Practice Notes, Riley Won't Be Backup Qb
BIG DAWG replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The two, as has already been stated, have nothing to do with each other...Riley WILL redshirt...barring a slew of injuries This has got to be one of the more negative posts I have read in quite a long time...there is nothing but doom & gloom in this one, and the greatest thing about it is that not only have we not even played a game, but we haven't even really practiced for our first game...we just got out of fall camp -
Who Would Be On Your North Texas Mt. Rushmore?

How in the world did I leave my all-time favorite player off the list??? I have to add Scott Hall...that requires I sadly remove JQ My four are the following... Hall Booger Greene Fry -
This is the first time I have openly admitted it, but the SKY IS DEFINITELY FALLING! This is not good. I do have to hold to the belief that both JUCO o-linemen will be in the starting lineup when conference games start to roll in. As musch as I hate the theory, we are in a stage where our season doesn't really begin until conference games roll around...maybe someday soon we can put something into who is playing during the non-conference part of our schedule, but that time is not now I am sad to say.

Not just K-State, but pretty much every team we are going to go against! This is very concerning...I am all about rewarding hard work and dilligence, but 250 at tackle is tough to swallow

People probably aren't going to like this post, but it is ridiculous to ask people to not talk about scrimmage notes on this board. K-State, or any other team in college football doesn't use message boards for their scouting info. If they want information, then they know how to get it. Nothing said, and I stress NOTHING, will be used to defeat the Mean Green in any contest from a damn message board! It is ridiculous to think any other way. It is far more valuable to this program to discuss practice notes for others to get excited about...ESPECIALLY those new to following the program. Many people on this board are very good at talking about what goes on in practice in a way that gets people excited about Mean Green football. If people forbid others to discuss positive info from practice, all people have to listen to is a TON of NEGATIVE bs about what horrible shape our program is in due to any range of things from some girl named Mandy (who god forbid we let that one die), to the obvious need for a new stadium, all the way to any other negative thing we can talk about. BUT...God forbid we discuss practice notes, because too many coaches have internet scouts waiting to learn something about our gameplans or personnel. Granted this would be something that they wouldn't learn from game film. Sorry for the rant, but I have heard this for years on this board, and it seems to grate on my skull a little more every time I hear it...TEAMS GET NOTHING FROM MESSAGE BOARDS TO USE AGAINST US IN GAMES!!!

Does anyone know if Awasom was picked up by anyone? If not...that one mistake sure did prove costly. You hate to see when one mistake can really change your plans so drastically

Smu Practices Are Open To The Public!

Win games, and I won't care if they practice underground! Are we talking about practice? Practice? Really...practice? -
What?

The 8 key is over the 5 key...hopefully a typo

Surely not! I was following the MeanGreenSports.com practice blog, and they mentioned that the height/weight listing were the most accurate they have ever used because they were all weighed and measured by training staff and those were the measurements that went on the roster. That would be scary becasue I was really counting on Edwards being a stud...he is not going to do so at 152

I want to see pictures...I want to put a name with a face

If they do not add a track to that thing I am going to be PISSED!!!

Evan Walker is back with the team??? Last I heard he was gone...was removed when Korey Washington was...hopefully he will take what seems to be a second chance and run with it...quickly...down the sideline...into the endzone...several times...for many years...4 to be exact!

In the provided MSN link, the story talks about three teams that could go winless, the Dolphins being one of those teams, BUT they have a picture of a player from each of those teams and the picture they have for the Dolphins is Patrick Cobbs. No mention of him in the story, but it is still cool to see him around. MSN Link: Cobbs Appearance

As a sophomore Kassell led the Big West Conference in tackles for a loss with 17 and was a second team All-Big West Conference pick. Since leaving North Texas in 2001 Kassell has gone onto enjoy a widely successful career in the NFL. Ken Kelley (Track and Field) -- Kelley was a four-year letterwinner from 1952-55. In 1954 & 1955 he was the high-point meet performer at the Border Olympics, West Texas Relays, ACC Meet, TCU Meet, South Western Relays and the AAU Meet. At the 1955 West Texas Relays he tied the meet record in the high hurdles and set a new meet record in the broad jump. He was nationally recognized by the NAIA as a leader in several categories, including the high hurdles with a time of 14.3 seconds, the high jump with a height of 6’6" and in the broad jump at 23’8". He graduated in 1955 and followed his collegiate career by competing in track & field for the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Kelley taught at Thomas Jefferson high school in San Antonio before later becoming the track coach at Texas City High School. As a track coach at both schools, Kelley developed several district regional and state qualifiers. He was nominated by the U.S. Olympic committee as one of the coaches for the 1972 Olympic Teams. Marilyn Marin (Women’s Soccer) -- Marin ended her fabulous career with every offensive record in school history while leaving her mark on the NCAA. She was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 along with being named the Freshman of the Year in 2000. Marin was a four-time first-team all-conference selection and a four-time all-central region selection. Marin is the first player in league history to be named to the first-team all-conference four straight years and capture back-to-back Player of the Year honors. In 2000 she was named to the Freshman All-America first-team after pouring in 24 goals, six assists, and 54 points on the season. Td Gets "dawged" By A Poster At The D-rc Blog
BIG DAWG replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
I would like to state that I am not Green Dawg...just in case anyone was thinking it was me -
That is the purpose of message boards... If you start censoring that kind of info, that is just going to be that take off point...you have to take the good with the bad. Trying to censor a message board is like Papelbon crying about Yankee fans in the Bronx boo-ing him...that goes with being a Red Sock

You are a better man than I... I am still going to back this team just like i did on that freezing...rainy day against Western Ky, but I am finding less to fire me up and more to cringe about than I have in a lot of years
