  1. Did you know that Neil Armstrong was adopted from an orphanage in New Mexico in the fall of 1947?
  2. I don't know if anyone else was aware of this... But Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln and Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Ninjaface?
  3. Ipso, fatso.
  4. K.C. Ross-Miller will NOT play against North Texas as an LSU Tiger... He was ruled ineligible by the academic clearinghouse. LSU also lost Bo Spencer- their leading scorer, starting PG, most experienced player, and a 14.5 ppg scorer in his junior year. I feel bad for both guys... But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy about how it sets the table for potentially a very nice road win against an SEC team this year.
  5. Didn't realize this, but Alonzo Edwards (our JUCO early signee from last year) was also an ESPN 91 grade when he originally committed to Nebraska.
  6. Metroplex Hoops mentioned that one or two other surprise big names might commit to us sooner than later. K-State forum 2011 recruit thread says that rumor is at least one other "high-major type" may be on the horizon for us.
  7. One more bit of historical context... For anyone who remembers Brandon "Snap" Peters, the SG we were in on early last season before he verbaled to WKU in late November... Rivals and ESPN both have Jordan Williams graded higher and ranked higher in his class than Peters was for 2010. Also, Williams is 4 inches taller (and counting).
  8. 3 stars covers a wide, wide range of players. Rivals says this is the 124th best recruit in the country this year. ESPN says he's the 8th best player in the state of Texas. Getting this guy is evidence of how the many things you mentioned that we've got going for us are starting to pay off, bigger and bigger. For reference, compared to our amazing 2007 signing class... Rivals had Odufuwa as a 3 star and 16th in the state of Texas, not ranked nationally out of high school when he signed with Arizona State. We got him a year later as a transfer. Tristan Thompson was a Rivals 3 star, not nationally ranked or ranked in the state. Josh White was a Rivals 2 star, 10th in the state of Louisiana. We had a highly regarded, fantastic pickup in last year's class in RJ McGhee, and another well heralded great pickup the year before in Jacob Holmen. 2007 was the mother lode in terms of recent recruiting for us. But as far as national rankings and accolades... Williams blows everyone else in our recent recruiting history completely out of the water. Recruiting isn't an exact science and opinions may vary (though ESPN seems to agree with Rivals, given that Williams' 91 grade puts him 131st nationally). But the fact that this kid is the highest ranked recruit we've landed in the past 4 or 5 years (unless you count Rod Flemings as a never-saw-the-floor academic casualty transfer) says something. We've brought in some really good players, and they weren't flying under the radar when we inked them. And the experts say this guy is even more talented than they were. That's what makes this so encouraging. And he's only the first commit of the year. That's the best part. Even if he's the centerpiece and nobody else that signs is a bigger deal than him, Williams is still gifted enough to make this a great class. But getting him first, so long before early signing... This could be the tip of a fantastic, sexy iceberg.
  9. I'd be winning, if it weren't for his pesky airplane... And exceptional tailgate food... And less controversial reputation... And probably some other stuff, too. It's not over yet, though...
  10. Something Special continues to happen here. What a great day for the continued success of NT basketball, and a great tease for what else may be yet to come.
  11. ESPN Recruiting listing on Jordan Williams. Blurb on ESPN.com's Recruiting Trail. They've got him listed as a Power Forward (?), 21st overall as a PF in the class of 2011. Graded at 91, tying him for the 8th best overall prospect in the state.
  12. Seriously, people! Recruits read this stuff! If they keep seeing that we're thrilled to get talented commits and that we're elated over how they'll allow us to maintain and build upon our recent legacy of success... Then what? Damn negative Vito!!!
  13. It'll be halloween before you know it!
  14. If this thing lasts more than 4 hours, I'm supposed to go to the emergency room... Right?
  15. If he backs out, make sure to chain us together before you push him.
  16. I'll let them know that you'll be demanding the standard fruit basket, muffin basket, and liquor basket.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrNlyFyuamY As a theme song for us, the first line makes up for the minor jumbling of pronouns.
  18. Which one is the emoticon for "tears of joy"?
  19. What if I offered to pay $15? Maybe $17.50?
  20. I was wondering what happened to TYMat C. At least the mystery is solved.
  21. It's the ugliest rivalry I've seen in the Mean Greeniverse since Tobi Writes poisoned the EagleTalk.net guy.
  22. Beat me to the quote. Love it. I can't wait to read Part 17 of the interview Vito did with this recruit.
  23. I'm glad my bumper sticker worked and you Never Forgot.
  24. Metroplex Hoops says Williams has cut his list down to 5 schools, and we're still on it. Marquette, Georgia, Arizona State, Houston, and North Texas.
  25. Be glad to have you as our guests. We're easy to find, just look for the Mean Green colored Greek flag. Unfortunately, contrary to what I've been planning since the end of last season... No gyros this year. I need a generator to power any worthwhile broiler I could buy, and my fiancee and I are on the verge of buying a house. Can't justify the expense on both right now. But we'll have all the old standbys, and next year I will have this whole parking lot gyros situation figured out.
