I don't think scrutinizing performance is the issue, it's the way it's being done. These kids could've played at other schools but decided to come to ours. They deserve respect just for doing that. They're not making half a million dollars a year like McCarney & Co. and are sacrificing their bodies on Saturdays. The anger should be directed towards Dan McCarney and Rick Villareal. It's not McNulty's fault he's in over his head as a starting FBS QB.

Fire Mac - Hire Memphis' Offensive Coordinator

Perfectly timed post. :D -
Excluding NT, of course.

Well, let's be real about this for a moment. Name me 1 FBS school that offered him?

MGB: Five thoughts on UNT's loss to SMU
Got5onIt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Vito may have had a better game prediction if he was allowed to watch scrimmages & practices. :P These 5 points sum it up quite well tonight. Did we ever get an official Rear on the Record post showing predictions for 2015? -
Well, put Harry. It's easy to bash players, but they're putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment. The people who run the program and make these decisions to put players in positions where they are doomed to fail are the ones who should be held accountable. I just can't for the life of me figure out why this staff continues to try and stuff a square peg into a round hole? Why and where is the motivation for this? It just makes zero sense to me. The goal is the win or is it to prove something to someone? There were definitely positives out there today (defense & special teams). In the end, you have to put points on the board to win and one unit is solely responsible for doing that......
-
Unis & defense were some the few positives tonight. I loved them.

I went into this game worried because of the offense. I'm not angry tonight because I'm not surprised. We all saw the horrendous play at QB last year but expected a complete 180 in one season? Did we really all forget how bad the QBs performed last year? What in the hell does Mac expect from his QBs??? To make only one or two important throws a game? I'm not expecting to see Marcus Mariota out there, but good god a QB that can throw a spiral would be nice. I am not shitting any of you when I say that I've seen better passers at the FCS & D2 level (yeah I know the FBS game is faster but the lame duck throw shows me enough). I've seen freakin' players that can put the rock on a dime, but not at NT because you're not 6'4".

Its time to Fire RV, Canales and maybe Mac
Got5onIt replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
I brought 4 extra people to tonight's game. One of them immediately pointed out the really old hunched guy pacing the sidelines. I couldn't help but think younger blood may do this program good. He's looking really old out there now.... -
I thought about getting the Smith chant going like I did that year with Woody in the student section when Woody Wilson took over during the SMU game at Fouts. McNulty fumbled the ball & my 8 year old spilled his drink on a lady in front of us, both events sucked the motivation out of me.....

The intermediate passing is horrendous. If it's not a quick throw in the flat or slant, it's not in the gameplan. I'm not surprised one bit by the limitations of this passing game. Defense played hard and the running game showed flashes. Even with that said, if you can't throw the damn ball you aren't going to win many games
-
It will jump start you but quickly fall off if you can't sustain it. 1 season over .500 since 2005 doesn't do a whole lot of good for your program's perception. Think about that for a minute. Only one season with 6 wins or more in the last 10 years. No wonder this program has a problem recruiting.....

I wear a UNT hat every where I go. Comedy clubs, dinners, movies, etc. I have several I use on special occasions or when required to look a little more "upscale". That's how hardcore I am.

QB sneak!

I drove around DFW looking for NT vs SMU billboards and only found this:

Very nice writeup. The only thing that gives a me super, duper, extremely small, atom sized ray of hope is the fact AM will not have to look over his shoulder or try to play beyond his capability to prove to Mac he deserves a shot at starting. He was the 3rd QB going into last season. Since last season ended, he was the consensus front runner and won the job going into week 1. He's the undisputed number 1 and will get every opportunity to stay there. Hopefully, this allows him to focus more on his play and possible improvement.....

The Sports Wizard? -
I have that eerie feeling of Tulsa back in the early 2000's when everyone, fans and sports outlets, predicted NT to destroy the Golden Hurricane in the home opener. If my memory serves me correctly (and it doesn't half the time), Vegas had NT as a convincing favorite at Fouts. Tulsa came in and stomped a mudhole into the Mean Green, starting the end of the DD bowl run era. Noone saw that coming......

He's trying to adjust his bra strap.

This is definitely going to get ugly......

Books are probably expecting a high percentage of bets to be on SMU. The -5 is to help push some people to the NT side. Since it's already jumped early, I'm curious to see if the line moves at all by gametime....

So is yours. ^

I'm going to sit this week out. I honestly have no clue how to gauge this teams upcoming performance. I'll be a regular prognosticator after game 1.
