QB's have stolen the show this week on the board, but a I want to say something now so that I can claim it befoer it happens. Be ready to see a Mean Green defense that is going to be quite salty this evening. This defense is going to imprees tonight. The offense is going to have to give them some rest time thiugh, they can't play 2/3's of the game and be effective in the 4th. This is no deifferent than any other defense in the land. We WILL play well vs. the pass, and I have a feeling that we will be able to shut down the run. Be ready I am calling it. I know some of you are laughing because of what you saw at UT, but just be ready. By the way I will be out there at about 12:30, I would like to meet as many board members as I can this year...I am will be tailgaiting in a black truck with a green canopy put up. Come by if you have a chance and see the set up. GO MEAN GREEN

2pm you could find a spot. By 4pm it is slim pickins.

Bad decision! Phillips should not see the field in a game of this magnitude. "If you have two QB's, you don't have one!" -Yoda So what doe sit mean if you have 3? I will tell you what it means...54-2 SMU wins Saturday!

That is the type of info that people, escpecially many on this board, need to hear. The podcasts just better every week it seems.

DMN DD looking for consistency from QB's
BIG DAWG replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
One fear is put to bed now. I am so glad we are not rotating 3 QB's. I can stomach a two man rotation even though I am against it, but a 3 man QB rotation would have destroyed me. If Meager is healthy, Phillips has go to be the odd man out. His lack of mobility, and always holding the ball too long is just such a hinderance(sp?) to our offense. A complete drive killer. I know not many like Meager on this board, but atleast the guy can move. I wish Meager or Woody would just pull away from the pack -
Patrick Cobbs, #40, makes Steelers final roster
BIG DAWG replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe we see Cobbs as a third down back??? Cowher goes on to say that all 4 backs will see time throughout the season -
Thanks for the info - will be looking forward to watching Wednesday

BIG DAWG replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
I had to pee in a trough at DKR in Austin this weekend. Doesn't a national championship sfford you urinals? -
Well, couldn't find a number to contact KNTU so we will just have to wait for someone else to provide us the info
-
Great question, I would think that there would be a coaches show tonight...I will call KNTU
-
all except Graves I am thinking
-
I know, that surprised me that many players were cramping like that. I wonder how much Guy Morris is going to take for that. If that happened to Dickey in a close game v. TCU he would be hung at dawn
-
Well, I do not know what to think about that. I am going to lean towards a little excessive. That would amount to us tearing them down against SMU. Which I hope no one would do.
-
I fear we will not truly appreciate RV like we should until the day he is gone, and I FEAR that day is not far off in the future, This program needs to find a way to make RV stay for a VERY long time.
-
Rest assured, and this goes for all, if we have a repeat performance of last season, there will be a coaching change. As much as DD has done, and as much as I wouldn't agree with it, DD will be fired if he has another season like last year. That being said if he wins conference, and splits the remainder of our OOC, or even wins one and keeps the others close, he doesn't have to beat SMU. DO NOT get me wrong, I want to beat the piss out if SMU, but I do not simply think that losing will be the last straw for the DD regime.

I am right there with you Emmitt. Couldn't have said ity better myself

Back from the game in Austin.......
BIG DAWG replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah, that is it, it is the green firefighter hat. Make your statements, but don't discount one of the most supportive fans we have. In a program where support is well below expectation, you should not be calling out fans that have stood along the side of the Mean Green like Rick and several others on this board have. Lets all go BEAT THE HELL OUT OF SMU! -
Who will be the starting QB against SMU?
BIG DAWG replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Woody you would think has got to be the man. Whoever it is, it can't be Phillips. He has ZERO mobility, and ALWAYS holds on to the ball WAY to long. If he isn't throwing the deep ball, he is ineffective. Be ready to see Meager when he gets healthy, but Wilson is not going away Wilson will be taking every snap come conference time, and maybe earlier. I will be the first to say I am Meager guy, but Woody Wilson is winning me over, and with a solid performance against SMU will have me in his corner completely. Woody is what this team needs. Also...did anyone see him try to protact himself a little more against Texas, or was it just me? It seemed that when he could protect himself he did. He did take some hellacious hits, but it seemed as though he was better about not taking them every time he ran with the ball. -
I would like to second everything Emmit had to say. For those who know anything about college football, and watched the game today, not just looked at the box score, Dickey and the team played well against a superior team. I thought this could have been the best game plan we have ever had in the Dickey era against a big team. We threw 2 of the forst three plays, and the game was called aggressively the whole way. I did come out of this game feeling a whole lot better about a couple things... Mid way through the 3rd quarter we are down 28-7, after an 80 yd scoring drive, and had Texas lined up to pnt but they faked it and got a first down. I was thinking right there if we were to somehow score and make it 28-14 that would be huge. Next, Woody Wilson is our starter, rotation should be gone Next, defensively, even though we gave up 56 pts to a superior team, we have improved GREATLY. The secondary played well knocking down several passes, and only giving up 1 big play. The one to Sweed 2nd play of the game. The rest of the day we kept the ball in front of us for the most part. Next, we played the run fairly well considering we went up against the best OL in the nation. Guys the NT football team has nothing to be ashamed of, and I think we have BIG things to look forward to this season. This is not GREEN GLASSES talk, we might have something here.

Those were the years of all the disappointing Holiday Bowl berths too. Texas wasn't supposed to be playing in the Holiday Bowl every year. You could say not having a #1 QB was a contributor to.
