  1. You'd be surprised. I know Flyer and I both were.
  2. We'll beat UALR by 22, we'll finish the regular season beating Denver by 37, and our first round NCAA win should be by 40 points. I love trends. More than global warming and illegal immigrants combined.
  3. For the record... Utah Valley had the 6th worst RPI in all of D-1 basketball last year. 342 out of 347. One win, one loss... Two games that never should have been scheduled.
  4. Let some CUSA games get in the books and we'll see where UCF finishes the year. They're good, they're playing well, they started hot... But you can still make a strong case that there are anywhere from 2 to 4 teams that will outperform them in their own conference.
  5. Shavod Atkinson did the same thing. He was a "soft" verbal up to and including signing day. Can't remember who he held out for... Either West Virginia or Rutgers.
  6. It was much better (just like 'Murca and Mother Earth) before all the illegal immigrants started flooding the atmosphere with carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. WHO IS WITH ME???!?!?!eleven?
  7. Enough to take a bullet? Because talk is cheap, and I know that's your main measuring stick.
  8. Either global warming, or illegal immigrants. Not sure which one to blame in this situation, but it's gotta be one or the other.
  9. Very possible, but I'm not calling it until the final conference RPI numbers are in. There are a LOT of Southland teams with 2 or fewer D-1 wins, just like in our league. And nobody over there has done as well as we have.
  10. In the Barbershop Podcast where JJ was the guest, he answers a question about Luster and the value his hiring brings to the whole organization.
  11. If he doesn't shut out at least 3 teams next year, then JJ needs to be FIRED.
  12. Personally, I still think the Oklahoma State game was a bigger win for the modern era. It proved the tournament bid wasn't just a fluke run through the conference tournament... It happened in front of a huge crowd and changed a lot of people's perception of whether legit basketball could happen (or was in the process of happening) at North Texas... It came against a stronger team. But, anyone who sees this one as bigger or more significant because of any reasons mentioned (or unmentioned) before... No arguments or complaints. I'm just glad we're at a point where fans and alums, both current and those who were able to appreciate the Blakeley era, can look at the events of the past few years and honestly think that what's happening ranks up there as potentially the greatest we've ever experienced.
  13. This isn't the greatest win in our history, for sure. I don't even know that I'd put it ahead of the Oklahoma State win from a few years back. But it is a great one because it's a road win, a dominating blowout performance, and because it's the second power conference team we beat in the same year. If LSU were stronger this year, it might rank up there on the all-time list. My hope is that we get a win later this season that everyone can universally agree is the greatest in school history.
  14. Listening to this one online... The arena at Las Vegas is EMPTY. You can literally hear people talking to each other on the benches or in the stands.
  15. Pomeroy does cumulative probabilities. If you have a 90% likelihood of winning each of the 16 individual conference games, you've only got a 18.5% chance at actually going undefeated through all of them. His predictive model gives a probability for each individual game then a collective estimate based on those individual probabilities. If his model predicts you as a 51% favorite in 16 games, he's not actually projecting you to go 16-0. He's projecting you to go 8-8 or (maybe) 9-7. That's why there's a discrepancy. It's also why people shouldn't crap themselves when we lose to a team once or twice a year that we're "better than".
  16. I'll do you one better and put them in tiers, Bill Simmons style. The conference favorites: 1. UNT 2. FAU 3. WKU The underperformers who could still wake up and challenge for a title: 4. USA The team that's playing over their heads and could be a spoiler on any given night: 5. UALR The team that ought to be up near the top, but probably won't be able to pull out of their death spiral: 6. ASU The team with great coaching, but not enough talent: 7. ULL The teams with talent, but not enough coaching: 8. FIU 9. MTSU The UNO division: 10. ULM 11. UD 12. Troy
  17. Also, Sam Houston built it up as their big opportunity game of the season. They saved the banner raising for the game against us... Their 5th home game of the season, and on a week night just 4 days after hosting Houston on a weekend.
  18. I think he's still giving the talent edge to ASU, and I know he's been hinting that the 2nd place team in the west will be from Louisiana this year. As for FAU... Believe the hype. They're for real. Very scary, dangerous team.
  19. BOLD! This merits further discussion.
  20. K.C. Ross-Miller is now at New Orleans. Because of their transitional status, he can play right now and transfer anywhere he wants once the season is over. Played 6 minutes with a point, an assist, a steal, and a block.
  21. Good: You get west coast feeds for some cable channels, which was very nice back before I got DVR (in September) They send you an on screen alert every time there's any sort of free preview or service. I watched "There Will Be Blood" over a dozen times in one week during a Showtime free preview. That was awesome. Their service people are great, never really had any service interruptions for TV or internet. I liked their remote better than any other cable company I've had to use before Bad: Slightly more expensive than Verizon (though Verizon customer service makes me want to murder/kill/destroy) HD is only 720 instead of 1080, with no announced timeline to upgrade.
  22. This is why being a bachelor has advantages.
