  1. That's not a bad truck. Not exactly cutting edge technology, but more modern than a truck I worked as recently as 2 years ago for FSN and CSTV. Very reliable Grass Valley switcher with two MEs and a similarly sturdy DVE. I'll bet Eagle D will be by shortly to sing the praises of that board, if he happens to see this thread. Four dedicated replay options, a dual channel Infinit! (people still use the hell out of those... a lot of Chyron people would rather live operate on a well developed Infinit! installation than a Duet). Nice, 36+ channel Yamaha M2000 mixer. Not a digital board, but the value of a digital board drops dramatically for something like live sports. That's a pretty decent truck. Phenomenal, for a college program.
  2. Or, maybe, it might be because KWRD has a Height Above Average Terrain (HAAT) that's about 4x greater than KNTU. Meaning that its broadcast range far exceeds KNTU's. And, if I'm not mistaken, KWRD gets a signal that comes through KNTU. So if there were some problem with KNTU's "overall quality", putting the downstream signal on KWRD wouldn't do anything to solve it.
  3. Not quite correct. Bobby Rainey is 5th in the nation and has two more rushing TDs than Lance does.
  4. If only we had a definitive, thorough, authoritative tally of how many times everyone turned the ball over... Oh, wait a minute...
  5. EDIT: Not worth continuing this. Words mean things. Don't say "turnovers" if you don't mean turnovers. Especially when they'd still be turnovers if we lost possession.
  6. Also, in 34 combined minutes, the trio had two total turnovers. English may not be my first language, but I think "several" requires at least three to be an appropriate word choice.
  7. Easier to read this time?
  8. He's gone now. Don't make us say it to hammer home the point; there's no need to tap dance on his grave.
  9. I did indeed see it live. We got 40 points off the bench. I don't care whether it was in the paint or on the perimeter... At least we're scoring off the bench. Also, if you look at scoring efficiency in terms of time on the floor... Holmen and Edwards scored more points per minute on the floor than Hogans or Odufuwa. I don't care if they're missing shots from the floor when they get fouled as long as they hit the free throws that follow. Points are points. Knox will not play double digit minutes against a full D1 schedule, especially once Cam Spencer gets back.
  10. 3 OOC D1 wins tonight: UALR beat SMU, WKU knocks off St Joe's (nice to get an A-10 OOC win), and FAU over UC-Davis. The first two are both road wins, the best way to boost RPI. The last is a neutral site game, which is even better for the RPI than winning at home. 4 losses: Denver to UCSB, ULL to New Mexico State, ASU to Mississippi, and ULM to Texas Tech. None of those losses were really a surprise, but it is a bummer that Denver and ULL didn't do better against their level of opposition.
  11. Or? I'm with him.
  12. He did share it. Courtland (in town from L.A. and lounging on my couch watching ESPN at the moment) ate 80% of it. Side note: If anyone wants to win a free pizza, sit behind MeanMag and me. 2 games, 2 pizzas. Apparently, we're a magnet for that promotion.
  13. We have six graduating seniors: George, Josh, Tristan, Dominique, Cam Spencer, and Shannon Shorter. We have two open scholarships still outstanding: The one that used to be Collin Mangrum and the one that used to be RJ McGhee. Both could have been filled with players who would have been eligible for this season, but instead we're keeping them in reserve rather than using them on the options that were available over the summer. Or, in McGhee's case... Because we were already into the school year when he became an academic casualty and left for a JUCO. With five LOI's signed for the 2011 class, that leaves 3 open scholarships: One that becomes available at the end of this school year (currently applied to one of the six seniors) and two that could be used at any time between now and then. We could bring in Williams AND another midyear transfer without either of them having to walk on or wait until next academic year to enroll.
  14. Just for the record, JJ said two interesting things regarding how we may use the 3 remaining scholarships (2 of which are currently open). First, he made it a point to start by saying that the early signing window doesn't close until the 17th. Maybe we're not done just yet? Second, he (unprompted) started discussing the possibility of using open scholarships on transfer players. He can't talk about potential additions that aren't official yet, so I had no intention of asking him about transfers... But he brought it up himself. For anyone who wants to wildly overreact to possible vague hints... There you have it.
