Roberts now. Especially when Obama is just 4 or 5 omnibus legislative bills away from a 60% approval rating or better. If nothing else, Obama is a good public face for the country. He does an amazing job promoting us publicly, and that's something we really needed at this point in our history. And with all the support he's getting from the media, I think maybe we should all take a step back and appreciate the situation from their perspective. My son is Congressional Page, and I think that most of the people here that are complaining and second guessing Obama are completely unqualified to even discuss the situation. Have any of you ever even been a Governor? A Mayor? Hell, I bet most of you couldn't even cut it on the middle school student council! Besides... He's got the only approval that really matters:

When you elect a president, especially one taking over a situation like America's... You have to give him at least four years before you really evaluate him or hold him to any standards. I'm just glad we've finally got a president who's doing things the right way. Someone who we can be proud of and respect as a man, unlike the guy we had here before. That guy had alcohol problems, and his assistants were shameful human beings. His offensive coordinator assaulted a guy over 60, for crying out loud! I'll never understand why we extended that guy's contract... Anyway... Even if Obama is never really successful, I'll be grateful for what he's done to right the ship and clean house. And you can say what you want about his popularity and public support, but America's population has never been higher. The numbers don't lie... People are excited about what the future holds under this president, and it's important for us all to rally behind him. If you can't support him, we don't need you. Go root for Canada or Mexico, you fair-weather citizens.

Poorly constructed quad-bike? ATV disaster? Grandma broke her coccyx out at the dunes?
-
And the correct answer probably lies somewhere in between. Or closer to your guess. All I know is that it's going to be a very important 21 game series. VERY important.
-
If we don't, I think we should consider bulldozing the Super Pit.

I think we could drop 2 out of 3 between Western and Troy on the road and Denver at home. But we could conceivably win all of those games, too. Figure 2 out of 3 are losses, with one letdown game against someone we ought to beat. That's where my optimistic projection is coming from. Three non-conference games left: Houston Baptist on the road, and Southeastern Louisiana and Texas Southern at home. Southeastern Louisiana is the only one that appears capable of even putting up a fight. Despite the threat of their adequacy, we should be able to win all of those. It's a long season and a lot can happen with other teams improving from their non-conference performance. I'm not saying we're above the rest of the league, but I will say that the rest of the conference doesn't seem to be performing as well as I'd expected so far, while we're exactly where I realistically expected us to be. I'm not making any Football Parent Guarantees, but I do think a scenario with just 3 more regular season losses is a distinct possibility.
-
I'm curious to hear what others think the stakes are, and what the consequences ought to be if we don't finish this segment of the schedule flawlessly.
-
So... 4-0? Can we?
-
This is an absolutely critical, do-or-die four game stretch at home. The importance of this four game stretch cannot possibly be overstated. Can we go 4-0?
-
Quoner, FilmerJ, and I just got back from College Station. I love this team so hard... Anyone want a bold prediction with nothing to back it up? Here you go: 3 more regular season losses for this team this year. 23-6 final regular season record. Barring a catastrophic injury to an irreplaceable component (Josh/George/Eric), I really think this team, with this schedule, in the SBC as it appears to be this season can go 15-3 or better in conference. Anyone who wants to hate on this team for not being something else is welcome to be a miserable jackass, but I love it for what it is and what it can be this year. The pre-conference schedule shook out as I expected if not as well as I'd hoped, and the conference looks weaker than I thought it would be. I hope the surly achievers in our fan base can resign themselves to another 20+ win season and a better-than-not shot at an NCAA or NIT bid, because that's what this season looks like to me.
-
That's a good PR strategy.
-
If A&M were playing Stanford or Steven F. Austin, they'd get killed. Against us? They'd better be concerned.
-
Yep, that was us. We were in the same section... You and your girlfriend were the younger couple. I don't think anyone in attendance was "heckling" the way I usually think of the word... Just couldn't think of a better way of saying "Yelling towards a guy shooting free throws in a non-profane, non-derogatory fashion meant to distract and hopefully unnerve him without being socially inappropriate". It was funny... She actually yelled at a guy way before I ever did. She did a timing yell at one of their bigs when he was shooting a free throw, and he wound up missing. So between the lot of us, our almost empty section shouted down at least 3 free throw shots in what wound up being a two point game. The five of us should get statues or something. We were sitting behind some kids one row and dividing walkway below us, so I pretty much just kept quiet because I didn't want to inadvertently say something inappropriate for 5 year olds. Had I known your yelling depended on me, I would have gotten vocal much sooner Were the acoustics terrible for you, or was it just our row?
