SMU is a great example of what a difference a coach can make, but the school didn't step up to pay June Jones, the boosters did. UNT simply doesn't have that type of booster support. We need a coach with head coaching experience, but "big name" guys are probably out of our price range. Jeff Bower, Dan Hawkins, and Dennis Franchione may all be in our price range.

I expect the team to beat FIU and WKY to go 3-9 for the year. Dodge will be fired in mid-November, but will finish out the season. So why wait? We all know this is what is going to happen. I think firing Dodge this week might actually give the fan base something to care about for homecoming.

We all know Dodge is not going to be the head coach next year so why wait to make the announcement? What the advantages of waiting to fire Dodge?

The Belt should offer a spot to LA Tech & UTSA as soon as possible. Kick out Monroe if that's what Tech wants.

The WAC still has bigger payouts than the SBC, but I wouldn't want to be in that conference even with UTSA & Texas State. UTSA is going to cannibalize Texas State. I think the SBC would be smart to just invite LA Tech & UTSA.

That's not true. UTEP beat out UNT and LA Tech for the last spot in CUSA because of things like facilities, baseball, and who their coach was. Our conference win streak is what got CUSA attention in the first place. SMU was part of a package with Rice and Tulsa coming out the mega-WAC. And don't forget TCU was still in CUSA when the SMU deal was worked out.

The WAC is looking at adding Montana, Texas State, and UTSA in football and Seattle & Denver is other sports. So does this make the WAC a better conference?

The same Big East that kicked Temple out? Then MAC is large enough it could shed members and not effect the rest of the conference. South Alabama is going to be a good addition to the SBC, and help build the conference Southern personality.

Wouldn't it make more sense to buy spots on all area sports radio stations; ticket, espn, the fan. But then again marketing is not our problem, its the product Dodge is putting on the field.

Why not just bring LA Tech and UTSA to the Belt. What does playing San Jose State and Idaho do for a central time zone school. And what has Texas State ever done?

I always think there should be a new coach fund. A place where disgruntled fans can donate to create a signing bonus for a new coach. Instead of not buying season tickets, because I don't support Dodge, I would have invested in a new coach fund. I also think the Leach talk is ridiculous, he's simply out of our price range.

Nope, Dodge will find any excuse to play his kid; slot receiver,in front of an experienced QB. And all the whole donation sub-thread; I won't give to the university until they hire a new coach. Look Dodge does a lot of the off field things really well. He's the face of a program Dickey refused to be. The problem is none of that has helped achieve a coach's primary goal; win games.

The "their great kids" and "he's a good guy" defense of Dodge is a bit shallow. What school doesn't have real student athletes? What coach doesn't have integrity?

No, Daddy ran off the QB to make room for the kid "we" wanted. Besides we hold the head coach accountable for the depth chart. Dickey didn't have anyone after Smith died and he didn't get a mulligan.
