I guess we should tap the brakes a little here folks. I'm just as concerned about the ridiculous QB play we saw last night, but we appear to have 2 things needed to win against "equal" competition: defense & a running game. NT will be in every conference game if these 2 units show up and produce like we saw last night. However, if we expect to see Mac take this team to the next level and beat a ranked team, he's going to have to throw out his Tim Tebow/Cam Newton physical requirements at QB and start looking at QBs built like Mike Vick & Russsell Wilson.....

I think we went into "tuck your tail between your legs" playcall mode after Greer threw that 2nd pick. Like another poster stated, play calling was bad due to bad play at the QB. Of course, who gets the ultimate blame for putting a guy who isn't ready for FBS football and a backup that wouldn't be a scholly QB on most other FBS rosters??

These guys all have what we didn't see out of Greer last night; pocket presence. Greer just needed to step up, step left, or step right on several plays just to extend the play a little longer so he could get a good look. He did none of that. Too many times he backed into pressure and held onto the ball. He was obviously out of his element last night....

If we need them, don't do it in week 1.

How do you leave off McNulty? How many FBS rosters would he be on as a scholarship QB the last 3 years???

Check the predictions thread, most here expected to lose. None expected to see the worst QB play in NT history to come about. Texas will not win the Big 12 and stumble into a bowl game this year. Their QB & skilled position players are average at best.

Billy, I hope & pray you're wrong. Because I agree with your sentiments of smaller QBs falling through the cracks. Height shouldn't matter, Russell Wilson is listed at 5'11" 210lbs. Mac's old buddy Seneca Wallace was only 5'10" as well. Why would Mac limit his recruiting pool based on height? Was he spoiled be around the Florida program? If that's the case, Mac better pull his head outta his ass, 'cause Florida we ain't! (spits chew)

LMAO!!! As for QB, I think the Berglund thing really set this staff back. They expected him to be running the ship right now and look at where he's at. Still doesn't excuse the lack of recruiting at QB. The other thing that's scary is the word how bad the O looked during scrimmages & the spring game....

Greer has ZERO pocket presence. McNulty has to have the worst career passer rating in NCAA history. Dude throws picks like no one's business. I would've never imagined to be WORSE at QB with DT gone. The D & ST will have to carry this team..............

The Toppers have one of the best college coaches in the game. Not the most upstanding person, but a freakin' awesome college coach. He'll move back to a P5 school after a couple of years of success....

Didn't we see several gadget plays last year @ UGA? I'm thinking Mac is going to try & catch UT off guard a little. He knows NT has to strike quick, because the depth & talent level will be a major factor come 2nd half. At least I'm hoping we see this....
