I thought one of the main issues with NT's leap into CUSA involved the lack of a baseball program and mediocre basketball team (when compared to UTEP).

Played little league, junior high, and all 4 years of high school in DeSoto. Played varsity 3 years, started 2. 1st team all district my senior year. Considered a few Jr.Colleges, had some contact with Sam Houston St. & Tarleton St. I did not want to play college ball unless it was Division 1. I had no offers, but a Baylor recruiter called me once. I was all set to go to Syracuse University as a normal college student -> accepted there, etc. When my head coach talked me into playing football to pay for my education. Ended up playing at - TAKE A BREATH- Trinity University, for academic reasons. They paid for all classes and books, I had to pay for housing & food. Played one year and hated it. Transferred to a Dallas CC, then UNT. My OL coach in High School told me and a good friend of mine that I would hate small time football, coming from a Texas 5A school, boy was he right. He insisted I try to walk on at UNT before I decided to head to San Antonio. Well, my good friend ended up going to Eastrn New Mexico St., where he played for one season as well. He then took my coaches advice and walked on at UNT. You guys might know him, Randall Harris. Anyway, I REGRET not attempting to walk on. Oh well. So is life. I now "live my dreams" with a PS2 and NCAA football 2003, 4, 5, & 6. Did I mention my wife HATES my PS2?

I'd vote the Western Athletic Conference but only if it had two divisions. Now, a "West" and "East" division seems awkward for a conference named the Western Athletic Conference. The Wesetern Athletic Conference West and Western Athletic Conference East??? I say the WAC should go with two divisions: Tortilla Division: New Mexico State North Texas Louisiana (Lafayette) Louisiana Tech Arkansas State Troy Crabcake Divison: Idaho Boise State Utah State Nevada Fresno State Hawaii Our rival NMSU comes back into the division along with LaTech.

Slinker -> should get the boot at the end of this season. Jones -> One more season. A conference title or he gets the boot. Dickey -> Upcoming season requires a 7-5 record with a win vs SMU. Anything less and he gets the boot. What size boot does RV where? We'll need to know in order to purchase one with at least a steel toe.

I agree with you GEO. That was my main concern. I was reading the Star Telegram this morning and noticed not one of the area's top 100 was going to UNT. Central Florida and SMUt both had commitments. Very. very sad, for UNT. The biggest acquisitions - Wilson , Stanley, & Loren - are the keys to this class, IMO.

Stud MLB. Someone with size & speed. Someone that can come in and contribute IMMEDIATELY.

Thi sis why he took the greyshirt: 1. Woodrow Wilson -> College Experience as a QB. 3 years of eligibility 2. Matt Phillips -> College Experience as a QB. 3 years of eligibility 3. Daniel Meager -> College Experience as a QB. 2 years of eligibility 4. Steven Prince -> new QB recruit. Combine that with the fact that Coffman really never wanted to come here. Never expected him to sign here. Williams, the stud DE from Dallas, was a better shot at coming to UNT than Coffman, IMO.
