Mac built the program in that way. You have to give him credit for sticking to his philosophy. All the pressure to win is on those 2 phases of the game. Offense is an after thought in this system. How does the saying go, 5 things can happen when you go to pass the ball and 4 of them are bad. Mac is cut from this cloth. Every QB to play here as long as Mac is here will be DT v2.XXXXXXX. You can see it in Greer. DW and even MiniMac are out of place in this system. Big QBs that can stand in the pocket and take a hit throwing a playaction pass. Runnning plays 70% of the time. This will never change....

This offense isn't built for comebacks. It's built to protect small leads in close games. Old school, smash mouth football.

Any sort of recognition along these lines will not come until NT consistantly beats teams from any of the P5 conferences. Look at what happened in week 1 against UT and SMU vs BU. In the public's eye, NT is still right there with SMU......

I agree with you, but naming a starter came down to the wire, so MiniMac must be nipping at Greer's heels in the coaches eyes. If Greer is the clear #1 (which i still dont think we've seen enough from him to say that) DW should be the clear #2, IMO.

Don't get too confident. I remember what happened the last time NT was a favorite and LaTech came to town....... I am expecting this game to be very close. Can't wait for Thursday night!

Greer's on a short leash. There's a reason why MiniMac came in the early second half. Greer needs ALL the snaps he can get right now and if he were the undisputed #1, I'd expect McNulty wouldn't have cone in until later in the 4th. We will see MiniMac again during meaningful play...

LOL I expect to see a QB rotation for several weeks. He's obviously on a short leash. If he sputters vs LaTech, MiniMac will surely get his chance....

June's downfall came when he tried to leave SMU in that Arizona St. fiasco. It's obvious he doesn't want to be on the Hilltop. When you can't put 100% of yourself into coaching it shows up on the field. He'll land on his feet, no doubt....

I'm pissed because my son plays in the Denton Youth Football League and we were told the kids would form a spirit line on the field and cheer the team on when they came out for halftime. Instead they lined the kids up under the cover right next to the locker room door. Half the kids couldn't see. Many parents came to the game expecting to see their little ones on the field. The kids were all disappointed they didn't get to go onto the field. Whoever set that up completely dropped the ball.

One of the security personnel told me some students threw beer bottles at the SMU coaches and one of them struck June Jones. Funny & unfortunate....

I think NT just helped June Jones into early retirement with this beatdown...

I saw him limping near the bench during the 3rd qtr...

This is a Championship caliber defense, without question. This team's run at a CUSA title will be determined by the offense & QB play. Let's hope we see huge improvement in the passing game as conference play unfolds...
