LA Tech's AD could really use one of those watches.

I'd take Egypt. Long history, bigger market.

The fact that we sucked for 6 seasons doesn't make F_U good. I'm also not sold on their ability to deliver the Florida market. Tulane has a better reputation, and their leaving as unsettled Tulsa. Losing Tulane was bad for the Western Division teams; loss of a recognizable name, close travel partner, destination city, replaced with a competitive imbalance, spreads out the division. Back to the SBC, one thing we learned was our conference gaves us a home, but our conferences mates never really brought us anything.

Can CUSA East get any worse?

The MUTS didn't help themselves by not showing up in their last game.

LA Tech turned down a local bowl for themselves because they didn't want to LOSE to ULM in front of a home crowd. And eve if their AD's story is true, that they were just too late calling the bowl back, they should start the search for a new AD along with the head coach.

NEXT YEAR...not asking what if, but stating....NEXT YEAR!

We should turn the message boards off until August. -
This grassy knoll theory has a big problem, the Big $ conference don't want to get the system down to 4 mega conference because its less money. 4 mega conference sets up a very simple 4 champion playoff. The SEC doesn't want that. The SEC is betting on have 2 team the current playoff sytem. They don't want to give that extra slot away to the PAC-12 or Big 12 (minus 2) just because those conferences are better than the ACC. The Powers That Be love the new system. Mega money for the 1-4 playoff, Big money Bowls for your conference champ or next best team, and your regular bowl tie-ins for the rest of your conference. The SEC could easily have 2 teams in the playoff, 1-2 teams in the Access bowl (Sugar Bowl is always going to take an SEC team, plus your other 8-10 bowls.

I wonder if he has an out in his contract if/when they go fcs.

Yeah, that was a typo. Fixed it. Now that our SBC run is finally over I think its safe to say... We really benefited from the western defectors. Troy and Damarcus Ware had our number. Our coaching was just horrible to not do better against the Florida start ups. We played a much of .500 ball against no-name teams, because in truth we were a no-name team. The SBC gave us a chance to change that, build better facilities, and start taking advantage of the DFW market. It doesn't look like CUSA is going to be the siliver bullet we hoped it would be, but its going to do a lot for the program. Annual games with UTEP, Tulsa, UTSA, Rice, LA Tech, and SMiss should do wonders for the fan base a recruiting. We will finally be playing games agaisnt teams fans have heard of, with fans that travel. The increase in conference payouts and closer games should generate enough revenue to take one of the payday/bodybags off the schedule.

Super donor is an oversimplification, but that is a sweet picture of Frenchy. Going back to the old CUSA days, Louisville had the largest budget on any mid-major program for years. They spent alot of money for a lot of years to get into the Big East.

This is a non-issue. Why should we punish teams for making to the first round of the post season, their conference championship game?

NIU beats Kent St in double OT. The BCS goes unbusted.

No one is wild about the being on the receiving in of the recent round of conference realignment, but what other move was there to make?

Conference USA responded as well as it could have

I like how the author spins CUSA East being devoid of competitive programs is a good thing because it makes it easier for ODU.- 19 replies

I'm sure the new CUSA will have a better payout and more bowl options than the SBC, but trading Tulane for either MUTS or SMiss as a conference mate spreads the Western footprint out a bit. Our new conference ride is feeling a little more like a used car, than a new one. Its still an improvement over the old buick that is the SBC. Guess I just had my hopes up for New Orleans road trips.

3-4. The sky is falling! I repeat the sky is falling!

Why is this thread still going? CUSA added MTSU & FAU to fill the Tulane/ECU void. At this point what would TXST get you? An extra number western member on the way to a 16 team conference. Why not add Ark St, Lala or even USA? Every team in realignment has been about market share (except TCU). There is no economic argument to be made for TXST over the other candidates.

Well the point of this thread was about fan boys pyschological inability to get behind Mac because of their jilted love for Dodge. I would saying being jealous of someone else' head coach fits in that category. I don't really care about other team's situation, I care about our situation. And because of that I have to be realistic about our situation.

All of the conference realigment this week has been disappointing as a college football fan. A 14 team Big Ten does little for anyone. Yeah, they make more money with the NY/NJ market access, but the 14 team arrangement just means less games between very traditional rivals. The new Big East looks a like like the old CUSA. I just don't see where the money is, when they keep talking about this big tv deal. Are the networks really lining up for SDSU vs ECU? ACC with Louisville is alright, but Louisville without Cincy & Memphis just seems odd. The new CUSA is really disappointing. As a UNT fan I thought the western division was going to be perfect for us. Compact regional division with winnable games. The new division was really going to cut down on travel cost for other sports, and maybe for once his program could get ahead economically and do things like schedule less body bag/pay day games. I also hates the CUSA divisions. The East looks awful. Two start up programs in ODU, UNC-C, two very new programs in FAU, FIU, a traditional bottom feeder in UAB and either MTSU or SMiss. And as a UNT fan I hate the idea of playing Tulsa & SMiss every year. Yeah, SMissis in the toilet this year, but they are traditionally one of the best mid-majors along with Tulsa. These division just seem really loop-sided. The new CUSA is feeling alot like kissing your sister.

Making I'd ask what happen to the 12th game. The real debate is what happens in 4-8, 5-7 situation. But I think so little of Dodge I don't really care what happens in the first 3 Mac seasons. I think Dodge screwed this team up so much that it's going to take 3 seasons to recruit & recoach. So I care about what happens in year 4.

Just like the Big East is CUSA 2.0, The ACC is the Big East 2.0, and the MWC is the WAC 3.0
-
Why divide the revenue 14 ways for a team that doesn't increase your market share?

Collin Cowherd had a good point on his radio show that sums up the haters on this board. He pointed out that after someone had been in a bad relationship they are less likely to give the next person more time and he then talked about the situation at Colorado. Which makes sense. The folks whinning about Mac, keep complaining about the last 8 years. The logical half of this board doesn't hold Mac accountable for the final two years of DD's contract or what happen under the Dodgeball era. It also makes sense that many of the whinners were Dodge fan boys. So we get, the fan boys got their heart broken by their high school hearthrob and are no to jilted to give Mac & logic a chance.
