#3 has prior experience. The Butler CC coach compared him to one of his former players Zach Mettenberger (drafted by the Titans in '14).

UT can afford to buy his $1.4 million out right now. NT can't even afford $200k right now.....

Did AM redshirt? I thought he went through 4 straight years?
-
I absolutely believe Mac when he guarantees AM will play better because 16-34 128yds & 2 interceptions is not a performance that requires a whole helluva lot to surpass.

This guy sits at #3. Just read the bio...... 10 -DaMarcus Smith Class:Junior Hometown:Louisville, KY Last College:Butler CC Height / Weight:6-1 / 216 Position:QB Junior College/High School: • Passed for 2,746 yards and 31 touchdowns this past season at Butler Community College • Completed 58.5 percent of his passes, threw for five touchdowns in a game twice, and passed for four touchdowns three times • Was a team captain • Was rated as one of the top quarterback and athlete prospects in the country coming out of Seneca High School following the 2010 season. • As a senior, he threw for 3,150 yards along with 30 touchdowns compared to nine interceptions. • Was named to the All-State First-Team by the Louisville Courier-Journal after his final campaign and was also awarded a spot on the 2010 Class of Commonwealth team. • Was listed as the No. 2 overall recruit in Kentucky, the No.11 dual-threat quarterback in the country and a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. • ESPN.com and Scout.com both listed Smith as a three-star prospect with Scout ranking him as the No. 20 quarterback in the country. • In three seasons as Seneca's signal caller, Smith threw for nearly 8,000 yards and 75 touchdowns.

He's been here for 4 years. Absolutely nothing about his performance has changed.

They've done everything possible to find a QB other than McNulty. That tells me a whole helluva lot. So why would you settle on him this year? He may be the hardest worker and a great vocal leader, but everything this staff has done up to this point shows they didn't think he had a starter's ability.

When AM leaves, Mac will just find another QB to latch onto. He did it with DT as well. Luckily for him, DT actually raised his play enough to make a difference his senior year. We will continue to see this pattern as long as McCarney runs the show. My question is, what is the criteria to becoming Mac's guy? I sure as hell don't think the bar starts at talent or physical ability....

MGB: Five thoughts on UNT's loss to SMU
Got5onIt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
They just flat out ran out of gas. They did everything pretty well for three quarters other than score for the Offense. -

Jesus H. Christ, you know we've got a serious problem when even KRAM is doubting the direction of the program. -
I had the same questions last night. Purely speculative here, but my thought is the play being called is based on the strength of the QB. We all saw what passes looked like when AM had to throw 10yds+. With an uber conservative coach like Mac, it's all about the highest percentage success rate, least risk possible. SMU gave the offense a soft cushion in the middle of the field on passing downs (which it seemed like every 3rd down was) and played a lot of man coverage all night. I saw the SMUt safety on numerous passing downs slowly stroll over to cover the slot, 15yds off the ball. Zero respect for the offensive passing capabilities. I remember a 3rd down where AM hit a player near the left flat and SMU just ate it up like a hobo on a ham sandwich. The intermediate middle was open and there was no pressure but AM didn't even look there. That had to be the primary for it to be thrown that quickly. I guess he saw a potential blitz, hell who really knows....

rick villareal I'm genuinely interested to know

The overall product last night from both teams was just plain bad. NT just did worse. Someone posted a few days ago whichever QB "sucked worse" would lead his team to victory. Man, how truthful was that. Davis was below average for 3 quarters, then played a decent 4th qtr which was enough to lead SMUt to victory... -
Oh come on now, give us peons a hint on who the human vacuum cleaner is?

MGB: Carlos Harris comes to defense of McNulty
Got5onIt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I fully respect and expect this from Mr.Harris or any of this teammates. These guys are going to battle together and have formed that strong bond only teammates have. Still doesn't take away from the fact McNulty did very little to help the team offensively........ -
Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln ?

Did you load up the War Rig and bring Immortan Joe with you? -
Criticism comes with the territory, no doubt. But calling a player a steaming pile of dog crap or some other form of personal attack is a bit much, don't you think? Granted, it hasn't ever gotten that bad here, but we all are familiar with message boards and know how things can get out of hand quickly.
