  1. Its real simple...they hired a college football coach.
  2. Iowa The Big Ten can afford a team from the Big 12 or SEC
  3. Looked like a real fun game. Wish we had a coach who knew how to get to a bowl game.
  4. Why is there going to be an opening in CUSA-West? UNT is not in the expansion talk because there is no serious move that is going to open up a spot in CUSA West. The SBC is a great place for us; its given us a D1 home, some football success, which has help growth the entire athletic department, including the new stadium. CUSA is the next step, but their not expanding in Texas and we're not ready to make the move with a high school coach at the helm.
  5. One regular sized Ditka or a whole bunch of mini Ditkas? Because I don't think Dodge can handle a regular Ditka. But then again Dodge is the worst coach in school history.
  6. This isn't play station, were never getting into the Big 12. CUSA would be incredible for UNT, but I don't think the dominoes are going to fall that way. If CUSA West has a spot have we done enough to put ourselves ahead of the LA Tech?
  7. New Orleans Bowl Musts Part 1 Tours See the French Quarter in the day (The National Parks Service on Decatur gives the best tour and its free) Ghost tours are better than vampire tours, I like every company except Haunted History Tours Carriage Ride (that includes a stop a cemetary) Ride the Street Car (Its a $1.25) Fine Dining Muriels on Jackson Square, NOLA, K-Paul's (All the really nice restaurants have great lunch specials) Best Fried Chicken Coops and Frioellas both on Chartres (If you go to Willie Maes Scotch House take a cab) Oysters Fleix's across the street from Acme is just as good. Also check out the Oyster Crawl Tour on Fridays Drinks The Hurricane a Pat's O'breins is classic and you get to the keep the glass The Monsoon at Port of Call on Esplanade is the best hurricane in town (and the strongest) Drink a Hand Grenade from the Tropical Isle but don't make that the first drink of the night (Don't let anyone in your group drink a red bull and vodka daiquiri) And shop at my friends store, Walnut Street Gourmet Gallary at corner of Royal and Toulouse.
  8. When your a school like UNT and you throw away your coach a year and a half after his last bowl appearance and two weeks after having a heart attack people might think its not a good place to work.
  9. You have nothing to worry about since UNT and the SBC have no tie-ins to the Hawaii Bowl. But I'd take a bowl in Hawaii over Detroit any day.
  10. [quote name='UNTflyer' date='Dec 12 2009, 02:31 PM' post='463557' I think they really need to consider killing this bowl game.
  11. We're not even that. Baylor and Vandy are smart little brothers in their conferences: high academic standards, but not the size of the big programs. We're the biggest school in our conference. And with a High School coach at the helm we are our own unique joke.
  12. Que? How is it a mythical game. #1 vs. #2 every year.
  13. I think Green Mean's right. I think our cash is tied up in the new stadium and everyone knows Dodge is done after week 5 next year.
  14. How will year four be different? Less fans. No one is coming out to watch a proven loser.
  15. Are we so cash strapped from the new stadium that we can't afford the $500,000 to buy out Dodge?
  16. Really? Your trying to blame the board for Dodge's failures. Really?
  17. Iceberg? What Iceberg? Full steam ahead.
  18. When you bring back a proven looser it all on you. I hate to have to fire RV the season before we open the new stadium.
  19. He's only 3-31 against D1/FBS teams. If RV wants to keep than Dodge for one more season he's only putting his own job on the line.
  20. This is a laughable defense. Name one team that has kept a coach that only had 3 D1/FBS wins after 3 seasons? North Texas is a tough place to win at? Dickey didn't 4 straight years. We sent Dickey packing because 5 wins in 2 years wasn't acceptable. Dodge isn't up to our standard. There is no shame in saying we gave the guy who looked good on paper a chance. "A couple more years"? Proves this guy doesn't know anything about college football or our program.
  21. Final tally before the ASU game 88-78 in favor of keeping him. Just for fun can we start this poll over and see if the results stay the same? 5 wins in three years.
  22. CaribbeanGreen just stop. I'm the most hated person on the board and you can't take that from me. The difference is my arguments against Dodge make sense. The dude wasn't up to the job, he had the resume, but he just didn't have the goods. He made a mistake in bringing to many high school assistants with him, and he couldn't recover from that. Dodge was good guy, who did the right coaching things most of the time...public relations, the drug issues, sponsorships. He wasn't up to the job UNT required, just let him go in peace.
  23. I think RV is going to wait until Sunday to fire Dodge.
  24. It is insulting to relate a football program to most expense disaster in this country's history. This is about a sensitive as Nick Sabin comparing Bama's loss to UL-M as 911.
  25. There is no reason to believe things are about to turn around. The Dodge era is the worst in school history. He's set the bar so low not getting blown out by conference opponents looks like improvement.
