I would say no to this question, but one can't help be be alarmed knowing the D has 2 true freshman starting. The hardest thing for mid-major schools is getting enough talent & experience on the defensive side of the ball. True freshman can come right in and make an immediate impact on offense at ANY level of college football, but not so much on the defensive side. The defensive side of the ball requires major experience & athletic ability to be an impact player. The defense flat out lacks an impact player, specifically on the D line & at LB. Offensively, I personally think this team has "enough" talent to compete, but just lacks speed at the WR & QB positions for what Dodge wants to do(or just hasn't shown it yet with 20+ WR's already riding the bench). A true dual threat QB would THRIVE in this system. Can Riley do it?? I don't know with his height (I know he's listed at 6ft but he can't be more than 5'10") and seeing how that High School team from Miami killed him with their team speed, I have my reservations. Special Teams, i won't even get into that. Bottom line, you have to win 2 of the 3 phases of Football to win. This team ALREADY gives up one phase on special teams.

I agree with everyone here, you have to have a combination of things in an offense to be successful. I just flat out do not like the spread due to the offensive line constantly back peddling to pass black. There is no point of attack for the OL when you fail to fire off the ball to run block. They can't wear down a D-Line & it's linebackers. The game in the trenches revolves around being physical and winning those physical battles.

Vizza, without question. Work in some of the other 20+ WR's sitting on the bench. That or implement a pro style offense on more plays. We have a FB in Henderson & a helluva runner in Cam. Hell, this team has 4 legitimate TE's at various spots on the depth chart.

Since this is your 2nd post defending the offense, what happened in the 2nd half? The game wasn't completely out of reach when the 3rd started. Noone has ever asked teh offense to win every game, and if you've been watching this season unfold, the offense couldn't win a game if everyone's life depended on it. This team stinks in all 3 phases of the game - Offense, Defense, & Special Teams.

This is where a lack of college experience comes into play, IMO. These QB's run all over people at the High School level where most teams MAYBE had 1-2 FBS caliber players. Now that these guys are at the top college level, speed is everywhere. If you're offensive game is built on speed, as many here suggest, you need a freakin' legitimate dual threat QB to run the damn thing. Quit recruting dual threat QB's and converting them to Safety or WR.

I stated this another post and will do the same here. This is not the same SBC DD ran all over a few years ago.

Hate to rain on your green parade, but the SBC is pretty strong from top to bottom. This isn't the same Sun Belt DD ran all over a few years ago. NT might win 1 SBC game this year.
