  1. Can they win on the road this year? No proof of it yet. Can they close out a game or hold on to a lead when they're in command in the 2nd half? I'll believe it when I see it, and I saw all evidence to the contrary last year, twice. To para the phrase... Until further notice, they are who I thought they were. The sky isn't falling yet.
  2. 1) How do you abuse Craig James' kid? Hold money out of his weekly postgame envelope? Take away his loaner car? What's "abuse" to a guy who played for SMU in the Death Penalty infraction days? 2) If Mike Leach needs an image rebuilding job (like Mangino already does) next season... That makes me optimistic for the future.
  3. Does your analysis factor in how effectively the new coaches are training players to be quality husbands and fathers someday? Because I hear we've got that going for us.
  4. Since that's where you set the bar, I'll wager you that we win at least three of those games. Loser owes the winner a tasty soda beverage and commemorative cup at the home game that follows that stretch?
  5. Odufuwa is a junior. What train rolls to the championship now that we've been derailed? Even without DJ, I still think we're the favorites.
  6. I just shared my thoughts/expectations elsewhere. I'll go out on a limb and call the 3 games at UALR, Arkansas State, and ULL a "critical 3 game stretch". Like SUMG said... After the FIU game, nothing can be taken for granted. But UALR was weak even before losing Mike Smith. ULL is a total basket case team. And Arkansas State is struggling badly. Boone is already gone, they may be losing another guard for the season because of Mike Lance's back problems, and they've got SERIOUS free throw issues. Way worse than ours. Three on the road against those teams will go a long way towards convincing me that we can consistently play above competition where we have the talent advantage. If we lose any of those... Then I'll start getting very concerned about what we can accomplish this year.
  7. Congrats. We made a lot of merriment at SMU's expense, particularly on our old website... But if one Metroplex team can dig their way out of a godawful hole, good for them. Misery loves company, but there's no joy in both our programs being disasters. Enjoy the moment.
  8. I know we're slagging FIU for losing to the likes of Florida Gulf Coast... But as was pointed out on the SBC forum today, Florida Gulf Coast just beat a Big East DePaul team with a winning record. I still hate this loss, though.
  9. 1) Bravo for what I think is a mathematical behavioral modeling reference that also doubles as a shot at this whole ridiculous situation. 2) Welcome to the dark side.
  10. Look out, San Diego. This whole SDSU situation could blow up worse than the USS Bennington.
  11. On this forum, we obey the laws of THERMODYNAMICS!!!! (Thank you for setting up that reference)
  12. Alabama? Doesn't he realize that the women at Auburn are a lot hotter? At least, I think that's how it goes. I get mixed up easily.
  13. Since we're making inappropriate plane disaster references... Who else remembers Pacific Southwest Flight 182? San Diego can handle a lot of adversity.
  14. I'm not Catholic, and I'm not an environmentalist. Apply THAT.
  15. How is this thread similar to a representation of hyperbolic decay? They're both expressions of simple interest. MATH HUMOR!!!
  16. Wow... Too soon? Apparently not!
  17. Getting back on the subject... Mandy McKinley is moving on to greener pastures. If you haven't said goodbye yet, it's because she hasn't called you, or you haven't called her. It's never too soon or too late to wish her well.
  18. I think that if we didn't care about the APR so much, things like that wouldn't happen. Situations like that just show how deeply we love the APR. Also, you are a hijacker, sir. Of crappy photoshop work. I will be expecting your notarized apology ASAP.
  19. I would just like to point out that I've been a super fan longer than all but a handful of you. And for those few, I've been a way better superfan than you have, even if you have been at it longer than me. So, take that. I win.
  20. I hijacked at least three other supplementary Pit Crewers. Crowning achievement of my day of disruption. But, of course, you already know that.
  21. Then everyone looses. Especially Vitttttto.
  22. To give an equally serious, if limited, response... Nothing here has anything to do with the subject of this thread. At all. A lesser person would point out the irony. I'll just point out that I'm not pointing out the irony. Because I'm a small, but not tiny, person.
  23. Started very well, scoring quickly and efficiently. SE Louisiana got a lot of offensive boards. Defense was quite good for most of the game, lots of blocks, very few uncontested shots. Played very well as far as interior scoring and seemed to have way more blocks than usual. Tristan shot very well. We had one of our usual 4-5 minute cold stretches in the 2nd half, but we still wound up beating a very solid team by double digits. As bad as the FIU loss made us look, the overall effort and general control we exhibited over this game went a long way towards making us look very formidable again. Cam Spencer and Ben Knox never saw the floor.
  24. I'll make a deal with you two- I'll never make another "off topic" post again on this forum if you two agree to never again start, reply, or in any way contribute to any politically oriented topic on GMG. Not a joke. Otherwise, I think we'll have to agree to tolerate the little things we do that annoy each other. And everyone will just have to put up with the types of posts we make that may or may not violate the explicitly stated preferences and rules of the moderating staff. EDIT: Nothing personal... Rick knows that I'm his superpal. I don't know yyz personally, but I don't have any hard feelings towards him, either.
