Money talks. I think NT has to bring in stAte if they want to go WACky. Otherwise, it has to be a no. i wonder what the studies show what revenue could be generated if the WAC went to twelve and created a title game? Also, why would Cusa want to add another Texas school?????
-
How has the WAC's identity been solely based on Boise??? Boise's been good for the last 3-4 years. Fresno was taking down powerhouses way before them. Hawaii was always solid (as long as June was there). I think you guys are blowing this way out of proportion. Boise has just recently been the big fish in the pond.....
-
The new stadium and a new conference with well known schools like Hawaii & Fresno St. could be huge for increasing our fanbase. Renewing our rivalry with NMSU has to be a positive. Let's say attendance jumps because of this...at what point would it be worth it?
-
That's a huge slap in the face to Fresno St. & Hawaii, IMO. What SunBelt school even comes close to being as good as these 2 schools the last decade? I say NT should go to the WAC and push for a package deal with stAte. There would certainly be some regional friendly games with LaTech, NMSU, & stAte in the mix. I thought NMSU was our biggest rival before they left the SunBelch?????
-
Lmao @ Sunbelch!! I've seen that term on many message boards and can't help but bust out laughing each time .

I'm game. I just bought a canon digital camcorder and a new laptop. We can call it MeanGreenVision

Great point. Stability can only bring good things. I think this is the perfect time for the conference to make a small splash in the current conference realignment tsunami.

With enough money, TV & Bowl tie ins, anything is possible. Problem is, who's willing to dish out cash to the SBC?
-
Well then we need a baseball team!!
-
Why doesn't the SBC explore expansion? Kick out the non-football members, require all Universities to participate in all sports, send an invite to LaTech & NMSU, set up a conference championship game and pursue a TV deal for it.
-
I voted yes. in another post I stated it's all about perception. If we can guarantee athletics can break even, NT should go to the WAC.
-
On paper, statistics show the SBC is a stronger conference. However, perception is what's killing the whole deal. Perception is reality to the general public, unfortunately. The WAC is looked upon as a "stronger" conference. If NT can break even, I think the WAC should be seriously considered. With all the conference movement publicity, it's a nice chance for NT to get into the national spotlight.

Cheer for his failure????? That's laughable. The guy didn't deserve another year. Money, or the lack there of, saved his a$$. We will have a new coach next year, book it.
-
What's even sadder is the guy who hand picked him and annointed him starter over the "seasoned" upperclassmen we already had.

I enjoyed myself at Onyx at a friend's bachelor party a few weeks back.

Sun Belt Talking "enhancement" As New World Order Takes Shape
Got5onIt replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
We all know what the statistics show regarding conference strength. The problem is public perception of the SBC. I don't think it has turned the corner yet, in the public eye. -
RV should have these articles framed and carry them at all times. He can just whip them out at conference meetings.
-
You know it. Baylor is falling fast. Maybe the SBC could make room for them? It would be nice to have a real conference rival. After all, we do have some recent history together.

Move To Sec Has Momentum In A&m's Divided House
Got5onIt replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
LMAO at this comment: "How many aggies does it take to choose a new conference? NONE. They'll go wherever UT decides a&m should go, i.e., where the big dog UT goes. This talk about the SEC is just so much smoke. A&M does not have what it takes to row its own boat. Good gosh, aggies went to Austin this past week to ask where a&m should go. The aggie "leadership" knows they can't succeed on their own. They also realize, in this state, no one, except their alums and the fans of their opponent that week, cares one whit about watching them play. So much for "delivering" any Texas TV market. Re football, the only thing a&m offers the SEC is a venue to showcase other SEC talent in the state when they have to venture into that sinkhole, College Station. Thus, the SEC doesn't want them as a solo act. Slive came to deliver that message, personally. You can see those old ags already starting to backpedal, making noise like it was their own idea to slink along to the new Pac-SW conference. BS! Their gonna march in lock step to the cadence of UT's drumbeat. The reason, John David, people will say you piggybacked on UT is because it'll be true. You (a&m) "decided" to go to the Pac-SW because you couldn't go to SEC on your own. You need UT; they don't need you. Face the facts. A&M is a fraud, just like their make-believe-soldier band." As funny as it is, I think it's fairly accurate. aTm will be in the PAC16, no way in hell they split from UT. -
Sec Commish In College Station Talking To A&m
Got5onIt replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
aTm will be making a huge mistake going to the SEC. It's just a case of them trying to act like they are "big" enough to do their own thing and not what UT is telling them to do. They're second fiddle in Texas but still haven't grasped that concept, yet. They will be a perennial door mat in the SEC. I think Tech will reap huge benefits in recruiting if the Ags jump ship. The new landscape of the PAC16 North & South is very favorable to any recruit when compared to the SEC. -
Bolise Bolting Good News For North Texas
Got5onIt replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
So the SBC supposedly gets a bigger cut now, but the BCS contracts will surely get rewritten once the super conferences finalize members. There's no guarantee any of the have nots will see the same share of revenue. It just sucks that we're in no position to throw our little weight around. -
4 conferences, 64 teams. I'm guessing the "playoff" we've always wanted is coming in a form involving only these 4 conferences. The have nots are being phased out faster than an almond joy in the cafeteria at fat camp.

I think losing Riley is going to hurt a helluva lot more than people think. Teflon Todd taking a back seat is huge, but is it enough? Will one more year of experience for the defense be enough to push it over the hump? Every team "improves" in college football, so NT's improvements could be offset. I'm predicting 3 wins & a new coach heading into our new stadium.

Riley's Role In The 2010 Offense, Etc.
Got5onIt replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
Best athlete on the team???? I stopped reading your post once I skimmed that ridiculous line. I really like Riley and was hoping he'd stay at QB, but let's be realistic here. If this team wins 6 games, it's not because Riley all of a sudden is playing slot receiver. The man will contribute, but I really see him as a specialty player. This team already has depth with experience & speed at WR. -
Hypothetical : If We Start Out 0 - 3 Do We Fire Dodge
Got5onIt replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Stick by the supposed 7 win ultimatum. As much as I hate to say it, you have to give Teflon Todd a legitimate chance to get there. As soon as the 6th loss goes down, it all becomes moot anyway and he will be a sitting duck. There's no benefit in firing him early, IMO. I'm confident he'll be canned before next season.
