  1. "Dodge has done everything right, but win" isn't really accurate. Dodge made a fatal flaw off not bringing in a college staff in year one. Dodge continued to shoot himself in the foot when he ran off our QB in favor of his kid. Even I would let Dodge stay if he can win 6 games this year, but I don't think he can do it. The Dodge era is the worst in school history.
  2. Denton isn't really in the wind corridor, like west Texas so the big turbines wouldn't make sense. There are small scale turbines like the ones on billboards in Times square that could be added to the stadium, but they generate big amounts of energy.
  3. At least I was right about BYU not signing with the WAC. I would love to see the MWC take Hawaii and Utah State to fill the BYU hole and kill the WAC.
  4. BYU isn't going independent. I think its safe to assume that the MWC let the BYU pick which WAC schools it wanted to add to keep them in the Mountain West. The MWC will go to 12 and BYU will make more money because of a championship game, new tv deal, and better access to the BCS. At any rate BYU has to sign an agreement with the WAC by Wednesday or the deal expires. BYU has no reason to wait for the 11th hour on this deal, if they were going Indy they would have announced already.
  5. And why is CUSA expanding to the east? The MWC is definitely looking for a 12th team which will either come from the WAC or CUSA-West. The Big East has BCS bid and is in no hurry to add any schools.
  6. The WAC is not going to get its $10 million dollars from Fresno and Nevada. The resolution with the buyout clause is based on the WAC signing an agreement with BYU this week. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/sports/50190862-77/conference-wac-byu-benson.html.csp
  7. The WAC's chances of getting $10 million out of Nevada and Fresno are about has likely has the chance the WAC will ever see another BCS bid after the realignment is finished. The Big East sued Miami after their move to the ACC too. And why is CUSA looking at Troy? The 12th spot in CUSA was between UTEP, UNT, and LA Tech. If the MWC takes UTEP or Houston that would open up a spot in CUSA-West. And at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see the MWC take Utah State or Hawaii just to deal the WAC a death blow. I also got a feeling there's no money in an independent BYU network with few WAC opponents on the schedule. The BCS has no reason to give BYU the Notre Dame deal, they would more likely get the Army deal where they have to be ranked #1 or #2 to make a BCS bowl. I would just like to see the SBC add LA Tech and UTSA and be done will all this.
  8. All those same sources said BYU was going to make their announcement last Monday. Then they realized the MWC is more valuable with with a 12th team and some BCS questions. BYU doesn't want to go to the WAC or go solo, they just want to make more money.
  9. Texas State's President does a good job of instilling school pride with the students. Requiring all students live on campus the first two years is a huge part of the school pride initiative. Maybe if our leaders we're so interesting in shifting the school's focus from Denton to Dallas we wouldn't feel so threaten by a school that plays in d1aa/fcs, has no media market, and is going to be cannibalized by UTSA.
  10. Shocking FLF's post is non-responsive and DDAL's post lacks a warrant or support for his argument.
  11. It all depends on when the SBC needs to expand. If the conference can wait it will pick up LA Tech and UTSA by 2016-17. It will take UTSA that long to become a full D1/FBS school. And give LA Tech five season in the WAC without the BCS cash from Boise to offset their travel costs and they won't really have a choice. As much as LA Tech has based its capital campaign on differentiate itself from UL-M, its not going to have much of a choice give the state's budget. If the SBC has expand sooner because of something like a raid from another conference, it will look to the MAC. There are a few schools close to WKU and MTSU that would fit in the SBC footprint.
  12. Seems like a fair assessment. My question for the board is 4-8, bringing Dodge to a 9-39 over 4 years enough to keep the guy?
  13. The new coach to go with the new stadium is the best thing that is going to happen to the team this season.
  14. Have you ever said anything that makes sense? UNT should recruit nationally like Nebraska and Oklahoma? Those schools don't recruit players they select them.
  15. The SBC isn't expanding right now because there aren't any viable candidates. South Alabama is already in the pipeline. And LA Tech is clinging to the WAC, but finances will force them to reconsider in the upcoming years. I think it more realistic that the SBC would look to the MAC for expansion candidates over UTSA & Texas State. The conferences has been expanding east not west.
  16. "Why are you wearing a giant eagle head?"
  17. I don't know how we should start the season, but by Week 8 we'll be singing the classic "Nah Nah Nah Nah"
  18. This article didn't say anything other than CUSA TV is up soon.
  19. Isn't it more likely that LA Tech will join the Sun Belt before the WAC expands to 12?
  20. Beer sales should be limited to wet t-shirt decks. Pretending your worried about alcohol use and the colleges images is BS. The school lets beer companies sponsor all types of things. I'm also calling out FLF on alcohol is not family friendly. They sell beer at every sporting event which markets itself to a family friendly market.
  21. Isn't the link what's relevant, not the opinions of another message board. http://www.staradvertiser.com/sports/20100630_Its_only_going_to_get_tougher_for_the_WAC_to_Play_Up.html
  22. Neat chart MGG, but I don't know how you can compare the newest football conference to the oldest. Non-AQ conferences aren't stepping stones to BCS conferences, in the BCS area no team has played up to a BCS conference. Slots have opened up in BCS conferences because they conference is expanding.
  23. Why is quoting another fan board credible?
  24. So how does the WAC get back to the BCS without Boise? And if just quoting bad website and messages boards counts as a credible source, I would like to lower the bar and quote myself from the Scout/CFN board North Texas is not going to join the WAC. 1. The Big West Conference failed. North Texas has already experimented with western time zones and didn't work. Fans don't travel, and the fans don't care about playing teams from the west coast. 2. The Super-WAC failed. The WAC has already proved it has nothing to offer the central time zone, just ask SMU. 3. Basketball. UNT has had two recent big dance berths and has no reason to give that up to over extend its BB team by traveling the globe as part of the WAC. 4. UNT said no before. North Texas passed on the WAC with the last round of realignment, the WAC is less attractive now. 5. Its CUSA or Bust. The 12th spot in CUSA was between UTEP, LA Tech, and UNT. CUSA is better regional fit. 6. LA Tech is leaving. Tech was only able to stay in WAC because of the unequal payments from the last realignment and Boise's BCS cash. With the new payment system, no more Boise, and State of Louisiana's economy LA Tech is not long for the WAC. 7. The WAC kind of sucks. The WAC has been a one trick pony and that pony is headed to the MWC. Whats the rush to re-kindle a rivalry with NMSU, Idaho, and Utah State who UNT owned when they were in the Belt.
  25. "The season will be a success if … UNT wins six games. That might be a tall order after winning five games in three seasons" .500 is the lowest bar CFN sets this time of year.
