  1. What network (if any) is carrying the UNT @ Tulane game? Maybe we could list what channel that is for the different providers (Dish, Uverse, etc).
  2. Let's stop the revisionist history. Todd Dodge was the worst coach in school history. The record speaks for its self. The fact that things never bounced our way showed it had nothing to do with bouncing. It proved Dodge and Co. weren't up to the job. Dodge doomed himself when he choose to bring all the different HS assistants with him. The team was outcoached at every turn, we had guys who were excited not to have bus duty going up against professionals that coach college football 60+ hours per week. Dodge and Co. tried to run too complicated of an offense that required too many moving parts, and he didn't have the recruits to make it work. Dodge's high school myth was shattered in that first game against OU. He looked so lost at the end of the game, he tried to talk to Stoops at the end of the game and got the blow off pat on the back. But why rehash the worst time in school history. MAC has this team on the brink of a bowl run.
  3. If this is a twitter thing, where does #untboobs fit in?
  4. Give up a big play and then come from behind, its kind of our thing now.
  5. I like how this thread as digressed into back in my day we'd walk ten miles barefoot, up a hill of broken glass to watch UNT football. Look, everyone knew the early start and playing opposite this year's game of the century was going to hurt attendance. That addresses the people who didn't turn out for the game. I have a really issue for the students that turned out for the tailgate and either went home when the game started or just stayed on the hill and partied. "We" have to find away to make the game the central game day attraction.
  6. Let's not get greedy and demanding. Just like we said last week, we're not going to lose every close game. This week we'll remind everyone, we're not going to win every close game.
  7. I wouldn't much too much to CFN's projections. 1. I'm a moderator on that board so how much credibility to the really have? 2. They have Georgia in the National Championship Game. And I just don't see how that will happen after next week.
  8. Outside of the #1 in CUSA the bowls have say in which eligible team they pick. Bowls want the team that is going to sell the most tickets. The ticket city/heart of dallas bowl as done 40k - 48k. The bowl knows there is going to be an attendance drop off with a CUSA team replacing a Big 12 team, but they still want the best local draw. So that means Tulsa, Rice, LA Tech or UNT. I think Rice may win the conference. And Tulsa will get a parting gift in the Hawaii bowl.
  9. You just took this thread to a very weird place.
  10. We're four wins away from going bowling. 1. Idaho 2. Ball State 3. Tulane 4. MTSU or LA Tech 5. S. Miss or UTEP 6. UTSA Then my bet is the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
  11. ESPN.COM says it was... ATTENDANCE: 14,747 Seems about right.
  12. I recorded the game and am watching it now. The tv coverage is great. Way better than anything we had with the Sun Belt and ESPN. CUSA's commercials even look better.
  13. This. A 2-0 home stand to start the season. And I fan base that has woken up against hater/trolls like '90.
  14. I was late making it to the game, which is normal for me. I made to the stadium just after the opening Ball St. touchdown and noticed a few things I had seen before in the past two seasons. 1. Lots of students leaving. As I was crossing the pedestrian bridge at least 200 students were leaving. About 1 in 10 had tailgating gear (coolers chairs) so I believe some might be going to their cars and returning, but i was clear the vast majority were headed home. Most the exiting students were female, and 9 out of 10 were greek (wearing their letters). Very decked out students, tons of green, lots of sun dresses, dress shirts, and boots. 2. Tailgating was in full effect. The hill was full, music blaring, hundreds of students milling about, normal tailgating stuff you see and hour before the game. I was surprised by the number of PA systems playing different music. 3. The students like modern music. I sat in different seats so I'd be in the shade and there were lots of students in the section. During the first quarter the students would dance and sing along with the different top 40 clips that were playing. The alumni seems to scratch their heads and wonder what was going on. 4. Lots of people headed for the doors at the end of the First. I can't say I blame them, we don't have a proven recorded, but those you stuck around got a really good game. My take away. The school as done a lot to improve the game day atmosphere but is was to find a way to keep the Game the central attraction. Yeah, I think having beer in the stadium would help. But maybe they should also ban the outside PA system after kickoff. School pride needs to evolve beyond just taking a selfie at the tailgate and going home.
  15. I like football weather. And at 3 p.m. its just going to be hot.
  16. Umm. Its football season and we're having "ring talk." Maybe, just maybe the moderators will put this thread in its deserved place.
  17. Yeah, that's my point. TV is imporant, but its on a remote channel in the middle of the day so Okalahoma State can play an fcs team.
  18. So why are playing at 3 p.m.? What game got the 6 p.m. slot? Is the early start worth it?
  19. What you call frustrating, I call progress. The fact that there are so many different ways the team could have won is encouraging. No question we have to learn how to win the close ones, but with MAC at the helm I think we will. We've got a real shot at bowl this year.
  20. A lot of "sky is falling" posts, but the team is exactly where they were predicted to be after two games. 1-1 with a better showing in each game than was expected. Add that to the fact that the rest of CUSA is soft this year; Tulane upset by S. Alabama, Tulsa struggles with Co. St. We got a lot of football in front of us 9 of the next 10 games.
  21. If only there was some group to lead these cheers. Perhaps these cheer individuals could be students themselves. These cheer coordinators could even wear cute uniforms and have rehearsed routines to draw attention to themselves and fire up the crowd. If only the university would step up and fund these cheer associates.
  22. So even if the numbers are cooked (which they aren't) then the attendance was in-line with our five year average. The fact is our fan base is growing. MAC & RV have done a great job reaching out to the students and making Game Day part of the student experience. Putting the students first is how you grow your fan base. Students become the alumni and community that turns out. Blaming Denton (like Plumm does) is backassward.
  23. Can someone post our attendance stats for the last five years? I have a feeling Saturday's turn out is completely in line with our averages. I also have a feeling those complaining about attendance are horrible at stats, and enjoy uniform threads in the off-season.
  24. Heart of Dallas Bowl.
  25. A ranking system that always rewards the same team, that no one thinks about nationally isn't a good ranking system. #141 on the list, but #1 in your heart.
