Channel 8 Investigates Southlake Carroll
TheTastyGreek replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
I think of him as more of a mix between Rodney Dangerfield and Lyle Lanley. -
I don't think anyone is changing their opinion on what happened last year with Thompson and the last game. Bringing it up isn't accomplishing anything and nobody is going to see it any way but the way they already see it.

Ranking The Belt Basketball Arenas
TheTastyGreek replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Not sure why that suite level photo popped up when I looked for photos. Are you in Colorado now, or were you born there? If you're there now... Do you generally go for NT games when the basketball team is in town? Would you recommend it? -
Ranking The Belt Basketball Arenas
TheTastyGreek replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Looks phenomenal. Appears to have a suite level, full in-arena video/ribbon presentation... I've got a bet that comes due at the end of the year. A friend is going to owe me a round trip plane ticket to any reasonably priced advance booked destination in the continental U.S. that American covers. He likes Denver (the city) a lot, so I may collect on a schedule that allows me to watch a game there. -
Yeah, well... The Soviet Union was pretty intimidating back in the 60's and 80's, too. At least the godless commies are self-aware enough not to run around screaming "scoreboard" in the here-and-now. As for that national championship from 30 years ago... Congrats. I wish we had one in football. Lafayette College has three, but I don't exactly think it makes them relevant today. And I'd dig those 13 conference championships more if they hadn't all come before most Clemson undergrads were born. You wanna impress us? When's the last time you people beat Western Kentucky? Huh? Yeah, that's what I thought. Point- NORTH TEXAS.

I skipped the Army game to see the OSU game in Stillwater last year. No regrets on that one. I'm planning on going to see basketball again this year. It'll take a HELL of a football season to pull me away from it, if it's even possible. It's nice that we've got a good range of holiday weekend options in NT sports.

If you feel the same way about basketball... There's probably going to be room in the car.

Thread Vito blog blurb I don't want to sound like I'm knocking the kid... I hope he comes in here and earns a role. But he's a replacement for Antoine Matlock, not someone I'd expect to push Alzee aside.

Agree. And +1. I love that once we start digging a hole, we're suddenly pricks to everyone else under the sun. "Look at their track! It's almost as destructive to distance and ambiance as the one in the stadium we still play in..."

Western Athletic Conference Still Mulling Its Options
TheTastyGreek replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
I travel there. -
Sure, that may be true if you're talking about seats... But what about CAPACITY?
-
Ahhh yes... Going downhill. What a delightful metaphor for the football tradition. Does Clemson still play home games in Baton Rouge?

We're just having fun here. That's why I threw in the jab at our own kicking game. As for the 6th or 7th most relevant... I stand by my joke. Fun Fact: Of all the teams in the ACC, Clemson is the only one besides Duke (and possibly Virginia... I forget) that doesn't have at least one 10 win season in the past 20 seasons. Ordinarily, it's not a bad thing to be lumped in athletically with Duke. Too bad it's football and not basketball. Here in Texas, we know where teams that consistently mediocre their way to 6-9 wins belong. It's called the Holiday Bowl. Among BCS schools out here, it's a badge of shame. Even East Carolina has double digit wins more recently than Clemson does. And they did it in a year where they actually beat Virginia Tech. Bump Clemson down to 7th or 8th in the Carolinas, and see if the Pirates can share the book on how to beat the Hokies.

Thanks for the heads up. Here's the rest of the uncommitted Texas talent: National Ranking - Name - Position - UNT Interest/Offer listed? 41. D'Angelo Harrison - SG - No/No 83. Jonathan Holmes - PF - No/No 84. Jarion Henry - SF - No/No 88. Antwan Space - PF - No/No 94. Cannen Cunningham - PF - No/No 106. Devonta Abron - PF - No/No 140. D'Von Campbell - PG - No/No 146. Keaton Miles - SF - No/No Kyan Anderson is no longer a national top 150, and he doesn't list on Rivals with NT interest or offer. Still a 3-star recruit, though. Abron and Miles are both Dallas Mustangs, so there's an AAU connection to Jordan Williams. Not sure why Rivals doesn't list us for players we know are visiting and considering offers from us.

One minor element of either the offense or defense (usually the O-line) 'graded out' at ____, which is grounds for optimism. We've got a really young team, and they're still learning how to deal with that adversity. There's still a lot of time left in the season. Plenty of time for us to reach most of our really important goals. I think a lot of folks may not realize the level of football that's played in our conference these days. (Insert team other than Western Kentucky) is a pretty good little team, and (insert coach other than Dave Ellson) is doing some nice things over there. No matter what happened on the field last Saturday, our boys never stopped fighting, and I'm so proud of them for that. A lot of people may just look at the final, and not realize that with (insert length of time in the game) left, we were still hanging in there with a chance to win the thing. I tell my men that you can't control luck, all you can do is prepare for the things that you CAN control. This was another one where if we'd just had 1 or 2/3/4/5 plays go our way, the final result would have been in our favor. I think if you look at the effort and the performance by our guys, we deserved to win this game. Unfortunately, that's true of both teams. This was a tough one between two very hungry teams, and we just didn't catch the breaks we needed to make the difference. Am I happy that this one went in the loss column? No, I'm not. Nobody wants to win more than I do, unless maybe it's the men who are on this journey with me. But we're going to stick together and keep fighting, and I believe that it's going to turn around for us. There are still ___ games left, and I think we can show the kind of results we want, the kind of results our fans are wanting. I'll tell you one thing- whatever the final results are at the end of a game, I know what's in the hearts of those boys out there. Win or lose, I'm proud to be taking this journey with them, and I know that the struggles and the fight we're going through today are going to make all of them BETTER HUSBANDS AND FATHERS SOMEDAY. ------------ There, that's pretty much everything I've ever heard in three years of listening to Todd Dodge Radio Shows. Anyone who can't make it out in person this season or who may not have the chance to listen live on the radio... I'd be happy to do all of those in my best Todd Dodge impression on a telephone voicemail so they can enjoy a Todd Dodge Radio Show any time that's convenient.

He's just damn lucky he got that stadium passed. That's all I'll say. He's back on thin ice, even with that in his favor. Otherwise, I'd have gathered up the torches and pitchforks and led an apathetic observer lynch mob over to his house. Don't put "Jinxed Rangers no-hitter" in any future campaign material, Flyer.

When I agree with you, yes. That earns you a waiver. When I think you're wrong about something or when you point out my ignorance/stupidity, then I reserve the right to use this fact as a weapon against you.
