That seems quite a reach

After another year w/out a Mean Green draft pick, I started wondering when that drought could end...in looking at the roster as it is, w/out incoming freshmen, who have obviously never played a down of college ball, I don't think we have any players to break the drought. That is not saying we don't have talented college players, because we do, but I don't see a NFL draft type of player if someone like Dunbar can't get the call. The strongest candidate I see may be Orr, but he is undersized at only 6'0" tall by NFL standards. What do you guys think?

UTSA to C-USA - CBS Sports article
BIG DAWG replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
I usually agree with many of the things you say, but how is playing Tulsa, Rice, and even UTSA, along with the Southern Miss's and and La Tech's of the world not better than the teams in the Belt? If the argument is that CUSA is somehow weaker now, that might be the case...but say if there was some magic formula that determined CUSA 2.0 is at the same strength level of the Belt, our fans will still relate more to these teams, which will increase attendance, which will increase the game day experience, which will in turn increase the face of our program. Just think about the large crowds we have had recently...They are all the teams we would be playing in our bracket of CUSA 2.0...only we wouldnhave those crowds game in and game out Bring in UTSA...I could care less...he'll I even encourage it because it will be one he'll of a road trip...better than going to ark St...la mon, Troy, etc... -
This is just like the old school writeups Harry used to put up...keep em coming! It was these writeups that got me hooked on the gomeangreen.com board!!!

Dave Campbell's 5 Questions about North Texas
BIG DAWG replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
That is a great question... Really good read -
Lemon is out after hamstring surgery...happened v. MTSU
-
I recall him dominating the match ups in all the footage I saw that the athletic dept released of fall camp where the offense and defense was battling for the belt I also think you're drastically underrating the talent found in smaller schools...
-
I was wondering this same thing. I know Jeremy is the senior and has played well, but I think Stok has played his equal and is younger...with what I think would be more upside. We'll see if this position battle stays the same
-
I don't know why you find that hard to believe... I think everyone here expected him to start for that reason when we got him. I think every school, big or small expects their 4* players to start. When they don't it is somewhat a disappointment...especially at a Sunbelt school that doesn't see as much 4* talent. and yes...I do know that rankings aren't everything

The JUCO guys always start out as backups on the spring roster...I bet he starts when everything is said and done

This is in no way a shot at any of our players, but it would be a HUGE letdown if Cam Feldt does not come in here and stake his claim as a stud all-conference o-lineman...simply for the fact that he was supposed to be. I know the argument will be that maybe another one of he guys will be that player, and my counter to that would be then we should have had 2 This guy was brought in here to be the man...preferably at tackle...and if he turns out to be a depth chart guy, then I'm going to be a little upset. Not at the coaches or any of that garbage, but the situation in general. This is a guy I was counting on to be a pillar.
-
Do you think Lemon or Cam Feldt is going to sit??? Not going to happen
-
Lemon is definitely holding down one of the guard spots...if the other spot is battled out between Y'Barbo and Cam Feldt, you gotta think the edge goes to Feldt from everything I've seen, heard, and read, which leaves Y'Barbo on the outside looking in. From Vito's report, Fortenberry is not in the tackle grouping...
-
Here are my initial questions... 1) Y'Barbo...where does he fit into the o-line mix? 2) Does Fortenberry continue to hold down center duties?

SBC Staffer in Hot Springs: "North Texas Is Gone!"
BIG DAWG replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Vito is on this, but isn't going to report anything until there is something concrete to report...expect something soon -
I can say I am comfortable with a 6 win prediction, and 7 would be my stretch number. We will have to win at least 7 this season to get to a bowl game... Possible Losses: LSU, KSU, Houston, Laf, ArkSt, WKU I think Sunbelt games are a crap shoot every year, nothing in this league is guaranteed. It wouldn't shock me at all to win 1-2 between Laf, ArkSt, WKU. With that said, in the Belt some suck team every year comes out and plays really well and surprises everyone. We'll see...here is to a Bowl Birth

I need an 11x15 or bigger overhead view picture of Apogee, ideally filled up with people, maybe Houston or Indiana. I have one of Fouts with my ticket from the last game under the glass, and want to do the same for the first game at Apogee for my office at work. I of course will pay for it. If anyone knows how to get my hands on one, please PM me or just reply to this thread. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks ahead of time!

I was just wondering if anyone noticed, or if I just missed it being posted that Tyrone Nix got hired as the DC for the MUTS??? I remember when Dodge got hired, many on this board really wanted to Nix to get the job... He has coordinated some pretty good defenses at some big schools...I guess we'll see if this hire can keep us under 50pts next time we play them...hope not!

1. Already posted, but Cooper Jones seems to have impressed, and will stay at QB 2. Marcus Smith, from last year's class, will be playing TE. He has put on 20 lbs and Canalas is very excited about him and Power in 2-TE sets, and their ability to make plays in the middle of the field 3. Canales said he is projecting Power to a have 40+ receptions next season 4. Looks like the three grey shirts Vito named are definitely greyshirting because they did not sign a LOI today 5. Rollins is moving to safety 6. Harris is moving to the slot 7. Jarvis is moving from RB to Corner...Canales said he would really like to keep him at HB, but said sometimes you have to help the defense Pretty excited about this class
-
No, the 250lb DT is McDorman, and he is greyshirting. The 290lb DT is Sir Calvin Wallace...he is not grey shirting
-
My question is if these kids can wrok out with the team? I am assuming they won't be able to since they won't be enrolled until the spring...
-
Also kind of suprised to see us grey-shirting one of our 3* players with the RB Tucker...I believe in Dan McCarney though...Go MEAN GREEN!

Kerry Swarn redshirted to I believe
