Done. Easiest way to get that cleared up in the future is to flag the thread with the "Report" option.

SMU Board focusing attention on UNT recruits
TheTastyGreek replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
You're living in the past, my friend. -
Not complaining about the cosmic injustice of it all. We're just as close to 3-5 as we are to 8-0. Just a tough way to lose conference games. Given the situation... If we can at least go 5-3 on the back half without anyone else getting hurt... That'll get us a bye in Hot Springs. Considering how this year has gone so far... I'd take that and see what we can do with it.
-
A fair question. Because one of them is shooting 3-pointers at just under 60% on the year, and the other didn't have any time to pass off or drive before the buzzer went off.
-
We have 3 conference losses. In all 3, we were shooting to win or tie with less than 5 seconds on the clock. UALR, Jordan rimmed out a 3 from the corner as time expired, we lost by 3. ASU, Chris drove the lane, missed a shot with less than 5 seconds on the clock. The ASU rebounder fed a running Hooten who drained a 3 from just past half court as time expired. We lost by 3. This game, we get Tony shooting the ball and Roger on a 2nd chance shot, both miss, we lose by 2. 3 conference losses, all lost on an inability for one reason or another to hit critical shots at the end of the game. Brutal.

Spoiler alert: Odoh is not a pure "1".

SMU Board focusing attention on UNT recruits

I don't know... 4+ years of constant complaining about the use of That Word. After just a few weeks, we're going to tear down the new utopia of language? Trusting a group of grown men and women to use and read language peacefully and responsibly is a bold step. Something to keep in mind: The only thing worse than a Transfer (who I'm sure has a very valid reason for leaving) is someone who transfers at transferting. What does it say about us as a group if we Transfer stopping people from saying "Transfer"? Have we Transfer our responsibility as a society? And will people Transfer complaining about other people saying the word Transfer in a manner that they may not personally approve? Only one way to find out for sure, I guess. -
If you want a platform for announcements, start a blog or a Facebook group. If you want to start a thread for discussion in an open community, especially one where a not-insignificantly sized group of people are annoyed that this event you're announcing conflicts with an NT athletic event... You have to accept that the conversation might not go exactly as you'd wish. This is GoMeanGreen. It is not KRAMda. It is not KRAMnma.

2013 HS - Kendal Harris - 6'3" PG
TheTastyGreek replied to TheTastyGreek's topic in UNT Basketball Recruiting
Once we hit signing period, possibly the end of Spring semester, I'll make another pinned thread with the 2013 scholarship situation. Obviously, there are still some things up in the air with roster configuration for next season. -
Suck on that, Lombardi, Halas, Walsh, Rockne, Hayes... And anyone who ever managed to coach above the high school level WITHOUT losing 10+ games every single year. Hell, anyone who ever managed to decide, with the benefit of 2 timeouts to think it over, on whether to kick a ball or not.

Tony Mitchell POY honors for the belt?
TheTastyGreek replied to FloMoGrad's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Not 100%, but I think POY and all-conference get announced pre-tournament. I seem to recall already knowing Bozeman was the POY last year even as we were playing games in Hot Springs. -
Tend to agree with glick. I don't think they're overrated, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how their fans are handling this run. Very humble, very happy, not obnoxious (so far). If we want to get respect when we accomplish things (starting a turnaround under McCarney, the 13-2 start last year), we have to give it when our conference mates do, too (hiring Malzahn, Middle's run this year).

And it's a hell of a race for that title, too.

