TheTastyGreek replied to Grant.UNT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The first time I met SUMG, his carriage ran me over in the street outside Wooten Hall. When I cried out in pain over my shattered leg, he leaned out the window, spit a mouthful of aged Port right in my face, and ordered his driver to back up the horses and trample my other leg, too. It was a rocky start to a friendship, for sure. But years later, when we met for the second time... He gave me a shabby, worn out top hat that no longer suited even his most casual sleep or gardening wear. I still don that top hat with pride, as a symbol of forgiveness and brotherhood. -
Signing period closes on Wednesday (May 18th). Anyone who hasn't signed an LOI by then, they'll just be giving a verbal commitment to attend school in the fall. Not out of the ordinary... That's how we got Alzee Williams a few years ago. But nobody is truly locked in unless they sign by next week. Without the LOI, anyone could still change their minds between Thursday and September.

25 Best Marching Bands In The Land
TheTastyGreek replied to JuanA.Nuñez's topic in Mean Green Football
Merged with an already existing thread on the same topic. -
Not sure who gave you the -1, but that's balanced out now. Welcome to the forum. If you want to quote something that another poster wrote, just use the "Reply" button directly under their post instead of the one at the bottom of the topic. Don't worry about being unfamiliar with how all the forum features work. You'll pick it up quickly.

I'll see you at the next Admin's Dark Cabal. After the ritual sacrifice, we'll talk business. For anyone else interested in sharing a house for Hot Springs next year... Just let me know you're thinking about it. As long as I have some level of personal familiarity with you so that I know you aren't an axe murderer, and you don't have some sort of violent blood feud with anyone from previous years that already plans on returning... There shouldn't be any problem helping you find a swanky and economical place to stay. Last year it was $140 per person, and that covered all four nights. What I've done in past years is track properties through the fall, then talk with interested folks after Christmas/New Year's and book a place in January. Anyone who thinks they want to make the trip and get in on a house rental, just let me know over PM, email, or by stopping by the tailgate at a football game.

We may be doing two. One for couples, one for guys traveling solo. Makes it easier to get wives/girlfriends to come along for the trip, without cramping anyone's style. Nobody actually complained, and everyone seemed to have a really good time. But in the interest of marital harmony and everyone having the good time they expected when they made the trip... I'm thinking it's best to have one house set aside for conversations about feelings and rainbows and Food Network, while the other can talk sports non-stop. Everyone wins that way. And I'm expecting a lot of out-of-town turnout from people wanting to see Tony Mitchell play in person, so we might not have been able to find a big enough house for everyone, anyway.

Never.

Vito's latest blog entry says we play at Texas on November 29th. I know that's right about when the Month Of Doom is in full swing for NT03, but I'll be traveling down there with somebody.

We Got Bin Laden
TheTastyGreek replied to CMJ's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Clever, sir. And well played. Praise and popular acclaim have made you bolder in my absence. Slip up once, though, and I'll have my revenge. Moderating is like Highlander... One falls, and the rest of us grow stronger. -

Also for the record- I think everyone here agrees that Obama had one really good recruiting class, but he just didn't have the personality to... Wait, nevermind. -
We Got Bin Laden
TheTastyGreek replied to CMJ's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
For the official record- NO. Nothing has changed. I still got my nuts groped and swiped THREE TIMES and my bag opened ("randomly") twice at a departure gate. For the official record- British security officers prefer to gently pat your genitals, while Americans seem to take a sculptor/manual transmission approach to manipulating them. Bin Laden - Dead. Airport security - Still giving involuntary handjobs. Mission not accomplished, even if major combat operations are now over. -

I have a flight leaving in about 12 hours. Can I finally pack my F---ING SHAMPOO AGAIN??? -
Johnson makes Rod Flemings look like a pillar of stability. When the consensus top JUCO in the country gets cut loose from his commitment for vague, mysterious reasons that nobody wants to fully explain, AND gets kicked off his JUCO team, AND seems to have no interest from any major programs... The red flags and alarms are all over.

Obama releases a long form birth certificate. Same week, Superman renounces his citizenship. Coincidence? Also, is Superman doing this to steal our health care and overload our public education system? Do we have to teach Kryptonian in schools now? IS SUPERMAN A SECRET MUSLIM?!?!?! What precipitated the creation and use of the Eradicator and the Destroyer? Do you think the Clone Warriors woke up one day and said, for no reason, let us attack the other Kryptonians? Please think about it.

What precipitated the attack on Pearl Harbor? Do you think the Germans woke up one day and said, for no reason, let us attack the Americans? Please think about it.

Neither. No words. Just slap the Son of Worm logo on everything in place of a formal name. Like Prince did for a while. Just don't do it in black ink. Because that's not appropriate.

Jarion Henry---To Make College Announcement
TheTastyGreek replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Rivals finally updated the national Top 150 today. Jordan is 109, Jarion Henry plummeted to 119. Nobody in the national 150 from Texas is still on the market. -
Brutal Soccer Foul
TheTastyGreek replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think the only thing to do is to tell him he's not going to play for approximately another 4 games. Then, sometime in the 4th or 5th game, a referee can run out and start waving a flag at some random time and end his work stoppage period. Seems appropriate. -
Men's Golf - Tournament Thread
TheTastyGreek replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Athletics
How the hell does that work? It's just over, one day early, because the weather was bad? Isn't this like stopping a football game after 3 quarters because of lightning? I know the Sun Belt doesn't do that. -
Totally agree that he'll be in over his head at the Big 12 level, and that he's a reserve/role player at best for K-State. But I don't see him bailing out, not until after at least a year or two in Manhattan. I've read a lot of updates about and quotes coming from him, and he's still got stars in his eyes for K-State. Martin liked him enough to ink him early, and I don't think they'll push him out of this year's class. EDIT: Forgot to add that I don't think K-State is oversigning their class. They're using JUCOs to fill openings created by in-season departures, most notably by Freddy Asprilla and Wally Judge.

One and done, and not in the good way. Williams is transferring out from Ole Miss. Didn't get much playing time in an already full guard rotation.

I don't think "he's local" is the reason we didn't recruit a 6'3" post from the 3-A ranks.
