  1. Nepotism never fails.
  2. You know its Off Season...when we talk about secret sources
  3. For all the people that cry there isn't a real national champion without a playoff, this is the only true option. A two tier post season will kill the bottom tier (bowls). Over half the teams already lose money on the post season, a two tier post season will only make things worse.
  4. More sources on the Navy to the Big East story http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29532522/34545438 http://militarytimes.com/blogs/afteraction/2012/01/23/reports-navy-football-to-big-east-in-2015/
  5. 1-11? Eventually? Y'all don't think we could be competitive against SMU, UTEP, Rice, Houston, TXST, UTSA in an all Texas conference?
  6. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7495168/navy-midshipmen-join-big-east-football-2015-source-says Word is Navy to the Big East. So the new Big East will be: UConn Rutgers USF Cincy Lville + UCF Houston SMU Boise SDSU + Navy One would have to think Temple and Air Force are the top candidates for the 12th spot.
  7. "This is just the way recruiting goes these days. I was pretty surprised when a few UNT fans said that they thought UNT would hang on to all of its commits and ripped apart any player who would think about backing out of a commitment to UNT." -BV
  8. Your talking about our fan response right? Attacking a high school kid for deciding to go to another school, then insulting the other city and conference is pretty sad.
  9. I like the way the mwc board quotes our posts. Maybe we just merge message boards.
  10. GrayEagle's theory has some trouble with it. 1. No one one inside is talking 20 teams. 2. If the MWC side wanted SJSU they would have already taken them. Last year the MWC took a look at Utah State and San Jose State and the word was they liked USU, weren't sold on SJSU and choose not to expand. 3. The Big East is looking at Temple. All signs are pointing to an all sports merger with 18 teams. The 12th spot in CUSA was between UTEP/LA Tech/UNT so it stand the reason those are the two schools in the running for the 18th spot in the merger if there's a Eastern spot.
  11. The correct answer is Lone Texas A&M Houston Rice UTSA TXST Star UTEP T Tech Baylor TCU SMU UNT
  12. Saw an interesting thread on another board. Said the UNLV AD was on the radio talking about a full merger with 18 teams, maybe even 22 or 24 teams.
  13. Since OldGuyStudent and I are about to derail a realignment thread... What is your ideal conference for UNT? There is one correct answer, but I'll wait for everyone else's responses first.
  14. Shouldn't this be in the SMU forum?
  15. Really your fantasy conference has New Mexico State? It is the off season so I guess we can start a separate dream conference thread. All AD's want the same thing in a new partner. If they are going to split the pie one more way they want a team that brings something economic to the table. That means things like market size or cost containment.
  16. It all hinges on two things; 1. Do they let Hawaii in for all sports. 2. Will UTEP move into the western division.
  17. I think Arky is on to something with things hinging on UTEP. If UTEP doesn't move to the western/MWC division, then they don't need a team in east/CUSA division. But I don't a western/MWC division UTEP would block a UNT entry. Still creates a Texas/DFW tie for recruiting. UNT's metroplex location has to be a draw for all the AD's when it comes to other sports. Does New Mexico's AD really want to ship is women's volleyball team off to Ruston?
  18. Dodds has another article speculating it would take an all new conference to get both CUSA and MWC out of their tv deals, because Fox has first right of refusal on CUSA. But an all new conference would be open to take bids from everyone.
  19. Let's stop the revisionist history. Dickey's methods worked until they didn't. DD failed to change and upgrade his assistants and recruiting techniques as the team improved. DD also solely focused on coaching and was not the PR personalty needed to help rally the base for the new stadium. It is better for us for DD to be in Memphis than at Texas State. You never want an ex-coach in the same state and recruiting pool.
  20. Yeah, because someone else is going to swoop in and buy up all our stock and raise the price. Let's face it, we missed a chance for a well timed PR move. This weekend's meeting wasn't the final close to the final meeting. It was the 90 day mark from when they announced the merger meeting. But LA Tech showed why they are the front runner.
  21. When was the last time you saw a group come out of a planning meeting and immediately announce their final action. Especially colleges which have to run things by a host of boards and presidents.
  22. I like our fans trying to spin this. What LA Tech did was a good idea, we wish we would have done this it.
  23. No, we clearly missed an opportunity to run a positive PR piece today.
  24. Dennis Dodds at CBS Sports seems to be the only one covering the merger. Looks like everyone else is just waiting on the official press release. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270202/34396819 Big East eying Temple & Navy That really limits eastern merger candidates, which should help UNT's chances.
  25. Like it or not LA Tech has most "perception" of any of the expansion candidates.