  15. I think we all know that Scrappy would be out the door in a heartbeat as soon as he got a few wins and picked up another job offer. Also, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with his "off-the-field" issues. He's constantly flirting with my fiancee and I see him getting physical with women all over NT sporting events. On the plus side, he seems to be a natural at recruiting. As long as we get him started on future recruits around the age of 5 or 6, I don't think anyone can out recruit Scrappy.
  16. This is almost identical, in terms of schedule setup, to the Oklahoma State game in 2007. I'm not saying we're a slam dunk to win it or anything, but I'm not concerned because of the timing.
  17. He's a true freshman walk-on. Behind at least one other walk-on guard (and maybe two? Is Nick Goff gone?) that actually has game experience. If we see see Avery Redmond on the court outside of the waning minutes of a blowout in the middle of the season, I'll be shocked and disappointed. Definitely not in a tune-up exhibition when we need to get two returning injured guys and two relatively inexperienced inside guys (Knox and Edwards) into the flow of game action.
  18. The guy shooting 3's was Robbie Deheck, former linebacker on the football team. Jimmyjames, congrats on the pizza. Say "hi" if I don't get to you first next time, because that's me two rows in front of you.
  19. Yeah, student section looked very, very good. For a Wednesday exhibition against a no-name team... That's a VERY good sign for the year to come.
  20. If it doesn't go well, it's because I'm not a pure "1" and didn't assist him in making his points.
  21. Just for the record, I don't think it is, either. I doubt this is going on at his request. I know if I were him and this were going down the way it appears to be, I'd be embarrassed.
  22. This is right on point. The constant, blatant shilling is what's pushing me over the edge into Plummer-esque rants. We're obviously going to get a lot of guests, many with their own agenda in commenting, stopping by because of the ongoing coaching search. The SDSU (or is it SJSU? Sorry if I mixed it up) guy has been a great outside voice. He's obviously got his own perspective and thoughts, and he's been polite and respectful whenever he thinks we're way off base on our opinions. I hope he'll stick around for a while. The guy who was here stumping for Leavitt was kind of a beating, but at least he was honest and candid about where he was coming from and why he was full bore pimping Leavitt as a candidate. He may have been abrasive, but at least he was up front about his bias. But the Canales folks are making the windmill people look like geniuses and masters of subtlety. It would annoy but not anger me if they'd just admit what they're trying to do. But this "I'm just a fan of North Texas!" and "I only want what's best for the program!" and so on and so forth is insulting and infuriating. Once you've been called out on it by half a dozen people, just admit why you're pushing the agenda you have, because the people here are not stupid and you are NOT fooling anyone.
  23. That's a fair question. I talked about this already on the thread that FFR started, but I'm very impressed with the improvement we've seen under Canales and the fundamental things he's already doing (timeouts, playcalling, etc.) that Dodge never seemed to get in his 3.5 years. What I mean when I say we ought to let this thing play out and see how he finishes is that there are still 3 more games to be played. If he keeps performing at this level, then he deserves fair consideration and I already said that I'd prefer keeping him to going out after a coordinator from some other program. But if we lose out, especially if we look bad doing it... Then all this Canales family salesmanship and poo flinging towards other names that may or may not be on the table would be totally pointless anyway. If things keep up, Canales will get his due respect and all the proper consideration that quality performance would deserve. If he doesn't, then he shouldn't and won't. I'm not saying that Canales has to go out and sweep the three remaining games and beat a bowl bound K-State team. I'm saying that all the campaigning by our vocal new board members won't be worth jack if the results don't hold up. Lose out, and there's no chance he's sticking around anyway. Basically, me loathing these people shouldn't be misread as me not recognizing or appreciating what the actual coach has shown us so far. All I'm saying is let the guy make his own case. Because the friends and family are not helping his cause, at least not with me. And, obviously, not with Plumm, either.
  24. Well, I don't believe you. And I don't understand how anyone that's been keeping up with your posting history wouldn't obviously and immediately conclude that your participation here is apparently dedicated to promoting Canales and immediately slamming on any other candidate that even gets whispered as a possibility.
