  1. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2006-12-12-focus-neinas_x.htm He's the main middle man for a reason, apparently. Good track record it seems....
  2. Thank you Rick for letting us know how you feel. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.
  3. Definitely the "safe" route by RV. At least he didn't go ultimate conservative and hire Bower.
  4. They had an elite player in Nate Davis and a damn good coach who knew how to use him. Hurts when those guys leave your program.
  5. I think McCarney has the experience we're looking for. I want Fran, but McCarney will be nice. Not the sumo cannonball splash we were hoping for, but a solid hire, IMO.
  6. Not my first choice, but I can live with it. The guy has a helluva resume, IMO. I would take him over Canales. Bring on Lieutenant Dan!
  7. My OU buddy, who played under Switzer I might add, says alot of alums/fans want him gone and Stoops to "revamp" his coaching staff. Says Stoops is too loyal to his buddies and it's hurting him much like Mack Brown...
  8. thank god. title needs to be edited.......
  9. hmmmm, so did he throw his name in the hat? Not all that impressed.......
  10. I'm curious as to why things are so silent along the HC front? Canales' recent success can't be that ground breaking that the Athletic Dept. has lost that much steam in a search. I was expecting a mad house a few weeks after Teflon Todd was canned. Wow, how things have died down. Cricket, cricket, cricket......
  11. If he wins next week, his name would have to be top 3. Honestly, I would much rather have him over any of the other 100 coaching Stoops brothers. You have to go with a former HC with skins on the wall or Canales, at this point. ULM will be interesting.......
  12. Well, if that's the case.....
  13. Haven't heard his name kicked around at all: "As the Head Coach of his alma mater, the University of Tennessee Volunteers for 17 years, Phillip Fulmer coached and motivated his players to win over 74% of their games. Coach Fulmer built his teams into SEC East Champions seven times; SEC Champions twice; and brought a National Championship to the University of Tennessee for the first time in 41 years after completing a perfect 13-0 season in 1998."
  14. The biggest question we should all be concerned with.... When is Denton going to open up a REAL sushi buffet (similar to Tokyo 1)???
  15. I guess there is a legitimate argument over the Stoops name. How has FSU done defensively since he's been DC?
  16. I can definitely sleep at night with this hire.
  17. Would you expect any less with the "knee jerkiness" of this place??? I mean, people were already calling for Canales to be head coach when he was first hired. We're like the fat girl waiting to be asked to the prom. The nerdiest guy to most will look like Fabio to her. We wont know how ugly the guy is until we look back at the prom pictures 20 years later. We're content with just getting asked out! I commend Canales for his enthusiasm, etc. RV stated this is not an audition and will go through an extensive search. I'm fully expecting him to stick by that and hire a new face to run the UNT football program.
  18. Still sitting solid in Fran's corner. Canales is making a splash. Kudos to him.
  19. Ive stated in another post. I think hiring Leavitt is really a waste of time. Canales started USF football along with Jim. He's experienced what it takes to build a program. If you want Jim, just hire Canales and call it a day. Just seems like a lot of time could be dedicated to recruiting & completing a staff if you go this route...
  20. I'm in the Fran camp, but with that said..... You can't ignore what Canales has done in 2 weeks. The kids are responding well to him & his style. My thought is, why hire Leavitt??? Canales was an original member of that staff. He's seen how it's done and what it takes to turn a program from nothing into something. I think it would really be stupid to waste money on Leavitt at hopes of keeping Mike. If you want Leavitt, just hire Canales and be done with it. I'd be fine with that........
  21. This place is like any other college football message board. Every time Dodge won one game this team "turned the corner" and was heading toward the SBC championship. Why would the knee jerk reactions change with a Canales win over WKU??? Just wait a few weeks, because when he loses a few games, we'll string him up next to Devil Dickey & Teflon Todd.
  22. Not a knock on Canales, but I don't think anyone on this staff should be considered.New stadium, new staff, new head coach. Now if the new HC interviews the current staff and decides to keep a few, then that's his decision. This program needs a PR boost to go along with the stadium opening.
  23. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. He only benched him after his job began hanging by a thread.
