List Of Undrafted Nfl Free Agent Signings
TheTastyGreek replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
Very well put. Someone beat me to the first +1, so have another. I think it's also a case of trotting out an annual gripe that isn't accurate this year. -
List Of Undrafted Nfl Free Agent Signings

Actually... Other than the 6 BCS conferences and the MWC... Nobody had more players drafted than the Sun Belt. Not the WAC, C-USA, or MAC. There's a list broken down by conference on the SBC forum. -
Last Scholarship Filled Monday Or This Week ?
TheTastyGreek replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Also... I missed this whole discussion because I was a little tied up on Monday, fetching Mountain Dew and Dove bars. But we can't technically get an official transfer from Carmouche for more than two months. From the January article about UNO's official withdrawl: Carmouche can declare his intentions... But nothing would stop him from changing his mind, because he can't go on scholarship until effectively the fall semester. -
Last Scholarship Filled Monday Or This Week ?

They didn't have anyone who could recruit him or set up the visit without running afoul of the NCAA. Here's a story about Tulane dealing with a similar problem by having their AD assume a temporary assistant job and passing the NCAA recruiting compliance test. I thought maybe ULL since they're getting a late run on recruiting due to the Marlin hire... But no word of it on any of their forums or from any beat writers. -

Anyone ever find out where Carmouche's other visit was? No word from the New Orleans paper, no word on any SBC message board I've found. -

Big +1 to both of you. This made me laugh out loud. Edit: Make that one of you... UNTIL TOMORROW

You said it. I'd offer you a helmet sticker or a uniform redesign if I could, but the +/- system doesn't have a feature for those.

I believe that's what the french call "sarcasm". It's a coping mechanism. It's the often forgotten 6th Stage of Grief.

There's a different set of rules for players who leave early to play professionally. From the NCAA's official site: Basically, as long as they fake grades and the players leave as academically eligible athletes, Kentucky will not lose any retention points. And they not only won't get a lower APR score... Their APR score will actually move closer to perfect. Because they'll have a maximum 1 point per eligible player going pro, and they'll earn full credit for all that fall under that rule.

Vito Wrapup On Spring Football
TheTastyGreek replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
True comedy is saying I'm being redundant in response to an article where Dodge says the exact same bullcrap we've heard for the 3rd straight offseason now. This year, they really really REALLY REALLY REEEEEEALLY no fooling care. Honest, for true, no takebacks, no crossed fingers. Not like before (apparently). Not that it matters, because it's essentially meaningless coachspeak anyway. Check it off the offseason list, just like Dickey's annual oath to open up the passing game. -
Sweet. This year's President. I look forward to the bright new future of temporary campus leadership, below the System (and Chancellor) level. When your President is shuttled in and out like this, aren't they basically just turning into the Grand Marshall of the semi-annual parade of graduates? Couldn't we at least reach out and get someone famous and maybe land some publicity out of this deal? Hot Springs got John Ratzenberger from "Cheers" and Bo Derek from famous cinematic nakedness to be their parade grand marshalls. Don't tell me that town has PASSED US BY. If we don't get George Wendt or that chick from Logan's Run as our next next interim president, then I have to question the leadership here.

Can you imagine the sort of abusive, neglectful future husbands and fathers must have slouched their way through those years? -
And SMU. And illegal immigrants. And Mandy, still pulling strings from southern California.

Orlando Early Steps Down As Ulm Coach

I didn't think of that, either. But it's a damn good idea. -
Orlando Early Steps Down As Ulm Coach
TheTastyGreek replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This is all eerily familiar. It's like Buzz Williams all over again. I just hope it isn't a signal of things to come. When you consider what ULM did in replacing Weatherbie and what budget may dictate they do in replacing Early... I don't want to mention New Orleans... But this does make me wonder about the state of their athletics program. -
I'll be in touch very soon to discuss Emmitt's hospitality requirements and appearance fee. No photographs, autographs will be available afterward for $15 generic, $25 with a custom message (10 words or less).

It's like signing day Hanukkah. Every day, we get a new LOI. And we're learning a valuable lesson about perseverance and lamp oil.

ESPN's Lunardi does a preliminary 2011 bracket for the proposed 96 team field. How great a deal would the expanded field be for the non power conferences? Well, here's the breakdown by multi-bid conference (compared to their 2010 representation): Big East (13) (5 more bids than 2010) ACC (12) (+6) Big 12 (9) (+2) Big Ten (8) (+3) SEC (8) (+4) Atlantic 10 (6) (+3) Conference USA (4) (+2) Mountain West (4) (NO CHANGE) Pac-10 (4) (+2) Missouri Valley (3) (+2) Colonial (2) (+1) Horizon League (2) (+1) Mid-American (2) (+1) West Coast (2) (NO CHANGE) So, the six BCS leagues would get 22 of the 31 additional spots in the tournament, with 3 more going to the unofficial 7th power conference, the Atlantic 10. Meanwhile, the other 26 conferences would, combined, get one more new berth than the ACC will add. And that's only with Kent State being the last team in the field. But, on the plus side... EVERY SINGLE TEAM IN THE ACC would qualify. Making their entire regular season and conference tournament essentially irrelevant for tournament qualification. Awesome. Looks like a great plan.

And it's finally here. Should get one or two inked LOIs by the end of the day for Edwards and McGhee.

A rebuttal: James Madison - let the White House get conquered by a bunch of British. If it wasn't for his wife, we'd have lost some valuable artwork. Jimmy Carter - almost got his ass kicked by a deranged aquatic swamp rabbit. Stuff like that made us lose face in front of the communists. John Tyler - was secretly Spanish, and he spent his entire term exporting precious specie to his homeland. Martin Van Buren - killed a bunch of prostitutes and buried them in the rose garden. Sort of like a "Jack the Ripper" with a bully pulpit. Warren Harding - seriously, he was probably the worst president we've ever had. A disgrace on almost all fronts, and a caretaker of shameful corruption. Even on a joke list, Harding has to be included.
