  1. Tony Mitchell Day: December 17th, 2011. Mark your calendars. Very glad he'll have a week under his belt before the LSU game. Should be fun.
  2. Does that sassy reporter have 4.4 speed? Does McNeese State's other QB?!?!? FOOLS, I say!
  3. They're making Riley Dodge compete for the starting job?? Don't the people at McNeese State realize how tall Drew Brees was/is? FOOLS!
  4. Nice catch. I wish he'd grown up in DFW... Still no news on Trevor Fuller from San Diego. I know Cooley doesn't see him as an impact guy, but at this point I'd definitely be happy to pick him up.
  5. Public Rivals article (July 9th): http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1238756 He settles the pronunciation debate; it's "RY-cook". He also says he's been contacted by at least 5 of the 10 remaining Big 12 schools.
  6. For the record, missing one detail doesn't necessarily invalidate the larger point. I thought about chalking it up to the Germans and Pearl Harbor... But figured it was better to point it out before someone else harped on it.
  7. Troy played football in the Southland Conference at the end of the 90s.
  8. I hope it went better than the conference they hosted about the Holocaust.
  9. This is why I voted for Mike Bacsik. He understands the situation.
  10. I didn't go to Lewisville, but I hear the Strutters put on quite a show. Also, you can't compare a Strutter to an NT Dancer. Sure, you can do a chest thrust/shake in either uniform... But let's see the Strutters do a hair flip while they're wearing those hats. Can't be done. Scoreboard! This is a dumb thing to argue about anyway. Whatever anyone here wants to say about Texas State, at least they never traded in a perfectly awesome mascot for this hideous abomination: Thank goodness we've got Scrappy back.
  11. Tony moved up to 3rd in Player Efficiency after today. Valanciunas is still 1st.
  12. Digging around some Euroleague websites, I found a group doing pace/time-adjusted Player Efficiency rankings for the U-19 championships. They've got Tony Mitchell as the most efficient guy on team USA, and 6th overall (lottery pick Jonas Valanciunas is tops). Also, for anyone interested... Former UNO superstar Bo McCalebb is doing VERY well for himself playing international ball. He's the 22nd highest paid player in Europe (making more than Allen Iverson), and he's got a 4 year deal that pays him a million and a half dollars per year.
  13. Money. This is a guarantee game, that's why they don't have to return the game. We, like all the other non-BCS Texas teams on that schedule, are getting a check for the game. Like Kansas last year, it allows us to buy our own guarantee games against SWAC and Southland opponents to build up a home slate.
  14. Also, non-conference vs. conference seasons. The only date Tony Mitchell could possibly play would be that Dec. 31st game they have against Rice.
  15. High School: North Crowley AAU: Texas Assault Rivals listing ESPN listing - 70 grade, 135th ranked PG (June 2011) Rivals lists interest in/from Cornell, Yale, Princeton, Missouri State, and San Francisco, with an offer from UTSA. (June 2011) - - - - - - - - I'm not Jeff Luster... But if basketball were putting an Ivy League education on the table for my child, I think I'd probably try to steer the kid that way.
  16. There could be some historically significant fun about to go down here.
  17. Don't blame me- I voted for Sitting Bull! The Great Spirit created Honovi Adahy and Keezheekoni, not Honovi Adahy and Segenam Kwatoko!! If you don't speak Kiowa, GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM. If you can read this, thank a Baoltai. If it's in Navajo, thank a Code Talker. My neighbor got a teepee and all I got was his mortgage. We need more bailouts for our canoes, and less bailouts for big buffalo! Why should I have to smoke signal "1" for Iroquois?? They're not illegal immigrants, they're just undocumented Pilgrims. This is my mesa, stay on your side of the arroyo!
  18. 'Murca. Love it, or git a tomahawk to your forehead.
  19. It's also the first organized game the USA team has played together... And Lithuania's national teams play in a lot more organized tournaments through FIBA and Eurobasket, to say nothing about how much easier it is to practice your all-star team together when the country is smaller than the states of Indiana or Maine. Lithuania U-19 is gonna get cracked, though. Tony Mitchell is going to destroy them like the Swedes did in the Northern Wars of the early 17th century. And once we've beaten the U-19 team in that exhibition, we'll all go in and revisionist our way into a victory against the U-20 team earlier today.
  20. One more exhibition on Tuesday, then the tournament starts on Thursday.
