WKU down 2 at the half, 40-38. For anyone who can listen but not watch at work... WKU's radio broadcast streams live here: http://www.iheart.com/#/live/4908/?autoplay=true

ULL damn sure better win. If that's a loss at home, they ought to be ashamed. UALR has a better than even shot at a win, even on the road. Eastern Michigan lost by 17 to Texas Southern, and they don't have many new faces on a roster that went 9-22 last year. A good UALR should have a relatively easy time with this game. A decent team should still win without too much trouble. Hell... Even if they outright suck, it ought to be a tossup. LSU and Western... This could be a good opportunity for WKU to turn their rough start around and build some confidence for a young team that's struggling terribly. They've still got some critical bigs on suspension for another few games... But LSU is very beatable if WKU's available talent finally wakes up. This could (COULD!) be a surprising 3-0 day. More likely, we're going 2-1. If we end up 1-2, then one of those two losing teams owes the rest of the league an apology. EDIT to add, so I don't lose track... 13-17 against D-1 OOC opponents going into these games.

Nice. Up to 13-17 in OOC play. Not great, but well ahead of last year's final win %, and it should continue to get easier (generally speaking) for the league.

UT - Arlington (11/22/11)
TheTastyGreek replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
And, as promised, from the 2012 update to the Men's and Women's Basketball rulebook (either page 98 or 102, bold emphasis added by me): So, what counts as a "follower" per rule 4-27? Basically... During timeouts, you can go as wild as you want (as long as you don't curse) with any artificial noisemakers that the good folks who run the Super Pit will allow you to bring in. -

FUN FACT about artificial noisemakers!! They are apparently no longer a rule violation, so long as they aren't used during play. You can use them during everything but live game action (including free throws, so no air horns during attempts). Noticed the rule seems to have changed when I looked up exhibition rules for D-1, D-2, and NAIA schools. If the Pit Crew wants "more cowbell" during any and all timeouts, that seems to be legal now. I'll look it up again and post the specific rule later tonight. -
If you don't at least stop by and say hello, you're dead to me, sir. Look for the flag in Blue/Red.

Sucks to your stats and observations. I'll start believing this team can play defense when they finally manage a shutout. Serious face: There's a lot about last night that frustrated me, but defense wasn't anywhere close to the top of that list. Loved how we performed in the press, love how aggressive we've been this year in forcing turnovers and disrupting passing. Loved seeing us clamp down and battle back against Tech runs in the first half, and especially the 11-0 run in the second half.

I regret that I have but one +1 to give. We've come a long way from arguing about Gonzaga and at-large bids. Group hug?

He's the white guy. The tall one. I'll point him out the next time I see you at a game.

Coming in to these games, the Sun Belt is 11-16 against D1 opponents. WKU and Denver have it tough against quality CUSA teams. Denver has their enormous home court advantage going for them, too. Both are conceivably winnable games, but I don't think the Belt team is going to be favored in either. Hopefully, we split the CUSA games. ASU should be able to handle Tennessee-Martin, but then again ASU has looked like complete crap this year. C'mon, 2-1 night...

Patton has one, too. Don't know what his is off the top of my head...

Tech Coach Billy Gillispie on North Texas
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Apparently, the kid REALLY knows how to run a team. Maybe the purest "1" we've ever had? Also: Texas Tech student journalism, ladies and gentlemen! Good hustle, champ. Don't forget to pop outside and slop your 4-H pig, lil' Raider writer! -
Henry verballed to Oklahoma since that article, some reports say he signed an LOI, and other say he's petitioning to enroll at semester break from his prep school and play for Oklahoma during conference season. Point of clarification... Henry and Williams were teammates. Further point of clarification... Even if Henry were available- I'd rather see us sign the illegitimate love child of Rod Flemings and Hitler before putting Jarion Henry on our roster.

BAC =.123 You aren't even good at blowing. -
Given the restrictions they have on official visits and scholarship reductions... I think we're a lot likelier to win a fight for someone like Foster or Hammonds next year, if Oklahoma is their best BCS offer.

SoHo and I bring our lunchpails every damn game. They may be filled with falafel and baklava, but the metaphor still applies.

Lady Mean Green vs New Mexico

If you've never seen a game on the stage before, you should definitely seize the opportunity while you still can. -
Spent all weekend rehearsing your double-barrel indignation question about Brooks and McNulty, did you?
-
You MUST be confused. Tyler Hall is the most fundamentally sound, meat and potatoes-type player on our roster. The only guy who even comes close is Niko. I saw the two of them warming up... A glorious display of chest passes, set shots, and underhanded free throws. Basketball the way it ought to be played, people. I just wish Tyler Hall hadn't been outvoted on the team wearing John Stockton shorts.
