Recruit loses Michigan Sholly over Tweet

As a Michigan fan by birth...I am glad the university did the right thing -
Yep...Big Chief...even had a cool nickname

I just got through reading a DRC article, and even though it has been talked about in everything we read about the Mean Green, regardless of the source, until this year we have not won more than three games in SIX YEARS... I have been to virtually every home game, and a few road games sprinkled in there throughout this stretch and before, but when I think about it not in terms of seasons, but YEARS, I think wow...six years seems like an eternity off bad...sometimes horrible football. I guess every season, I have tried to forget the season before, and my memories of he good times wash away the pain from the year before. Just glad to have Mac here...when you think about 6 YEARS of your life...it makes you appreciate him all the more

When we signed this guy, I thought he was going to be something special on the field...towards the end of his recruitment Arkansas popped in and we were all excited he committed with us...the funny science of recruiting
-
WOW! What about Troy? I think next year is going to be tough to move up past where they have us...not impossible...but tough. FIU, WKU, LaLa, and Ark St., have pretty darn good teams. #1 KEY for the Mean Green...DEFENSE has got to get better. Loved the increased turnovers and sacks, but have to turn it into less points given up...seemed at times there was a busted coverage for every sack or turnover we got.

It was much more than those two players during that run... ....and in Dickey's defense, take away any coach's best players and he doesn't win as many games
-
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, buti believe everywhere he has been other than NT he has thrown the ball transfere a bit...nothing like Texas Tech used to, but not like when he was at NT either

He is the OC today

Athletics Comments on 2012 Schedule

That is awesome we get to miss FIU next year! -
Can't argue with that...

I don't think there is a chance McNulty unseats Thompson, and if that is true that would only gives him one year without Thompson on the roster...their will be someone to take the reins by then that will have enough eligibility to start more than one season... All that to say that no one needs to worry about McNulty being the #1 in Denton...now if the #1,goes down, all bets are off!
-
In reading another thread, I wanted to discuss whether or not people think Cooper Jones was redshifted not because he is worse than McNulty, but because players benefit from an extra year of development, especially at the QB position, and the coaching staff wanted a little bit of separation between Jones and Thompson because Jones will be given a shot to replace Thompson when he graduates? Just a thought...

Looking Back at Freshman Redshirts and Dodge Recruiting
BIG DAWG replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
That '09 class was a program killer...everyone knew we had lost some kids, but when you look at it on paper you realize what a hole NT was in. When you only essentially sign 5 HS recruits in '09, it is no wonder why we had such depth issues this past year. Wow...that class really hurt the program in a ba way. It makes it all the more amazing to see what Mac and his staff were able to do this season! -
I wonder where Kerry Swarn is in his development? I kind of thought he would redshirt, which he did, to put on some weight, but would come in and start in 2012. With us bringing in a JUCO safety, and Trice more than able to lock up the other safety spot, I wonder where Swarn fits in??? Maybe he is still a player for us down the line, but I was really hoping he would turn into one of those 4-year starters for us. We'll see...

South Alabama should count as an FBS team when we play them. If we win that will count towards our bowl eligibility
-
Does anyone have info on why Stok didn't play in a game when it seemed everyone got to play, even down to the walk-ons like Weston Squire?
-
With us getting so close this season to a bowl eligible record, and conceivably being a couple players away, does McCarney change his approach and go JUCO heavy in this next class, or does he choose to stay the course and stay w/ mainly HS recruits. Me personally, for what it's worth I hope he stays w/ HSs
-
What position does he play next season? I thought safety, but I have heard some people on the board talk about him playing corner This post has been promoted to an article
-

I know it has been discussed on the board before, and there are sites to find this info, but I apparently stink at finding it... There is a poster in the background of the shot of McCarney with the 2012 OOC opponents, and I can only make out LSU, Houston, and Kansas St., and they are all away. Surely we have at least one OOC home game next season, but I cannot make out the fourth team on the poster, Does anyone know who our 4th OOC game is next season? Thanks, Josh

I have thought about this...it will be difficult because there could easily 5 bowl eligible teams from the Belt, and we won't all go, and the conference champion gets an automatic bid...that leaves 4 teams fighting for 2 spots, and we have lost to 2 of them, LaLa and FIU. To get to 6 wins ourselves we will have to beat WKU, so we would be ahead of them, but not the other 2. It could come down to who would draw more fans to a bowl game...that would hurt FIU, but does it help us? It is anyone's guess...all we can do is win out and be in the conversation GO MEAN GREEN!

Being just a redshirt sophomore, I think we all had too high of expectations for this kid going into the season because it seems like he has been here forever. BUT...after some games where he struggled, it seems he is figuring this whole game out a little, and this guy's future could be brighter than any of us could have eve thought. Look what he has done the last couple of games...my gosh! @ Troy...31 of 38 for 331 and 2 TDs v. Monroe...23-39 for 332 and 3 TDs This guy has not played his best ball yet...that is still to come. He still has two years to mature and get better...it is a good time to be Green I was leery of Thompson at times, myself forgetting that this is his first year to play significant reps at this level, but he is going to make me a believer, and can't wait to see what this guy does as a senior
-
The final drive was one that put teams away, and we haven't seen in a long time. Great play calling, great execution...this team is growing up in front of our eyes a little more every week!

I was looking back on Rivals just to look at past classes, and one can really see why we are in the situation we are in by looking at those lists. I am not talking about the amount of stars by a players name either. We have all heard the adage you can't judge a class until several years later...regardless of the number of stars, just check out the number of kids that either never came, or left the program early. I know this happens everywhere, but damn. You really need to take a look to remember. I follow he program pretty closely, and it still made me think "wow" Then looking at those list from those three years, you see all the misses and the JUCO guys that were here for a short time and never replaced...which you better be able to do if you are going to go that route. Looking at those lists really makes it clear as to why you really have to have a coach that can evaluate and develop a recruit
