  1. "And the answer is: 'Kids don’t respond to interim coaches like they would head coaches. Generally speaking that is the players’ worst academic semester. They are less focused in the weight room and in life. There are going to be more issues with behavior.' " "What is: The fallacy of confusing the impact of a doomed coach and failed season with the impact of firing that coach mid-season.' "Correct for $200! You still control the board." "Let's take 'Funny Money' for $1.6 million"
  2. From this year's regular season attendance averages: Oklahoma - 1,001 Notre Dame - 401 Michigan - 1,023 Ohio State - 1,028 UCLA - 875 USC - 619 Missouri - 805 4 schools in CUSA drew 1,500+ this year, but pulling even a relatively modest crowd of 1,000 per game is too much for those power schools with huge fan bases to manage. Less than 70 schools in all of D1 sports managed 1,000+ per game in 2017. Even if we managed it for an inaugural season... I'm skeptical that we'd perform that well over any extended period of time, even if we were relatively successful.
  3. I don't actually think a baseball team is a good idea. I was pretty against it for years, briefly excited about it when we were good at basketball and seemed to be improving in football, and have since gone back to thinking it's a bad idea here. For all the reasons you mentioned.
  4. Baseball is definitely, definitely coming. Sooner than 2016. Remember that whenever grand plans and secret info from caravans or wherever else gets brought up to shame anyone out of reasonable skepticism or complaints about anything else we have going on. Anyway... Baseball. Pre-2016. That's the inside scoop, straight from a lot of mouths right inside the horse stables. Take it to the bank. And if you don't believe it, maybe you ought to travel back in time and ask for yourself. #GiveMeLibertyOrGiveMeBaseballBefore2016!
  5. Hip men don't wear exposed toe shoes. Don't confuse hip with hippie.
  6. I just assume that, due to hipness, he wears baseball caps at a rakish and unorthodox angle. And when he sits down on a chair, he spins it 180 degrees and straddle-sits whenever physically possible. Braided belt Blakeley- yay or nay?
  7. Icarus with Oakleys and sweet retro Airwalks.
  8. Like, Icarus?
  9. 22" driver side, 21" passenger.
  10. They've known all their lives that there's got to be a better way.
  11. He's got the funky fresh flavor that all the cats and kittens are hep to hear. When he throws his hands in the air, it may appear like Chris Blakeley don't care... But you'd better believe that the rest of The Club does. Because he's an influencer.
  12. Well, we got a 2021 home game. All we have to do is sell $1,320,001 worth of tickets, concessions, and merchandise at that game, and we'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Suck it, ODU.
  13. What hole? We dropped 2018 and 2021 according to the Liberty site that FOIA'd the contract. Everything else shows Army is still live for 2019 and 2020.
  14. This changes nothing, nothing, nothing about "available dates". According to the linked story, we were playing Army on 9/8/18 and Incarnate Word on 9/22/18. Now, we play Incarnate Word on 9/8 and Liberty on 9/22. In 2021, we played Army on 10/9, now we play Liberty on 10/9. Anything else that happens didn't need this to happen, because we literally just shifted existing games around on already set dates.
  15. We were on the road at Army next year, home against them in 2021. Now, we're on the road against Liberty next year, home against them in 2021. 2018 schedule isn't going to change to get us a better series. We're already on the hook to pay Incarnate Word and take a check from Arkansas. The only other OOC game that year is home against SMU, and I don't see us dropping or swapping that. 2021 is the same thing. We're already on the hook to pay Rhode Island, and take a check from Missouri. And we're on the road at SMU. If the 2022 schedule changes, or if we add another series like Tech for 2059 (or whenever), it's completely independent of this switch. This didn't open up a date, this didn't swap a road for a home or anything that could allow us to juggle other 2018 and 2021 games or take a road game at a desperate lower P5 school in exchange for a home game of our own. We had Army, now we've got Liberty. Other stuff might happen that's completely independent of that change, but at the end of the day, Army out and Liberty in. And I think it sucks. The rationalization is that playing Army is a burden in terms of travel, preparation, scheme, and dangerous, injury-prone style of attack. So, thank goodness we're not playing against Army in OOC anymore, I suppose. Except for 2019 and 2020, of course. I blame Tulsa for all of this. Makes perfect sense if any of the rest of it does.
  16. Whatever else is happening DIDN'T NEED THIS TO HAPPEN. If we're about to announce something else, great! I can't wait for good news. But this is a closed book. If we announce tomorrow that we've got a home and home with Texas... Great! But this still sucks, and dropping Army to make Liberty happen is still dumb and bad. And completely irrelevant and unnecessary to making that or any other future series happen.
  17. The rest of the plan is not contingent on this change. We swapped Army for Liberty, with no sweeteners or concessions, and it's dumb. Anything else that happens didn't need this to happen. We can see it in isolation, since we literally swapped A for B, and I think it's dumb as hell.
  18. Not at Caneloweight. Full 160 middleweight.
  19. Don't blame you. They also offer live streams, which you could of course watch through your TV. But they cost as much as the full PPV.
  20. Movie theater. Cheaper than home, better than bar. I buy one or two fights a year max. Last night, @@UNTSportsFan and I watched at the Cinemark at Vista Ridge. Less than $20, thick padded recliners, enormous screen, good and respectful audience. Golden Boy (Canelo's promoters) usually have 4 or 5 metroplex theaters showing the fight. We watched Canelo v Khan in Grapevine. Sometime a week or so before the fight, look around online and I'm sure (if you're still in Lewisville) you can see it for less than $20 and within 20-25 miles, max. If you've ever enjoyed boxing, you'll probably love this fight. Hopefully it's at Jerryworld.
  21. How? What does this do that NOT this wouldn't do just as well? We had Army scheduled. Now we have Liberty scheduled. Liberty is a worse team to see on our schedule. Home and home is even worse. No paycheck AND starting the series there is even worse than that. Moving Army games can potentially improve our schedule. Immediately replacing them with Liberty games just makes it worse. Whatever else happens, this doesn't free anything up. 2018 and 2021 are now WORSE. We still play 2018 on the road, so this doesn't even give us flexibility to start a different 2018 series on the road, the easiest way to get a good home-and-home from a team in a bad scheduling spot. This doesn't do anything or open up any opportunities for 2018, 2021, or any years beyond that NOT doing this wouldn't have done. No money incentive. No improvement to our schedule appeal, either by giving us a chance at a 7th 2018 home game or upgrading the appeal of our 2021 home opponent. Why the hell is this happening??
  22. Golovkin v Canelo, September 16th. Finally.
