With all the secrecy of practice, a comment he made got me a little worried. He made mention that there were a couple "nicks" that they would know more about in the next couple of days. This could be absolutely nothing, as we all hope, but it jsut concerened me a little bit that they would "know more" about a couple of nicks in a couple of days. Seems to me that nicks would come and go and wouldn't really require any kind of monitoring...I am a worrier though. There are a few people, and we all know who they are, that we can ill-afford to lose. We all know what happened last year in terms of injuries, and that still scares the living sh!t out of me for the upcoming season. I really want to see what this staff and this group of players can do with a full roster.

I think you have to throw out last year's contest because Baine was in at QB for that game. Not saying anything negative about Baine, but offensively, we will be a night and day different offense when we play them this year just by having Thompson back there. He simply has more to offer at the QB position. With that being said, I don't know if it is enough to beat them or not, but I am also not saying it isn't

Draylen Ross was cut today by the Chicago Bears...too bad, I was excited for him to get a chance at the next level

No Booger Kennedy??? I was also hoping to see Hall get a nod...but understand there is debate...a stupid debate in my book, but Kennedy...where is the debate there??? Should be in there w/out a doubt! Quinn is also a no doubter, and could not be happier to see him in there!

Just got off the phone with the ticket office...we will not be able to pick up season tickets at the kickoff cookout. They will be mailed out in mid-August.

Quite a few Sunbelt players being signed...not anyone from NT

Has anyone seen or heard of Craig Robertson getting any rookie free agent looks? There have been several to sign this morning, but I have not read or heard anything about Robertson. I figure he is our best shot of getting someone in the league this year.

I think Silver makes a good point in that we will not be learning a new system on offense. This should speed up a turnaround...NT won't have to recruit to or teach a whole new offense

I think if Dan the Man doesn't win 7 games this season, he should be on the hottest of hot seats...maybe one and done. We are paying him too much money to have anything less than 7 wins

On offense the obvious choice is Mr. Dunbar, so I am going to choose a player that I believe can really impact the offense in a real big way with the strong armed Thompson throwing the ball around, and that is one Tyler Stradford. I am really hoping for him to have a real big year with us now having a QB that can get the ball down the field to him. I think he is going to live up to the hype this season. On defense, I am looking not for one player, but a unit, and that unit is the secondary. I am hoping if Cook and Ford come in healthy, with Hil locking down one side, and moving McCord as your 3rd corner, we may really have something...looking forward to seeing what this unit can put together if healthy. And in my odd pick category...the kicker...I am looking forward to seeing what type of impact we see from the young kicker Olen. He has his legs under him and we have him for a whole season. The kicking has been so horrible since Bazldua left, I am looking forward to what he can do with such a strong leg in those close games we are sure to see!

Also, look at how many players either got shots in the NFL, or camp invites under Dickey...Spencer (drafted), Kassell (almost made the Pro Bowl with a 100+ tackle season w/ the Titans), Patrock Cobbs (still has significant role w/ Dolphins), Johnny Quinn (made it deep in 2 training camps with Bills and Packers), Chapman (tryout w/ Vikings), Awasom (should have won a Super Bowl w/ the Giants, and will be back in the NFL w/ the Vikings this season), and I forgot about Kennedy who made it deep into camps w/ the Lions & Bronco And against the argument that it was a week Sunbelt Conference, he didn't just make it by in the league, he won 26 straight, and coached conference players of the year in Kennedy (twice) and Hurd. I know other NT coaches sent players to the league, but DD sent his fair share and doesn't get credit for that either. Finally, in terms of holding his Buick-style offense against him, I didn't hear people complaining when Galbreath, Cobbs, and Thomas were running crazy all over the field. Especially when Cobbs and Thomas were running for 200+ yds it seemed in every game. He knew what games counted and won those...I wish he would have thrown the ball in that damn TCU game more than anyone, but I loved knowing that when I came to a Sunbelt game at Fouts I knew it wasn't going to be if we were going to win, but by how much!

I would assume this correct, that you can buy any available ticket the day of the game that isn't already purchased as a season ticket

This is what most people that bag on DD don't give him credit for...his run brought many, many fans to the program that are still fans today.
