  1. The University should make the student vote not to instate the fee. That way its clear sailing for the new stadium. Little reverse psychology I suppose.
  2. I heard this today on ESPN Radio about the Iowa Sexual assault scandal. http://deadspin.com/5027393/university-of-...-sexual-assault Colin Cowherd host of the show claims in order to be a successful college team in this day in age you have to have players who get in trouble off the field. He said the sad fact is that good players like to cause harm off the field because they love pain. He took examples from Florida, OU, USC, Ohio State claiming the better the team the more police are involved. Also depending on just how good the player is, will also determine the universities involvement with the accusation. I would like to read your thoughts on this
  3. They were smart to go after the bowl games near the bulk of the SBC teams. The Independence bowl is so much fun, part of me wishes that was where the SBC champ could play. Also side note, ACC backs out MWC to play WAC on the BLUE FIELD in future bowl games!
  4. This act was only a matter of time. Fans are not willing to watch their 6-team play a 6-6 team. It should not be a surprise then if the SBC or WAC schools start getting tie ins when these teams have the potential to have better records. It is not about adding more bowl games its who they add. For example, what is the point of having the Cotton bowl or Independence bowl, the Outback bowl or Alamo bowl when the difference between teams records is one win or loss.
  5. This I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. First off Ticket sales are down because the economy. Every school has alumni. To say Tulane could not fill the Sugar Bowl or South Florida to fill the Orange bowl is a stretch. For Hawaii to fill up a bowl is a stretch because the price of tickets. TV Ratings has nothing to do with Kansas going 11-1 or Boise State being able to play Oklahoma. Besides what do big schools have to be afraid of, other than the fact that they are just as average as every other BCS or Non-Bcs team. Look at Florida State they are nothing yet they hold the ACC most conference wins why? because they were in a easy conference. Look at Ohio State everyone jumped on their bandwagon in the 2002 cause they won against Miami on a bad call. Now the past two years they have been man handled by True SEC powerhouses. Just like there is no crying in baseball there is no politics in College football. I will cheer for UNT to be at the top every year and ABC and ESPN can go out and buy a UNT Eagle mascot head-wear for game day and Lee Corso can put it on because the days of USC and Notre dame the only game to look forward to are over.
  6. For what 3 or 4 strong years now the college football season has been blessed with a Utah, Boise State, or Hawaii break through team. Granted before the experts will begin to give credit to the Non-BCS schools the BSU and HU teams need to have more than just one break through season. Lets face it though we all love underdogs, but everyone realizes that at the end of the year if could be a 10 years before the teams play in another championship series bowl game.
  7. Yeah but after halftime we didn't change our offense just kept going up the middle those quick turnovers did us in. Not this time SEPT 6 is approaching.
  8. How is Hawaii going to realign with anyone. The PAC-10 could careless. The alumni is going to have to start sending in more money to the AD. But do not be surprised with the Hawaii Bowl becomes a thing of the past!
  9. With the way small schools have been playing powerhouses lately, I would never turn down a shot to play A&M and who knows maybe it could have helped NM recruiting.
  10. Yeah For the longest time it was New Mexico State and we have little ties to them anymore. Glad to see the correction
  11. Does anyone think FAU is the real deal or will we have another sun belt champ fall by the wayside?
  12. If you log on to Meangreensports.com all times are there They have the Rice game set for 6PM reports say its 4PM Other notables: FAU is at 3PM ASU is at 1PM
  13. This is a Unifrom change. Its not just about the helmets anymore. http://calbears.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/s.../062408aaa.html
  14. So North Texas gets a make over. Now SMU is following suit http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-footb.../070208aaa.html Each new coach says "We will be moving this program in a new direction!" Is changing the uniforms the first step to success??
  15. Its great to know we have a market for this now. Bring it on!
  16. With all the JC transfers it wont be no OU thats for sure. Granted they may when but not by a blow out. All the JC kids will be trying to make a name for themselves, maybe out handling their performance on Field vehicles. Those mishaps could open the door for a close game.
  17. SMU they are the closest thing to a rivalry. We need a team we look forward to playing each and every year. If not SMU then bring back NMSTU!
  18. I have to question why most of the teams are Sunbelt with a few MAC thrown in the mix. I dont see Miami Ohio or Akron making this a career movie. The Sunbelt teams should stay unless they feel the need to change the teams they play. CUSA have at Western KY.
  19. This is the first time in 5 years I will be outside of Texas on Aug 31st. I will be in Denver I plan on either going to CU vs. CSU game or seeing if anyone noticed I left for Kansas for a couple of hours!
  20. I have mixed feelings on this notion. I find while a student is at UNT they are overlooked by admin concerning their future wellbeing with regards to sending in donations. However, it is not the universities responsibility to track down the graduate and say "thanks for graduating now how about a little return in dollar amounts. All I am saying is that students one day become alumni and if in good standing with the university they will send in money, regardless of what the name may change too!
  21. Bad language and rude remarks are at any university. Trust me when I say if obscene behavior should keep a university out of the pack-10, then USC should have been dropped after the Rose Bowl game with Texas. Fresno may have looked like the cleanest school that day.
  22. Fresno State will be at the top of the list. BYU will ask for to much money to transfer and Utah does not have a large fan base. I have been to some of their away games and from what I can tell they are on par with MWC.
  23. To be honest what does it matter. I would want to play La-tech that way when ULM we have more celebrating rights. UNT and ASU get trashed by Texas and others all the time you dont see us crying and jumping ship saying lets not play them. But because they schools are of equal caliber it is ok to bring in the AD's and work out the differences.
  24. Who remembers: Matt Simon He is now the Runningbacks coach for the San Diego Chargers.
  25. Smu should be given. I mean no one questions SMU is going to play TCU. UNT should be in talks with SMU, Army, and (insert university here)
