It might make things easier, but the new coach can win without having Texas ties. If he can recruit outside of Texas he can recruit in Texas.

Texas ties are overrated. Didn't do Dodge much good.

Withers has been a college coach over 25 years, coached in the NFL, and has been a Defensive Coordinator at four P5 universities. He's currently the head coach at James Madison where he's had a winning record every year he's been there. Mike Jinks - 3 years RB coach at Texas Tech. Jinks' vs Withers' resume isn't even close.

I would prefer way more experience. But when does my opinion matter in the grand scheme of things?

Withers 10 times out of 10. Not even close, IMO.

Thrown into really difficult situations and has been a stand up act during both. Probably should've been given more consideration before bringing in the Mac Iowa Family. Good Luck to Coach Canales.

At this point, GSU is on a higher level than NT. Why would Fritz make a lateral move??? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm all for whatever makes NT a consistent winner. This program needs any advantage it can get and running a system most schools don't gameplan for week-in and week-out could surely do it. There's a rich pool of FBS caliber RB's to recruit from every year, OL that can runblock are much easier to find than those that can pass block, running QB's are all over the country in today's high schools. As stated earlier, NT has a good starter pack with it's current roster. Why not?

I can dig it. Agreed with you here. Something that can sustain winning seasons is what this program needs right now. If the service academies can do it, NT can do it.

Experienced head coach, successful at lower levels. Can be a current assistant at bigger programs.

According to Vito, no FCS or lower division coaches are being considered. There goes Withers. RV is making a mistake, IMO.
