Really, you think football is like basketball? And just one "impact" player will make all the difference? This isn't playstation. These aren't excuses. This is a real assessment of where this team is, how it got here, and it is going to take real work to get the team where everyone wants it. This where someone will say something like just winning takes care of itself and will miss the point of thread entirely.

Roster Breakdown Shows the Youth of This Team

So your saying we don't have enough Fullbacks, Halfbacks, and place kickers? -
If we win out, we are guaranteed a share of the conference title. It's not really that bizarre of a situation. At least four other teams are in the same spot, the only thing is we can't all win out, so the conference title can't ve split more than two ways.
-
Umm, because bowls don't have at large bids? Because the debate is about access to the national title game and not the Big Bowl's payouts. Why should the Cotton Bowl have to take a really hot MAC team? Why would the smaller bowls sign with the mid majors if the conference doesn't have to honor their contracts? Why would a bowl take the 5th place CUSA team if they could take the 12th place SEC team. A open access bowl format would hurt smaller schools more than it would help them.
-
If you don't think a liitle guy can get ranked in the top 4, your problem is with the ranking systems not the bowls. We have a two tiered post season. Tier one is a 4 team playoff that all schools have access to. Tier two is a traditional bowl system, where bowls have contracts with conferences.
-
I don't view this as a big guy vs little guy issue. Under the new system every school has a shot at the national title, they just need to rank in the top 4. Wht get mad that 5-12 get to plat in high dollar bowls under traditional contracts.

Heart of Dallas Kickoff Classic at Cotton Bowl

Wait, there's a way to get a payday game without the expense of traveling? -
CFN has updated their bowl projections, they have... Big East short for Beefy bowl, WAC gets the extra CUSA short for the NO Bowl, MAC gets the extra SEC short for Indy bowl, B12 gets the extra They also say CUSA short for Hawaii bowl, but have ECU in the game

What will UNT's record be in the final 5 games?

Final 6 games, were going bowling! -
I don't want to get ahead of ourselves and starting making plans for late December, but there are some interesting scenarios where there might not be 70 bowl eligible teams. ACC - wont fill it's 9 slots. No one can fill UNC's bowl ban B12 - 8th slot on the bubble. Baylor could spoil it for Iowa ST and both could miss the post season. BE - 6th slot on the bubble. USF could be a spoiler for The bubble teams. B10 - 8th slot on the bubble. Purdue and Minnesota could spoil it for each other CUSA - not going to fill it's 6 slots. No way Marshall, Houston and SMU all go .500 MAC - will get an extra bowl slot MWC - fills their 5 slots PAC - fills their 7 and takes an extra SEC - 9th slot on the bubble. An extra BCS slot might create a hole SBC - will get an extra bowl slot WAC - will get an extra slot
-
Not quite. 1. KState is really good. 2. Even Colin Cowherd called the upset last week. Big team coming off a big win, on the road. 3. This has nothing to do with UNT, so why do we care.
-
100%. Any team that has 7 wins is going bowling. 6 wins should also get any team a post season spot.
-
Way to ignore the facts. Multiple teams with winning records have bowl bans, coupled with bad play in other conferences mean there will be a shortage of bowl eligible teams. 6-6 gets you a bowl this season. Add in the fact that we draw well, and just won on national tv and you have a very different situation than an upstart WKY getting left out in 2011.
-
They don't have any fans to bring.
-
No, we don't rush the field for USA
-
Obviously we have to win games, but the other half of the bowl equation has to with available bowl slots. Keep your eye on teams like Purdue, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Air Force, and SMU/Houston that could all end up below .500 and create a lot of holes in the bowl schedule.
-
Nope, all 6-6 teams should go bowling. Usually only two or three bowl eligible teams get left out, but there are too many bowl bans this year (Ohio St, Penn St, NC St, maybe UCF, and I think there's one more) the NCAA might not be able to fill all 70 bowl slots with .500 teams. The SBC could have 4 or 5 bowl eligible teams that get to fill the slots the Big 10 and CUSA can't fill.

I thought it was some NCAA rule that you could't sell beer in a stadium and have beer at on-site tailgates. If that's not the case and schools are allowed to sell beer now, then why aren't we doing it currently? And secondly why haven't we fired the person who over looked such a revenue stream?

This morning I was checking the stats on ESPN and clicked on their message board about the game and was disturbed by two things; the amount of racism, and the number of people claiming the game was fixed. The fixed conspiracy focused on UNT wining and the refs flagging the last TD. I've never really followed an ESPN board and was wondering if this was the norm or if anyone heard the same conspiracy nonsense.

So the only negative is you wanted to act like a tool and couldn't? Rush the field mid-season, with a losing record and you think the people telling you know are lame? This isn't even about having a clue, it's about self-respect.
