DT - ??? LB - Phillips MLB - Orr LB - Prior (he started as a LBer then moved out of necessity CB - Hill CB -Ford S - Cook S - Grahm We don,t have anything at DT...DE isn't in horrible shape...we are not deep anywhere...really looking for hill and ford to play together...when was the last time we had issues at LBer? We may be ok, but 2 of the 3 starters will be new...I think Orr will be a stud though

I can agree with this statement. I would back the guy if he does get the job, but I just don't understand all the hate against all the other guys being named. Imean the guy from Iowa St. Had the cyclones playing pretty damn good ball when he was there...Iowa St for pete's sake. Kragthorpe also did a really good job Tulsa who I think is pretty similar to us, maybe put us ahead of them with our new stadium. The RCA guy from James Madison I am not so sold on, but lets give RV some credit. He has hired some good coaches bother than the Dodge experiment. Let's not just go Canales or bust after 2 wins against some not so good teams.

I guess I just don't get all this fanfare over such short period of time. The only "good" team he has played he lost to in La-monroe. The only wins he had were against doormat western Kentucky and a bad mtsu team. Yes, they are wins none the less, but it isn't like he beating the best in the belt. I am not saying I am against the guy, but I am hearing people on the board comparing him to Hayden Fry and talking about how he is the "perfect" guy for the job. My question is how in the world can people say these things after a month of him being in charge? Sounds incredibly quick to me for people to be saying these things. If he weren't the oc here, and his name came up in the rumor mill as has some other names, I don't think the fanfare would be near as great. Let's not jump on his band wagon after two wins against some not so good teams. After all, keeping games close against the better sunbelt teams doesn't matter...right?

My whole thing about posts like this is why the hell people attack players just because they played for Dodge in high school??? I mean Newton had some pretty solid success at UT when he played...I am personally feeling sorry for the guy for not being able to play the game anymore. If this was one of our own, people would rightfully talking about how it is a crappy set of circumstance for a player to go through. I agree that this is a pretty classless thread starter.

I have no problem with Canales getting the nod if he DOES something. Beating Western Ky. and being close in the other games isn't enough for me. We have been talking about close losses for a LONG TIME now. I don't want to be talking about "hope" with the next coach. I want to be talking about how either Canales beat W.Ky., Troy, La-Mon, and MTSU, or a name guy who has done it before. The ONLY way I go with Canales is if he goes 4-1 over the next five games. Beating Westen Ky. and La-Mon will not be enough. It either needs to be a clear cut decision, or another direction.

I just want to say that I LOVED that! That was freakin funny as hades, and couldn't have been a better way to start the weekend! I love seeing idiots get tazed!!!

I know everyone is very excited about the coaching change, and the large margin win v. W. Ky., but lets tap the brakes on the Canales talk. If he goes out and beats Troy, Monroe, and MUTS, then lets talk...but all he has really done to this point is beat W. Ky...thats all. If Rv is willing to bring in someone visible who has done it before lets have him do it. This isn't about being nice to guys who try real hard...this is about turning this show around. I am happy for Canales, and maybe he can use this opportunity to get a job elsewhere, but as for NT, lets have RV go get someone who has done it. AND...lets put this Canales stuff to bed until he does something other than beating the one team the other guy could beat.

Not to get ahead of myself, but what if this team can somehow take these 3 at home...4-0 in conference... This will be the first time this team can go into a week of practice with their heads up after a close 4th qtr win in forever, and not just any win, but a win over someone that had OWNED us. There are a lot of things to take from this one and apply to a CRUCIAL stretch of 3 winnable at home...CAN'T WAIT!!!

Riley did have a gut check game, and I do hope everyone gives him his props on this one. Hey...what about Prior at U-Back. Sounded like he did a hell of a job tonight

I can not say how much, right now, that this feels like 2001. This team, missing 10 starters, rises up, and just like Todd Dodge just said, "played their asses off!" I am so happy to go through a tight game, and come out on top! There guys must feel incredible right now! I am very proud to be a NT fan! At the end of the day, all the players out, all the crap, we are 1-0 where it counts, conference play. On top of that, we have 3 in a row at home! Go MEAN GREEN!!!

I was thinking the exact same thing, but the more I think about it, Ball St. was horrible the entire year...Clemson is going to win some games, possibly a lot of games, and will do so in the ACC. As several have been saying for months...it all comes down to Rice on Saturday. We beat Rice after the performance against Clemson, and the road games against Army and FAU look a whole lot better. We lose to Rice, sitting at 0-2, and those two road games look 10 times scarier than they do now...

You mean to tell me you all saw that much of a difference between Cannales being the OC and Ford being the OC??? Just kidding...

Just a little food for thought... 1) One of Rice's TD's came on a lucky play to say the least...the pass was deflected to the hands of a WR who was in the right place at the right time. 2) UT's offense is rebuilding, or reloading...I want to say they had to replace like 6 or 7 starters. Continuity I wouldn't say was there yet. Not to say Texas isn't a good team, but I am not going to say that Rice is all that much better than us because their score was closer. That is not the same Texas team as far a maturity, and possibly skill, as what we have seen the past couple of years. I am thinking this game is definitely one I think we can handle. Remember the last time SMU came to town??? I am thinking we have another game like that. Several were on the fence...everyone, players, coaches, and fans knew how important it was, and we came out and took it to them. I am thinking, and hoping, for another game like that!
