  1. Merged. I love you, Vito... But there are rules here.
  2. Metroplex Hoops is reporting it: At least one member of the forum had it on very good authority that JJ and North Texas were in pursuit for at least a year. This is a player that we were in on early. Seems to have paid off. The word is that he's very solid academically. Good student, good kid, great athlete.
  3. As for why we did or didn't pursue... At least one member of the forum has heard that Smart's mother's kidney problems (she requires dialysis) might keep Smart in the area. I can't imagine we didn't at least try to discuss a spot here with him. I doubt we noticed Phil Forte but somehow overlooked Smart. But if Smart isn't mentioning us as one of the dozens of teams that offered, then nobody is going to list us as being on his radar.
  4. Topic moved to the Basketball forum. From the Recruiting Forum Manifesto:
  5. I was a little annoyed when I hadn't gotten mine yet... But the first ones that went our were holdovers from past events. People here and in other fan bases got leftovers from track and field events and other championships. But the one that came last week is a new shirt, small conference logo only. Nice fabric, nice color... It was worth waiting for compared to a white swimming and diving championships shirt. Hang in there. Just when I'd given up and forgotten the thing was coming, it arrived.
  6. I'd agree for 95% of his career... But the last few games before and including his injury, he looked like a completely different guy. Passing up 3 pointers, driving, defending well in the lane, moving around within his assignments instead of wandering around lost... If he comes back the way he went out, we're finally going to get the Holmen we expected when he signed with us.
  7. We need something that appeals to the next generation of Mean Green alums AND (for TFLF) targets the Metroplex Hispanic community.
  8. Welcome, welcome. This may be a strange and confusing environment for you. Here, you'll be surrounded by North Texas graduates. Unusual as this situation may feel, you need not be afraid. Everyone here (like every North Texas alum) is magnanimous, gracious, contemplative, genial, and kind in both word and spirit. Enjoy the wit and wisdom, the brilliant tactical analysis, the informed and intelligent analysis of our modern political arena. Just make sure you iron those $100 bills, and don't you dare wear a black shirt.
  9. Rivals listing: not yet evaluated Spring 2011 AAU highlight reel:
  10. My brother and I are also planning on going to Lafayette... Let me know if you want to tag along for the ride.
  11. No pain, no gain, my friend. It'll make her a better husband and father someday.
  12. Now is a good time for everyone to refresh themselves on the rules for both GMG as a whole, and this forum in particular. Also, please be aware that there is a "Report" button on each post. If someone flagrantly crosses a line, please flag the post.
  13. William Brasky just got his on Friday, delivered to my house. I'm interested to see whether Mr. Brasky winds up on any junk mail lists because of the shirt giveaway.
  14. If we do, it will probably happen in the next week. At this point, I don't think we will. The last time for high school recruits to take the ACT/SAT was in June (25th?). That was the last shot for some of the talented kids out there to get their qualifying score. Anyone who didn't get their score is finding out and won't have another chance. And anyone who was finishing up hours during the summer semesters to graduate in and be eligible immediately (like Dez Willingham or Mangrum)... Well, the clock is running out there, too. As far as D1 to D1 transfers, the ones that wouldn't be able to play this year anyway, there are still guys out there. But I don't know that there's anyone left who fits what we need, wants to come play here, and wouldn't be a personality/academic risk. The guys showed last year that they aren't willing to use a scholarship just to fill it. Anyone they bring in has to be a player who is worthy of a 4 year commitment from our end. When there's someone like that they can snap up during the summer (like Alzee), they do it. When we're stuck shopping late but there isn't anyone valuable enough to bring in, they won't do it. It doesn't help that the ship we have open (Knox) came open a week after spring signing period ended. We did still had one open ship besides Knox available at the time, the one that wound up going to Niko Stojiljkovic a week later. It's frustrating as it is to go into a 2nd straight season with an open seat on the bench, but it's not unheard of. Arkansas is starting the year with 10 scholarship players, and half of those are incoming freshmen. We'll have 11 available at the start of the season (if Franklin gets his waiver) and 12 on Tony Mitchell Day. If we don't get roster news in the next week, then we're probably not looking at filling this scholarship until early signing period in November.
  15. And, in other FML news: Trevor Fuller has decided to go JUCO. He's transferred to Angelina College in Lufkin.
  16. I'm also told that a back-of-the-palm slap with your ring hand can produce effective results. Trying to test these techniques without children of my own... Well, let's just say that our modern society is very intolerant of scientific inquiry. Even when everyone else in the restaurant was annoyed, too.
  17. There's your problem. Not colorblindness... Disobedience and back sass. If you said they were black, then they were black. Any kid that contradicts you gets whupped with a switch. Period, end of story.
  18. They've got their own problems. Makes our housing bubble look like nothing. If we needed economic counsel on playing ping pong, building railroads, exterminating female children, or playing cruel soda-related pranks... Then I'd care what China had to say. We could take 'em in an arm rasslin' match.
  19. I like it. Worked for TCU... WHY NOT NORTH TEXAS??
  20. That downgrade DESTROYED the Tamagochi industry. Destroyed it. Also, where is Japan now? Hmmm??? NUCLEAR WASTELAND. Rhetorical scoreboard, Courtland.
  21. Somewhere, right now, on a messageboard for Atromitos F.C.- A guy who goes by EleusinaEagle is scolding us for being wasteful, stupid, decadent, and overly entitled.
  22. My favorite part of the Bush administration was when he traveled back in time to the colonial era and convinced Alexander Hamilton that deficit spending was the key to getting outside countries financially invested in the sustained health and growth of the US economy. My favorite part of the Obama administration was when he used his magical Demmycrat powers to borrow money in the 1920s and 40s. That was awesome. I think it's foolish, reductive, and intellectually dishonest to blame this on Bush OR Obama. Obviously, it's the fault of illegal immigrants.
  23. I hope it's a puppy... But it's probably a trip to the dentist.
  24. Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it's time for our viewers to crack each others' heads open and feast on the goo inside? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UuUkI1GW3Q&feature=related
