Littrell's recruiting strategy going forward
Got5onIt replied to GMG24's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
This isn't the NFL. Coaching is important, no doubt, but talent trumps all at this level. -
LMAO!!! That's the funniest GIF I've seen in a while. And as for FishySmeller, I think he's 100% on the money with his assessment. Personally, I think Fine has the better arm (I know we've only seen highlight clips of both QB's) and is definitely the better athlete of the 2. Of course you can't teach size and that's something Dibiase has a major edge over Fine. At this point, neither kid is going to start next year, so I wouldn't blink twice if Dibiase doesn't commit. I would be a little disappointed if Fine decided to move on elsewhere. We need kids that have talent and have the drive to prove others wrong. Fine fits that to a T.

Yep, I remember hearing something like that near the end of the season. He was torching defenses as a true freshman. I know I'm not the only one who remembers those rumors flying around that season.

And then sorely misused by the Village Idiot Dodge during the rest of his career. I know JT had some injury issues but Dodge was going to run his system come hell or high water and not focus on his best offensive weapon. That's the way I always saw it.

Remember the rumor of Jamario transferring to a power school after his freshman year? He was getting national attention. I swear he was an incoming 3 star recruit?

I'll always have an appreciation for him. My years at NT started during his SBC bowl runs. Those teams were tough as nails and played smashmouth football.

Looking back, DD accomplished more at NT than Teflon Todd or Mac. I know that's a tough pill for some here to swallow. Was he RV's hire?

If I were Seth, I'd continue to heavily hit areas outside of DFW. UNT football has been a laughingstock in DFW for over a decade. Even during the SBC bowl runs, respect was hard to come by. Throw the success of TCU into the mix and T-shirt fans have a 3rd shirt in their rotation to wear behind UT & aTm.

MGB breaking news -- UNT lands high school QB
Got5onIt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This year is a wash as far as recruiting goes. Littrell's job at this point is to take the current group of upperclassmen and make them better. If he's worth his salt as a head coach, I believe the talent is there for an improved season. I'm not expecting anything ridiculous, but improvement is imperative going into the off season of 17/18.... -
Maybe Littrell has a few tricks up his sleeve. Stealth recruiting?

McCarney gave him the finger. -
It's not looking real good. NT needs to comb the JuCo ranks heavily. We're staring at a month old open box of cheerios, no milk in the refrigerator, and have $1 scratchoff lottory ticket. It's dinner time so grab that penny and cross your fingers....

Don't want to see these conferences merge and form a FCS#2. If anything happens it should be the Texas schools, Arkansas schools, LA schools, & OK schools band together and form a conference. I'm betting they could land decent TV contracts and their own network.

I've run into a few UTD people over the years at my job that bleed burnt orange because it was their "school". So can they root for UTEP or UTSA?

MGB breaking news -- UNT lands high school QB

Can he throw it? Check. Can he gain weight? Check. I don't expect him to start as a true freshman but maybe he'll be in the mix a few years down the road. Littrell is going to run a quick passing offense. I don't expect our QBs to hold onto the ball long anyway... -
Long Term Prospects For Football?
Got5onIt replied to HarringtonFishSmeller's topic in Mean Green Football
He had to have a rod placed in each leg. His right hand was broken as he was trying to protect his helmetless head from the oncoming tree. That supposedly saved his life....... -
Long Term Prospects For Football?

So what about the Deions & Michael Irvin's of the world whose kids play? A friend of mine blew his knee at a New Years Eve party back in college. Tried to lift a guy up and his leg buckled under him. He never played football. My brother's friend at Navy broke both legs, a hand, and ribs in a motorcycle accident. He wasn't a football player either. -
Wow, I thought for sure he was headed to CA.

Long Term Prospects For Football?
Got5onIt replied to HarringtonFishSmeller's topic in Mean Green Football
Every sport has risks. I played football from little league all the way into college. I've got 2 bad shoulders now but would do it all over again in a heartbeat. My brother played at Navy, we have friends that played at P5 schools, and the NFL. They're all doing well and have the same attitude I have towards football. They all are or will allow their sons to play. The friendships and memories developed over the years are priceless. I want my son to experience the same things and forge his own memories and relationships through football. My 8 year old played full contact football this season and loved it. Now as a parent you have to be smart and stay on top of whose coaching your child. I've seen a ton of bad coaching already at this level, as far as technique is concerned. Never let winning get in the way of doing it right... -
For any sport, the best talent is easiest to evaluate.....
