For anyone wondering what wound up happening with Miller... He's played exactly 1 minute in the month of January. Four DNP's, one game with one minute of action. He got heavier minutes early in the year. One 13 points/7 rebounds game, one 8/4 game, one 7/6 game... But their beatwriter says he's out of the rotation completely now. If he's the sort of basketball player who actually enjoys playing basketball, choosing Tennessee over North Texas may not have been the wisest decision. A cautionary tale our coaches will hopefully present to any future JUCO prospects.

I'm going to wait until the holiday weekend is over before making any assumptions/predictions about who we can or can't beat, or how the rest of the season might shake out. Louisiana sucks. Monroe is particularly terrible. Fun trip, though. Almost entirely because of the company.

Link to the Twitter message. Maybe the most exciting thing about this isn't the news that we have Pye coming on despite no scholarship, or some mystery recruit... But that Tony is talking about looking forward to playing with incoming recruits. Can't do that unless you expect to stick around for next season.

Saw that too. Could be interesting... Rumor has been around since early signing period came and went that Brandon Pye might come to North Texas on an academic scholarship, redshirt a year, then come on athletic scholarship in the class of 2013. The circumstances of his offer and commitment are a little peculiar, but we did offer him a scholarship at one point and he did decide he wanted to play for us. And he could definitely fill a role for us somewhere down the line. But... Pye has (had? He's started and shut down at least one other one I'm aware of) a Twitter account. I'm pretty sure he's referring to Pye, but not sure why he didn't link to Pye's Twitter account like he did with Overlander. If it is Pye, then I'm very glad he may end up with us without having to tie up one of our few available class of 2012 ships. If Tony's talking about him like he's coming on board, that's good to see.

2 losses in conference. Both of them came with us shooting the ball with less than 5 seconds left. Once to tie, once to win in a tied game. Neither drops, and one of those had a miracle shot bank in on the other end after a freakish carom off the basket and a quick reflexes pass. I'm still bummed about our record and inconsistency... But hopefully we can keep up our SBC play and keep building on what's going well.

4 years of constant complaining coupled with people mis-using or killing the bit to the point where nobody knows whether someone is being sarcastic, serious, or making a callback joke anymore. The precedent has been established. I'm nothing if not consistent.

Also, he came on board RIGHT before school started. If he hadn't taken that scholarship, it would have been empty. Could have been a huge piece of the puzzle this season. Even though he wasn't, he could play next year, and we've had him in practice this season. We didn't lose anything. We didn't get everything we were hoping for, but practice Patton is better than nothing. Which is what we'd have gotten out of that scholarship if it were left empty.
