Bad karma. Our fans have been a complete embarrassment on the message boards the last two weeks. Maybe we should cool it on the racist, sexist, cocky smack talk. Maybe the mods on this board should step up and think about our school reputation.

Let's stop calling the Heart of Dallas bowl the Cotton. But I do thing Eagle's bowl projections are spot on. We lost control of CUSA West today and bought ourselves a ticket to Hawaii.
-
This post is incorrect. We must win out to "clinch" CUSA West. We are tied with Rice, but hold the tie breaker. If we get in a 2 loss situation, Tulane holds the tie breaker with us. But let's not get ahead of our selves. Lets meet UTSA and finish the season undefeated at home. Then Tulsa, the championship game, and then the bowl.
-
There still might be bowl chaos but UNT will be unaffected. Big 12 will only have 6 bowl teams. They won't fill all their slots, so there is no chance they can take one of CUSA's. Big Ten will only have 7 bowl teams. Northwestern & Indiana have to win out to get to 6, which doesn't seem likely. So they might not fill all their bowl slots. In fact this might even mean there's a chance a CUSA team could play in the Texas bowl.

Yes, being in a bowl is good for lots of reason. Teams do get extra practice, but the NCAA still limits the number of practices a bowl team gets. So a team playing in an early bowl gets the same number of teams playing in a late bowl. But overall it is better to have more bowls spread out over November and December.
-
This thread went down hill quick. 1. UNT is in a good spot with CUSA. The "extra" bowl eligible teams will be in the SBC and MAC and those teams will have a hard time finding a bowl home. 2. The Big 12 has 7 bowl tie-ins. Its on their website, I don't know why we are debating this fact. 3. It will be hard for the Big Ten to fill all their slots, but the door is still open. 4. It will be hard for the Big 12 to get an extra slot, but the door is still open. 5. Random hating on rivals serves no point. Tulane is the best fit for the New Orleans bowl, why fuss about it. 6. We are a dream match up for the HOD. The bowl would love to have a Big 12 team, but we are probably the best fit for a CUSA team. 7. Everyone is acting like the Hawaii bowl isn't an option. CUSA has to contend with bowl politics. What can they do to keep their bowl partners happy to keep the relationship going. Bowl realignment is going to following conference realignment. CUSA wants to keep its bowls, that why we are seeing articles about CUSA moving its champion to HOD (TO KEEP THE RELATIONSHIP)
-
Indiana is in the same boat with 2 out of 3 (vs. Wis, OSU, Purdue) And Illinois has to win out (vs. OSU, Purdue, NW) Obviously if the B10 doesn't fill their bowl slots, CUSA should be safe with their bid to the HOD Bowl.
-
I think we're headed to the Heart of Dallas Bowl. But it might take two more wins to guarantee we get the HOD over the Hawaii bowl. I also wouldn't count the Big 12 out. The flier UNT was passing out about bowl games says HOD is a CUSA/Big 12 tie-in vs. the Big Ten. The Heart of Dallas Bowl website also hypes their relationship with the Big 12, but it also says this year's game is CUSA vs. Big Ten. The B12 also has 7 bowl tie-ins, not 8, so if for some reason TCU becomes the 8th team there will be bowl chaos that could effect us. Bowls are about ticket sales first, politics second, and match-up third. With that being said we're a notch ahead of the "extra" SBC teams that would be 6-6.
-
The math is looking bad for every bowl eligible team to make it to a bowl this season. We could easily end of with something like this. AAC - 5 bowl teams ACC - 10 bowl teams B12 - 7 bowl teams B10 - 8 bowl teams CUSA - 7 bowl teams IND- 3 bowl teams MAC - 6 bowl teams MWC - 7 bowl teams PAC12- 8 bowl teams SEC - 9 bowl teams SBC - 6 bowl teams That's 76 bowl eligible teams for 70 bowl slots. We need to keep winning. We need to keep attendance up.

That's not going to happen, so I wouldn't spend much time talking about. -

The bigger story would be the CUSA champ to the Heart of Dallas bowl in the future. -
ESPN projection: Notre Dame vs. UNT in HODallas Bowl
shaft replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
3 pages deep and no one bothers to ask how this match up would be possible. Why won't the Big Ten fill their bowl slots? Nevermind the fact Notre Dame has a deal to fill ACC bowl slots. Heart of Dallas: UNT vs Iowa/Northwestern/Minn. is the most realistic option.- 61 replies

I'm worried about this scenario. Team from the east (ECU or Marshall) wins CUSA championship. New Orleans - Tulane or Rice Heart of Dallas - Rice or UNT Military - ECU or Marshall Beef 'O - MTSU Hawaii - UNT or Rice There's a chance CUSA executives send ECU or Tulane to Hawaii as a parting gift. But I think the CUSA powers that be will give the New Orleans bowl Tulane to keep them happy. Let's not pretend there aren't politics with bowls. And our conference contract with that bowl is up soon. So what can CUSA to do keep the New Orleans Bowl from following Tulane to the American.
-
Divisional record is the divisional tie-breaker. Tulane controls their own destiny, but we're there right behind them if they slip up. With that being said we still have our own affairs to attend to... Win out, and turn out. We need big attendance numbers for our remaining games to convince the bowl committees were a better pick or we might end up in Hawaii.
-
After this weekend it will be a 3-way tie in CUSA West with Tulane holding the tie-breaker. If we win out, and Rice beats Tulane at the end of the season then UNT wins CUSA West.
-
@Flyer Not sure CUSA has the Armed Forces Bowl tie-in this season. I pretty sure they 6 bowls, not 7. As far as the SEC/Liberty Bowl, I thought the new contract guaranteed CUSA champ that slot. Also I thought CUSA pooled all bowl funds then paid out an allotment for all bowl teams, then an allotment for the rest of the conference. But CUSA picks up the travel tab to the bowls.
-
FAU is up by 10 in the 4th Quarter. If the owls pull off the upset it creates a 3 -way tie in CUSA West.
-
Let's see if I've got this right. CUSA has 6 bowl tie-ins for 2013 1. Liberty (Memphis) = CUSA Champ vs SEC #8 or American #5 2. Heart of Dallas (Dallas) = CUSA vs. Big Ten #7 3. Military (Annapolis) = CUSA vs. ACC #8 4. Beef O'Bradys (St Petersburg) = CUSA vs. American #6 5. Hawaii (Honolulu) = CUSA vs. MWC #5 6. RL Carrier (New Orleans) = CUSA vs. SBC #1 Outside of the Liberty the bowls don't have to pick in ranked order and can select the best draw for their bowl. CUSA bowl eligible teams will most likely be: Tulane, Rice, UNT, ECU, Marshall, MTSU So where does everyone end up? And how to do we stay out of the Hawaii bowl?
-
Does the school get the parking revenue or doe is go to CSC? Also why is North Texas Blvd. still closed on game day?
-
The Green Wave beat the best team in the conference, is 3-0 in conference play, and on their way to their first bowl in a decade. No need to hate.
