  1. Oh, it wasn't an accusation that you had... Just saw your post and used it as a jumping off point for what happened next. Please love me. Between my rap music affiliation and ability to read newspapers and watch TV for content... I'm losing internet friends left and right lately.
  2. Back in my day, they played in the Big East. Before Luther Campbell ruined college football with his musical influence. But techincally, yes... I should have said ACC. Damnit.
  3. With that coach: 20-8, #2 ranking, 2 Big East championship appearances in 2 years. Since firing him: 19-19 overall, 3 seasons without going over 8 wins. Fresh off a 4-8 season. I hope Boston College's face feels really, really spited.

  5. I'm less than thrilled to be defending(?) OWS protesters. Hooray for mutual self-loathing? To ease my sickness- That Rick Perry sure was wearing a snazzy jacket in his campaign video. Rugged and masculine... But oddly sensitive at the same time. Back on topic: Amiable disengagement, or should we keep arguing? We still have a lot of potential here if you're interested and willing to delve into some namecalling, or maybe shameful misrepresentation of each others' viewpoints. I've got some pretty awesome flawed analogies centered on the Queen of England and tear gas, if you're up for it.
  6. By sitting? Also, wasn't there a fire hose or something else they could have used instead of pepper spray? Maybe some dogs or nightclubs or something?
  7. Fixed? I'm not an Occupy Wall Street guy, by any stretch... But I think the first amendment works a lot better without the modification.
  8. I know that at least 3 of the local TV stations in DFW had the story in the first block of their newscasts. Haven't heard from Skipper lately, but I have a hunch that in a day or two, we'll see there was even a story in the NT Daily. I wish I felt as good looking in the mirror as Quoner does, though. GOOD THINGS ARE NOT HAPPENING to my physique the further I get past 30.
  9. Preemptive cutoff- My grandfather served in the Pacific during WWII, so don't bother accusing me of not understanding or recognizing the significance of Pearl Harbor Day. I think some of us might take your indignation a little more seriously if: 1. It wasn't delivered in the same tone as your frustration/disapproval/outrage/fake voice of wisdom and reason over recruiting, helmet stickers, attendance, and the cruel, cruel injustice perpetrated against Oklahoma State's football team. 2. You'd legitimately engage and respond to (my perception, at least) the sequence of events. -KRAM complains that the media isn't recognizing Pearl Harbor Day -Quoner posts a link indicating more than 33 pages of results on news stories about Pearl Harbor Day. -KRAM jumps to the conclusion that Quoner is mocking the day (when, if anything, he's mocking KRAM) and refuses to discuss the complaint that he first brought up. From "You won't see much about it on the news or in the papers" to "Here's a link to 33 pages and counting of stories about it on the news and in the papers". To "THE USUAL SUSPECTS ARE AT IT AGAIN!!" Explain the disconnect.
  10. Somehow, Arizona State got hard for a guy who was sub-.500 and never managed to get more than 8 wins at his previous job.
  11. Courtland and I have throwback jerseys now. Thanks, Centennial Classic giveaway promotion!
  12. Very similar story for me. I used to think college sports was the stupidest thing in the universe. If you'd told college me how much of my post-college life would involve or revolve around North Texas athletics, I'd probably have laughed in your face and called you an idiot. More than 10% of the days on the calendar, I'm attending some event related to North Texas sports. From November through March, I (effectively) schedule work and family around basketball. Never expected that to happen.
  13. We toil not on the Sabbath, heathen! Also... Cold. And if there's any sort of delay on paperwork and he isn't cleared until the 20th... It'll be a shivering, angry, bitter bunch of people hanging around that parking lot.
  14. Don't worry, slugger. I'll always have a feeling you can borrow.
  15. You show up early, you sit in the parking lot, you cook/eat, and most people drink. It's like football tailgating, but colder and lonelier.
  16. Trice = DB Recruiting class = relatively OL heavy
  17. Important notes to keep in mind: Individual schools (at least, they have in the past) are issued an allotment of ticket packs to sell. Prices on these vary wildly... One year, UNO was selling books at $50 while some schools were charging more than double that. Anyone planning on attending and purchasing a ticket book should wait for our athletics department to announce their offering. Why buy from the conference instead of through North Texas, especially if the conference books wind up costing more money? Valid student IDs grant free admission (or at least, they have for the past 2 years). If you have a current student ID... You don't need to buy tickets for SBC tournament games. Your tuition at a Sun Belt school is your ticket. This year, even if you DO plan on attending every single session (8 total- 4 each for the men and women), the full books are not a good deal. Individual session tickets are $15... Meaning that if you just bought 8 session tickets at individual face value, you'd be paying $120. Meanwhile, the SBC is charging $128. If you just want to see men's games, or you just want to buy tickets when North Texas has a team playing... The books are an even worse deal. - - - - - - - - - - And, with personal finance power hour sermon completed- I'm glad to see they reworked the Men's bracket so that the top 5 seeds (regardless of division) earn byes. Seems like the fairest way to seed the field given that ULM can't participate.
  18. In the Olympics for out-of-context quotes screaming for inclusion in a signature... This is the gold medal winner.
  19. Darn you young gun fans with your rap music! In my generation, we know how to use the ninjaface!!! I blame the fluoride in the water.
  20. Insulin's a hell of a drug.
  21. One in particular was terrible. 3 things killed us in this game: 1. Columbia was nailing 3's from everywhere, even with guys draped all over them and hands in their faces. 2. Struggled on putbacks and especially on 3 point shots. We failed to capitalize on a lot of opportunities, especially on second chance opportunities under the basket. 3. One ref in particular called a terrible game (from our perspective). The Chris Jones phantom charge was a 3 point swing, and there were more than a handful of other terrible calls and no-calls. JJ actually shouted in to Roger Franklin "Roger, don't count on the whistles, because they aren't gonna give you any". And Roger said something to the effect of "Yes sir, I know". The killer is that we had great refs yesterday. Unfortunately, it looks like the WCC (much like the Sun Belt) doesn't deliver decent officiating on Saturdays. We looked good pressing and trapping, we fought back well, but we just couldn't capitalize when we created opportunities and we couldn't get it down past a 2 possession game. It's concerning that we're still struggling. I thought we'd be further along by game 7... Hopefully we'll get our feet back under us once we're finally playing at home.
  22. I've missed 3 or 4 football games for basketball road trips. This is the only time I've ever had cause to regret it. Sounds like I missed quite a football game.
  23. Doesn't start for over an hour. 5:00 pacific, 7:00 central.
