4 year degree. Everything you listed are things most decent people can pass: physical exam, polygraph? written exam? How heavily scrutinized is that? Be honest. background check? Again, what did the individual do special here other than stay out of trouble like most Americans? oral board? Ok, pressure testing. Some validity there. Nothing you listed tests critical thinking. Which I think is a major problem. Bachelors degree minimum required, imo. Then 12months of training at the police academy with semi annual refreshers on de-escelation. And No, I don’t want the police disbanded.

Better screening of police candidates and something more than an ITT tech education required.

My simplistic view: We have the medical technology to develop a vaccine. The world is owed at least that much and must be forced to social distance (etc.) until success/failure of a vaccine can be verified. If the top countries in the world come together, this can be done in less than a year. This will jump start the worlds movement to herd immunity. The number of lives saved should be the motivation not the number of business saved. But most Americans think we are bulletproof and live in a bubble. The idea to open it all up and let nature take it’s course is wrong here. You have to save people from themselves.

Reopen the economy in stages and give families the stimulus money to spend, thus putting it back into the economy. Yes, some small businesses will fail but in this climate only the strong ones will survive and new small business will open up in needed segments. Much needed trimming of fat...