2013 HS - Keith Frazier - 6'5" SG
TheTastyGreek replied to TheTastyGreek's topic in UNT Basketball Recruiting
Frankly... I was caught off guard when I saw we were in pursuit. Got so eager to research the rest of the post, I erred in describing his other offers. You are correct, sir. I skimmed past Memphis when I said all the other offers were from BCS schools. You are free to shame and scold me at the next game. Amended: Frazier has offers from North Texas, a gaggle of BCS schools, and Memphis. -
High School: Kimball (Dallas) AAU: DJH5 Rivals listing: 4 star prospect, 4th ranked SG and 13th overall nationally in the class of 2013. ESPN listing: 5 star prospect, 97 grade. 18th ranked prospect overall nationally, 6th at his position nationally, 5th overall in the region and 4th overall in the state of Texas. Rivals lists offers from 15 programs. One is North Texas. The others are all BCS schools (or, in the case of TCU, will be BCS schools by 2013). EDIT: Except for Memphis, which I overlooked in my enthusiastic skimming of his offer list. Among them are traditional powers like Kansas, UCLA, and Texas. Every Texas school in the future Big 12 has already offered, as has Texas A&M. Before transferring to Kimball HS (Jordan Williams' old school) this year, Frazier played at Irving HS. In his sophomore year, he averaged 21 points per game while playing against 5A competition. Even as a freshman, Frazier was frequently scoring 20 and 30+ points against varsity 5A competition. Many, many exciting highlight reels are available online. For anyone who might wish to follow his ruminations on life, school, recruitment, and so forth... Young Mr. Frazier is active on Twitter. Remember- DO NOT CONTACT RECRUITS. ESPN analysts named Frazier one of the 3 top shooters at an elite camp during the summer of 2011. The other two listed were both 2012 recruits: Ricardo Ledo (8th ranked national prospect per Rivals) and Kaitin Reinhardt (45th nationally per Rivals). Frazier, quoted during the summer of 2011, says he plans on waiting until "the last minute" before choosing his college destination. That would mean April signing period in 2013.

2013 HS - Kendal Harris - 6'3" PG
TheTastyGreek replied to TheTastyGreek's topic in UNT Basketball Recruiting
DMN capsule lists his current averages (Junior year, current through 1/18/2012) as 12.7 ppg, 5 assists, 4.1 rebounds. Eric Bossi article on Rivals (Nov. 2011) also identifies him as a PG with size enough to play at SG. Despite him missing last summer's AAU circuit, Metroplex Hoops ranks Harris as the #4 area prospect in the class of 2013, behind only Julius Randle (4th nationally per Rivals, 3rd per ESPN), Keith Frazier (13th nationally per Rivals, 18th per ESPN), and Jordan Mickey (75th nationally per Rivals, 4-star/92 grade per ESPN). -
Our RPI jumped 30-35 spots after that win. We're finally up under 200 (188). If we don't drop any bad games, I doubt we fall back down that far again. And if we can go 6-3 or 7-2... We'll be comfortably above the 150 rule barrier. Denver only fell about 15 spots to 70.

High School: Berkner (Richardson) AAU: Dallas Mustangs Harris is the younger brother of former Oklahoma State and current Miami Heat player Terrel Harris. Rivals listing: 3 star prospect, currently (January 2012) ranked 123rd nationally in the Rivals 150. ESPN listing (not yet fully evaluated) ESPN lists offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Marquette, Creighton, and Houston Rivals lists additional offers from Missouri and Washington State. Lists interest in/from 19 other programs, including 15 BCS schools. Other Texas schools besides North Texas listed as interested or having offered: Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, UTEP, and UTA. Harris has taken unofficial visits to Marquette and Oklahoma, among others. Harris was in attendance on an unofficial visit to North Texas on 1/21/2012 for the overtime victory vs. Denver.

Breaking news -- Chris Jones, Jordan Williams ineligible
TheTastyGreek replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Aaaaaand after 13 pages, I think we're about done here. Actions have consequences. Hopefully everyone learns from them and we're a complete team again going forward next season. Thanks to everyone for keeping the frustration and criticism (for the most part) civil and above board. Academic bomb May it never drop again This thread can die now. -
Back-to-Back SBC Honors For Tony Mitchell
TheTastyGreek replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Tony - 30 points, 17 rebounds in one game. Here's the list of everyone else to get 30+ points this week. They all played 2 games. ULL: JJ Thomas - 32 points, 13 rebounds Denver: Royce O'Neal - 31 points, 16 rebounds Troy: Emil Jones - 36 points, 16 rebounds FAU: Greg Gantt - 44 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals FIU: Phil Taylor - 35 points FIU: DeJuan Wright - 32 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists Even with just one game this week... I think it comes down to Tony or Greg Gantt. -
Lifer, so help me... If you don't sustain this bit through the rest of the season, I'm moving to have your fan card revoked. I don't know who threw down the minuses, but I did my part to make things right. AMAZING GAME.

This is the start of a CRITICAL 10 game stretch. And this one sets the tone for the rest of the year. Can we go out and take down the top RPI/OOC team in the conference? Or are we going to come up short against the 2 or 3 strongest teams in the league from here on out? Not to overstate the importance of this game... But if we can take this one, there's no need to write off the season yet. If we get beaten at home, there may not be much to look forward to other than freshman development.
