No the remaining WAC teams are historically non-competitive programs. NMSU, USU, and ID were 0-12 against UNT when we played in the same conference. The WAC would mean less exposure for the Mean Green. We went through this once when we were in the Big West.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your rant. The new WAC has a total of 6 winning season between them over the last 10 years. Three of those seasons belong to LA Tech. The new WAC has nothing offer UNT. The bi-annual trips to California, Utah, and Idaho are expensive and do nothing for our recruiting. The WAC bowls are even less appealing. We would be better off if the the SBC just added LA Tech and either NMSU or UTSA.

With the WAC press conference today making it known that the WAC is still looking at North Texas, we need to tell the administration to just say No to the WAC. The Sun Belt is in the drivers seat right now. We can pick and choose which two WAC programs to add to the Belt.
-
Conference don't pick new schools based on who the coach is. Coaches come and go. Any expansion move the MWC makes is in our favor. If they take a team from the WAC, it pretty much kill the conference and more BCS cash for us. If they take a team from CUSA, we have a shot at filling the hole and CUSA. And if we don't get into CUSA there is still a chance of the dominoes kill the WAC anyway. As long as the WACs dies, we win.
-
I hope we win the conference lotto too, but stop with the MWC talk. There are no signs that the MWC is looking to add UNT or SMU. This wishing and hoping for better things is what got the WAC into this mess in the first place. If the WAC had tended to their own and kept their footprint reasonable, maybe teams would be trying to leave as fast as possible.
-
Why are you scared of competition? We already compete with them for recruits now, being in the same conference probably makes it easier to recruit the area. Killing the WAC has huge upside for the SBC. It would increase the our portion of the non-AQ BCS payout and eliminate one more recruiting tool for LA Tech.
-
I don't get the hate for LA Tech. Their position is understandable; they we're in the SBC and it didn't do much for them. They based their capital campaign on separating themselves from kid brothers Monroe and Lala ( sort of like how we feel about Texas State). UTSA is just a good market and nothing more. San Antonio is a good marketing for recruiting and better road trip than Las Cruses. I say drop Arkansas Little Rock and move to 12. SBC-West UNT +UTSA A-State +LA Tech ULL ULM SBC-East MTSU WKU Troy +USA FAU FIU All division games would be within 6 hours of each other
-
With Hawaii leaving the WAC, what should the SBC next move be?
-
We just got rid or Denver. Its time for the Sun Belt to drop UALR and add LA Tech and UTSA and go to full 12 team conference. Those little red numbers in the corner must be all my invites.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/11/longhorn-rb-and-dallas-native-tre-newton.html I remember a certain Dodge apologist citing Tre Newton as a reason Dodge would be a good college coach.

Maybe we should worry about going .500 before we worry about BCS bowls.
-
Obviously the powers that be have to judge all the coaching candidates against each. Coach Canales is definitely making a case for himself with his on the field performance. And all the Dodge apologist have to be in love with the guy, he's been able to win despite the depleted roster.

Which one let the team steal the VCRs from the hotel on road games? There is no reason to re-write the past, they were both bad coaches. -

I bet there was a terrorist cell on campus and he needed to stop them -
The Big East is looking at adding two from the following: Villanova, TCU, UCF, Houston, Temple, and Memphis. If TCU jumps the MWC will take either USU, HI,UTEP, or Houston. My guess is the MWC would take one from the WAC just to stick it to them.
-
I know we're suppose to save re-alignment threads for the off season, but the only way this impacts UNT is if Houston jumps. There has to be a hole in CUSA-West for UNT to have shot.

5 Things Canales Can Do To Become A Better Candidate

What? Win games? I thought all it took to be UNT Head Coach was to be a heck of a guy. -
Has more to do with a divided a fan base than the board influencing decisions.
-
Maybe we should be talking about coaches. The board is already dividing into camps attacking one guy as a means to promote their guy. Why are we ripping potential applicants to shreds before they even interview? It seems we are already setting out selves up for failure. Its one thing to say I like this guy, or I don't like the guy we hired because he's an unproven high school coach, but it doesn't make sense to attack applicants.

I like Hawkins because he knew to bench is kid. And he was awesome at Boise, which is who we aspire to be more like.
