He wasn't on scholarship. They felt like he was that important to the team they didn't want to lose him and Washburn at the same time. They gave him a scholarship and redshirted him. Their way of saying we really want you back next year and you can kick back a year on our dime. This isn't football where pretty much everyone redshirts, it's rare in basketball.

I hated Leifeld's artwork so I never read any of his Xforce titles or any of his Image stuff. My first & only exposure to Cable was during the Xecutioner's Saga that spanned over all X titles, if I remember correctly....

That's why it's so important to have a successful athletic program in these volatile times. When the conferences come a calling you have to be ready. The last 5 years have been pitiful for football & basketball combined. The AAC wouldn't wipe it's ass with UNT toilet paper right now....

It's a pain in the ass but sorely needed now that 635 is complete. There will be much needed relief once the stretch of 35 from Swisher to Post Oak to 288 are completed. I always wondered why they decided to do a low traffic intersection (compared to Post Oak) like Corinth Parkway first? The last rumor I heard was the Post Oak, Swisher, & 288 intersections should be done by September....

UNT90 is a meat eater?

Lots of kids are smart, lots of kids are hard workers, lots of kids have the drive. However, you can't teach body type, size, & strength. You just cannot do it. For college football, it all starts & ends there at all levels. Hell, it's what separates the D3, D2, FCS, & FBS levels of football. Now, I think Fine was worth taking a risk on. But he's a real project at this point. His starting line is already behind other incoming FBS freshman. I read someone here has seen his parents and there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of room to grow. It's just the reality of the situation. I've been there and am very familiar with Fine's situation.....

Fine has a pretty decent arm. Riley did not. Riley did play Texas high school football at the highest level which makes the transition to college a helluva lot easier. This is my biggest worry regarding Fine. Low level football in OK to FBS level is a massive jump. The speed of the game from high school to college is exponentially different. Redshirt, hard off seasons, run the practice squad, and maybe he'll be ready as a redshirt sophomore or junior.

Didn't even think about my kids and their Saturday games. But you all are right, my kiddies games always come first. I did consider leaving practice early just to make it to the Thursday night game on time....
